  1. I guess with my related health issues, I am not nervous about telling people. I really dont care what others think and if they dont like it, they are free to pursue conversations, friendships and the what not other places. I feel for the people that have had to endure negative reactions to a surgery that most people truly know nothing about. I consider myself a reasonably intelligent individual and knew nothing about this journey that has been forced upon me. I revel in the positive, avoid the negative and that goes for people too. For all of us, this is stressful enough that we should not entertain those that are not supportive. Everybody that knows me, knows I am having surgery. A few who I trust understand the impact on my life, the reasons why I am pursuing this and very real negatives if I dont. That is enough for me. To those who need more support, I can listen....

  2. I am in severe pain, but they said it would hurt worse since I had my gallbladder out and a hietal hernia repair. I can sip my Water fine.. But I get a sever sharp pain afterward. The gas pain is hell too! I have 9 surgical areas and all but 1 of the sights have 2 staples each, but one had 4 staples and another has my jp drain in it.

I was stuck with the JP drain for 6 months after a colon resection (sp) last dec. I understand the pain. Good luck and my prayers are with you.

  3. First, I'm sorry for your loss.

Secondly, I'm sure we have all dealt with the insecure feelings associated with why we are doing what we want to do. However, you made a decision to go through with this and I doubt those reasons have changed. I'd like to parrot SCSTXRN and tell you to start writing things down. When I have problems I tend to rank the importance of my issues compared to the importance of what I want. It helps me, maybe it can help you. And continue to stay on this site, even though I have not posted a lot on here, I read a ton. The people here are great, they are positive and most of all they know what we are going through. Minus one unbelievably negative interaction, all have been supportive.

  4. Good luck with everything. If I understand everybody, you will may be challenged for the next two weeks. Remember why you are doing what you are doing and stay strong. I am about 2 months behind you in my journey. And yes, the ads are horrible, but it is the way our society is structured. Good luck and keep us posted.

  5. I hope that my experience is half as good as yours. It is people like you that give me hope that this surgery will be different than my other experiences. I feel like we have more control over how our body will adjust to the new way of life and that if I do not do well, it will be because of my actions. I hope you continue with your positive change. Just wanted you to know that your experience has given me hope!! Have a good New Year's!!

  6. I am still concerned about the midget. Where has the midget gone? We need to ensure the midget's needs are being met. I will begin looking at the "chicken farm".

This post was exactly what I needed. Nobody was laughing at you and probably most were realizing they could have/or will say worse. I will take the lesson of this post and make sure my phone is not readily available until I can argue with my wife to get it back.

Everybody here is so supportive, thank you.
