I still haven't used a straw and I'm 3 months post op. My surgeons office said no straws ever. I do miss drinking with a straw though ????

In the beginning, I was keeping my carbs around 30-50. My labs showed that my Protein levels were low (even though I was getting between 80-100 grams per day). My NUT said I had to up my carbs to get my protein levels up. She said between 60-75 grams per day/. It's hard !! Ugh ????

No objections at all.
Thanks! Please keep me posted. Did your surgeon object to them at all?I have used them since I was a little shy of one month post-op. I have had bloodwork once since and everything was fine except my Vitamin D (which was low in my pre-op bloodwork) . I will post once I have my December labs done (they will be the true test)
I take Vitamin d, omeprazole, Biotin & fish oil all orally. I use the Calcium with Vit D patch as well as B12 & a multi.

I make two shakes at a time and let them settle for several hours. The foam used to gross me out????

No, in fact it has been the opposite for me. I only go every other day now and sometimes I need to use Miralax for Constipation. TMI sorry????

I had rapid heart beat post op as well. I had to stay in the hospital an extra day to stabilize it. I am 3 months post op, and I monitor my BP and my heart rate everyday. Both have been normal since. I would address this with your surgeon.

Thanks for the advice !! I'm gonna take advantage of the honeymoon period as much as I can ????

I'm not really hungry much but my sense of smell is on fire lately. Everything smells so good ????

Very true ... It's definitely not a one size fits all that's for sure.
My BMI was over 60, so that doesn't hold true with my surgeon. The reason I said to ask specifically about the person's own situation, is that I'm not real big on "everybody gets the same treatment no matter what." You never know, her surgeon could say that with her BMI and/or her mobility, she could safely skip it.
Usually a BMI over 50 will require several weeks of injections. Better to be safe than sorry ...My surgeon only gives them in the hospital. Perhaps you could call your surgeon and ask what about your specific medical situation makes them necessary?

I am 3 months post op and still do 2 Protein Shakes per day. I just can't get my required Protein any other way at this point. I can eat very little.I'm with you guys ... seems like being told to eat more is contradictory ... based on what we went through to eat less!
I'm 4 months out and I still drink 2 shakes a day ... and eat very little ... most of that is because I'm scared to ...
Seems like such a mind trick to eat more to lose more ...
Something I still have to wrap my head around ...
Crazy how things like that actually make sense ... but it's still hard to understand !

You've got this girl !!! ????Thanks everyone!
I know, you're all right, I need to do these. I really don't know why I'm dreaming about them, I have no problems at all with needles if a nurse or doctor is giving them.
I have emailed my surgeon just to check because I am very mobile and my bmi is lower than 50, but until o hear back I guess I'll have to grit my teeth and....????

I gave myself the injection, in my belly, for 30 days post op. Make sure you do too !! It's gets to be old hat after a few days & doesn't even hurt ... I promise ????I had my sleeve surgery 4 days ago. I was fine taking the daily Fragmin anti-DVT jabs in hospital, but now I'm home I'm really struggling with the idea of doing them myself, or even letting my husband do it.
I have tried to find out what the risks of not taking the Fragmin are, but can't find any stats.
Did anyone skip their jabs?

You look fabulous !!!Wanted to give an update I am doing much better. I had to be readmitted to the hospital and spent 12 days due to severe dehydration and not keeping anything down. I had an extreme case of nauseous and vomitting .
Everything now is falling into place , here is a pic of my progress ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1447600750.378191.jpg

Mine is starting to feel really dry ... I guess that's the beginning stages ????

The liquid pre op diet goes by in the blink on an eye. I remember the night before I started thediet, I bursted into tears and told my husband there was no way I could do this. I stuck to the diet and never cheated once. I am 3 months post op and have lost 70lbs. This was the best decision I have ever made. GOOD LUCK !!!
-
Oh wow that is terrible ???? I hope it stops now that your meds are being changed.
I haven't had nightmares, but very vivid dreaming almost every night. I used to dream once in a blue moon pre-op.

Yes !! I had it a few weeks post op. I addressed it with my surgeon and he said it could be neuropathy or from laying on my back for 48 hrs. It went away fairly quickly and has not returned ...
-
I had my sleeve on 8/17/15.
I'm down 72lbs from my highest weight, 62lbs since preop diet started on 8/3/15, and 49lbs from weight on 8/17/15 ????????????

Best wishes for a full & speedy recovery ????

I'm self pay and my surgeons office was no joke. I had to lose weight, take nutrition classes, have full clearances, psych evaluation, I had to pass several tests that would prove I was invested ... I still meet with my whole team and do bloodwork every 3 months. I think it's both the patients and the surgeons office to work together to make it a success ????Self pay patients may not get as much of that type of instruction. I even read one post where the person didn't want to be bothered to read the manual provided by the doctor
Anytime I make a big life changing decision, I do major research ... Hours and hours lol
3 times 10 does not equal 70!

I am doing two shakes per day. Without them, I would never meet my Protein goals. At 3 months post op, I can't eat enough to get to goal.
