    It's over

I am still concerned about the midget. Where has the midget gone? We need to ensure the midget's needs are being met. I will begin looking at the "chicken farm". This post was exactly what I needed. Nobody was laughing at you and probably most were realizing they could have/or will say worse. I will take the lesson of this post and make sure my phone is not readily available until I can argue with my wife to get it back. Everybody here is so supportive, thank you.

    Feeling unprepared!

@@kcru0626, sounds like you are experiencing the same thing I am. I was told I need to have this surgery by my gastro doc, then sent to three wrong doctors before getting to the one I have now. That took a month. Needless to say, when my current doc told me I had to wait another four months to have this surgery, I was less than pleased with that news. I will not see him again until March. I wont see my PA until Feb. There is problems communicating with my doctor's office and since he has two, and they don't coordinate at all, I get doubled scheduled for things. My PA is awesome but overworked. I have her email address because I am a special case (massive hernia...) and she uncrossed some wires for me. I will parrot those like @@Elode who say do not be intimidated by doctors, nurses, admin staff. You are the consumer as well as the patient and deserve the answers to your questions. Let us know how things are going please
  4. I am having the sleeve because I have already had a colon resection. The bypass is not an option for me, according to my doctor. I do not know the plumbing well enough to explain why he would not consider the bypass for me. However, a lot of it may be due to the trauma that my body has already been through ( 2 surgeries last December, within a week of each other and now I have a massive incisional hernia from the second surgery).

    I'll admit it...I'm scared.

Good luck, wishing you the best.
  6. I will parrot Kya Wolf and say that I have not heard of him, but I am seeing Dr. Park at Duke Metabolic Center and also have a complicated surgery. I know a couple of people that have used Duke in the past and they were very happy with the outcomes. I hope you find your answers,Good Luck
  7. So I have been told that I have to have surgery prior to getting another surgery. I have never considered WLS in the past because I have always been able to keep my weight down with diet and exercise.....until I had a colon resection that I have yet to heal from. The last year has been a painful reminder that I am getting older and unable to recover like I used to. Because of my colon resection, I am unable to get the bypass surgery so my only option is the sleeve. I hope that it will be enough of a tool to help me lose this weight so I can get my second surgery done and on with my life. I have a four month wait period because my insurance still says that this is an elective regardless of the fact that my doctors (I have seen 4 different doctors and have been told the same thing) say that it is medically necessary. Next week I go in for my psych examine and to finally see my nutritionist, as well as have a ton of blood work done, a chest x-ray and something to do with my heart. I have tried to look at this as a plus, as it will help me lose some weight that I have been unable to lose as I have grown older. But at the same time, it is an extreme response to a problem that was created by another problem. I am not given any other options so I have no choice but to accept the diagnosis and move on. If anybody has any insight, I would appreciate it.

    Scared ????

ELI.p.m - Slightly judgemental aren't you? If you are not addicted to food why do you have to have surgery? Can you not exercise enough to lose the weight? I'm neither addicted to food, nor anti-exercise, I have an incisional hernia the size of your apparent ego that prevents me from doing much. Am I also, pathetic because of that? How about recognizing the fact people are trying to better themselves then to poorly cloak a put down? Classic psych....put down others because you feel bad about yourself.

    Scared ????

I got told the same thing today. The only difference is that I have to wait 4 months for the it. I guess it will give me time to prepare for what is coming. I am not happy about living with the pain for another 6 to 8 months( 4 months for the surgery, and more for the weight loss to take effect). How did you get approved for surgery so quickly?
