    I'm feeling depressed.

Just relax..I really doubt you have done anything to it...try to stick to the post op diet as it is very important. The lapband works, but gradually, as you get tighter with more fills. So in the beginning you are going to be able to eat a lot....which sucks...but just be patient.

    Carb issues?

I cannot tolerate most carbs..that is pretty normal with lapband.

    Sweet Tooth!

I eat sweet food every day and am maintaining my weight right now! I have a terrible sweet tooth...I do have to use self control because I could eat a ton of ice cream...but I know if I do I will gain weight....

    Pesto Polenta Lasagna

I have not tried this yet, but it has very high ratings on allrecipes.com It also seems it might work for people who are a little tighter. I just might add a bit of Protein...like ground beef. Here is the recipe: Pesto Polenta Lasagna - All recipes
  5. Thanks Bridgette!!! Good luck on your journey :)

Still on the fence about surgery.

It is a hard decision...I understand where you are coming from. It certainly is a lifestyle change. For me, I went up and down so many times with my weight...I was just sick of it, and knew I had to do it....Good luck in your decision!

What to do during "bandster hell"

Yea you can't just wait until the first fill if you want to be sucessful. You kind of have to diet during bandster hell unfortunately. Plan your menu for the day, maybe add in a bit of exercise if you can. For me, exercise actually makes me want to eat healthier just because I have burned cals so I don't want to mess it up by eating too much. Try a low carb diet...lean proteins and veggies. I always had one dessert at night just so I had something to look forward to! Good luck

    Need Help

You probably are stuck a little bit....it will prob go down on it's own. You might begin to slime, or throw it up....just wait it out and see what happens....first time getting stuck is never fun...come to think of it getting stuck is never fun!!!

    Wow!! You look so great
  16. Sorry to hear about your loss...how stressful! Why don't you just start over...go and begin getting your fills. I personally didn't feel restriction until my 5th fill..so chances are you can prob still eat a lot. Maybe begin an exercise program when you feel you are ready. You already have the tool...now it is just time to start using it!!
  17. I havent' had PS yet...but my PS who was recommended to me by NYU--and who I trust with my life...recommends that you get some unfilled...like your band should be half full....he said there was a case of aspiration during surgery due to tightness of band...I would unfill just to be safe..maybe not all the way...but some.

    Do You miss food?

I miss the taste of certain things!! For sure...but I am so grateful for the lapband...I don't regret it a bit!!!
  19. Dr. Fielding is amazing  I was also in awe that he had the Lapband also... I felt fine immediately after the procedure and was walking within the hour...honestly it was my first surgery and was a super easy recovery for me. Only took two doses of the pain meds given to me. I am sure you will do great!!

Lap Band and Hunger? Is it right for me?

Yes it defintely helps with physical hunger when you are at proper restriction. Of course, it doesn't help with "head hunger". And there are certain foods that you can eat a lot of ...like ice cream, chocolate, chips for some people...etc. I do think you would do well with Lap Band though....good luck
  21. That's great  I love Dr. Ren! Usually I wait a little while, and within 15 mins if it is not too painful and still doesn't go down on it's own, I just have to throw it up. It is similar to regular throwing up...only it is just undigested food, so it isn't quite as gross....but still not pleasant!! Unfortunately, it doesn't always come up on it's own...gross I know. But everyone is different....some people "slime", which I personally have never done. Lapband is very individualized...
  22. Yea I still can't stomach protein shakes to this day after doing my pre-op diet!! I suggest blending with ice and maybe adding banana and a tablespoon of peanut butter or something, just to change it up a bit ...good luck!
  23. Personally if I don't chew well enough, I have to throw it up or it will be quite painful for me.

    I'm too tight

I personally cannot eat pizza at all...or any bread-like items. What about like 4 oz of fish, tuna salad, or chili? Can you eat that? Sometimes chicken can be difficult for bandsters....

What carbs do you eat for dinner?

When I was at proper restriction I pretty much did not eat carbs for dinner...now that I am at my goal, I have incorporated some carbs back into my meals--and have loosened my band a bit :wink2:
