Well done everyone on your pre-ops!! Aside from the liver shrinkage, it's hard now to see how important the pre-op is psychologically, but you will once you're on the other side and look back on it!
So keep fighting the good fight! You're off to a fantastic start to your healthy lifestyle post-op!

I'm on day 12 of 14. I think what helped me a ton was drinking a ton of Water (I add the crystal light lemonade packets). This really kept me "full". I'm down 14lbs which I think has helped motivate me! I'm hoping to hit the 15 pound mark (I had a weight stall when I hit 12 lbs for 2 days).

It's very hard! And you will actually feel like you're starving for the first 3 days or so. Get all different kinds of sugar free jellos and Popsicles. Those help! And the shakes curbed my appetite a lot too. I had to stay busy doing whatever I could to keep my mind off of food. I went to bed early every night. I took some pictures of myself naked and looked at them every time I felt I was gonna cheat. :/ TMI but it helps!! I felt angry and down the whole time and that is normal. The 2nd week is a downhill slide with much more ease! I'm 14 hours away from being sleeved! And I thought I'd never make it! You can do it!

maritza211 reacted to nursejenny07 in 6 1/2 months post op and down 83 lbs (with pics)
I was sleeved July 28th and I am so happy with my progress! I'm down 83 lbs and still losing at a steady pace. I started at 262 lbs and am down down to 179! Crazy to think I'm only 30 lbs from my goal weight! I'm 5'5.5" and before surgery I was a size 22/24 in bottoms and XL in tops. Now I'm a size 12/14 and M/L. My body has changed a lot, but I've also changed a lot mentally! food no longer controls me, and I don't even like some of the foods I binged on before my sleeve. I still need to work out more, but getting on the treadmill and running at 5-6 mph isn't nearly as hard as it was 7 months ago! I'm training for my first 14er here in Colorado this summer. I can't wait! Here are some pics of me before surgery at 262 and today at 179

My first appointment was 4 hours long and included a (paid up front) session with a psychiatrist for clearance PRIOR to my being seen by the surgeons PA (whom I adored). I had already pre filed my new patient paperwork (internet) and they already had my insurance requirments and coverage options prior to my walking in the door. Had I not met all the requirements, I would not have been able to schedule that 1st appt. After the Psyc eval, I saw the PA and discussed the surgical options and what I wanted for myself, I saw the nutrition and excersise staff for full evals and then was off for bloodwork, a sleep study and a mammo (yup ...and ouch) .... it was busy and confusing and thrilling and I am so so glad I did it!!!! Good luck to you!!

You have all kinds of support here. Even though I had tons of family support it was me who was telling myself I would fail this time because I had in the past. I second guessed myself right up until the second they sedated me on the way to surgery. But guess what, I didn't fail and you won't either, because this time there will be something different to help you succeed, and that is your bariatric surgery. This will provide you with a powerful tool to succeed. You will have built-in Portion Control, which is something no other weightloss program has been able to give you. You will start to see that weight coming off which in turn will inspire you to continue to follow your program and keep succeeding. You will start to have that self image and confidence improve, and soon you will be able to do anything you set your mind to. Have confidence in yourself because you will succeed. The first step is showing up for surgery despite how scared you are you may fail. We are here to back you up. Good luck!!!
