    eating out

Personally I couldn't eat either of those things..I can eat salad sometimes but only with a lot of dressing or cottage cheese. But I could eat those when I was first banded..for the first few months..

    Let's talk nausea...

I have never had nausea at all and I have been banded for almost 2 years. I do on occasion get stuck..and may have to throw up....but there is no feeling of nausea.

    Social Reservations.

Well the thing about the lapband is for the most part there will be certain items you will be able to eat without much problem, like fish, mashed potatoes, soup, etc. So for me going out to eat is more about food choices. The great thing about the lapband also is that it is adjustable! I got very tight at one point and chose to stay that way until I reached my goal weight. Now that I am at my goal weight I have had 4 unfills, and can most certainly eat a lot more food, and more variety of foods. Good luck in your decision!!

    What is this feeling???

That is a very normal feeling...it just takes longer for the food to go down now...the tighter you are, the longer it feels like it takes...

Less to lose slower weight loss?

Well I had a much higher BMI when I got banded....but my weight loss was fairly steady all along as long as I had good restriction. So even when I only had 20 lbs left to lose, it still came off at about the same rate--2 lbs per week.
  6. Personally I also had never had surgery...and I thought the recovery was super easy. I was back to my self in 4 days...took a week of from work which was perfect. only took two doses of my pain meds. The gas pains were the worst, but overall recovery was fine!! Good luck!

    Acid Reflex?

Best to see your surgeon..he can prescribe something, but you want to make sure it is not something more serious...although it prob is the reflux

    Surgery and Privacy Question

I am pretty sure that would be a violation of HPPA...I don't beleive they can legally do that...

    Lapband-Friendly Meals?

grilled salmon and asparagus is one of my faves. Or grilled chicken over salad with 1 tablesppon regular dressing and lots of cottage cheese. A hearty soup. Lots of good stuff..youa re supposed to eat proteins first, then veggies...I try to eat both.
  11. 1 week and that was perfect....

    Constipation ruining my life.

I had terrible constipation for awhile when I was much tighter. I would bleed when I had a BM. Thank GOd now that I am maintaining, I have loosened my band quite a bit, and the constipation has completely gone away.

    Disappointed..25 days post-op

Hang in there...month after month you will feel more and more restriction. I was worried too, but I lost 140 lbs and am happily maintaining now

    Insurance Covered Surgery?

Yes I haven't had it done yet, but I had letters from both my primary Dr. and gyn. Both stated functional reasons why the surgery was medically necessary. Took pics of rashes and got meds from the Dr. for the rashes. Was also advised to see a chiropractor for lower back pain from the hanging skin. The chiropractor wrote a letter as well. Good luck!
  16. Been following your progress!! Would love to see new pics...glad to hear you are feeling great!
  17. I have never felt my band, but there are other bandsters on here who swear they do. I do however feel my port often....

    Insurance Denial HELP

Did your primary care write a letter? I haven't had mine yet but I have been approved. My primary care, and gyn both wrote letters. The letters have to focus on FUNCTIONAL reasons why you need the surgery. For example, one of my letters stated that I had a rash (which I went to the Dr. for)--and have pics of--Dr. prescribed two different meds which didn't work. Letter stated that I have to go to the bathroom often to clean the affected area--gross I know--but that is the kind of stuff they are looking for. It was also recommended that I see a chiropractor for lower back pain caused by the hanging skiin...she also wrote a letter. Good luck to you....

Do you bruise after your fill?

ONly once but I think it is pretty normal
  21. kkarryall

    Failing and depressed.

Maybe you should see a therapist. I started seeing one about 6 months before surgery and I think it has been my biggest tool for success....and another fill might help....keep us updated
  22. kkarryall

    random restriction?

I honestly didn't feel restriction till abut my 5th fill...until then it was diet and exercise for me.
  23. kkarryall

    Acid Problems?

Just talk to your surgeon about it..I have had some probs with it on and off...your surgeon might prescribe you something because it isn't good for your esophagus to have too much acid.
