  1. I waited until I was at 75% of my excess weight lost before I even tried bread or crackers. I wanted to keep the momentum I had going to get to my goal weight, and I knew bread and crackers didn't really fit into that equation. Protein and veggies did.

Even now 16 months later, they are limited. When I do have them, it's either nut crackers and whole grain, nutty breads so I can get some nutrition from them. The white stuff seems to cause me terrible cravings, so I try to stay away from it.

Same with me Babbs. I'm only 4 1/2 months post op and have had no bread or Pasta. I couldn't fit it after eating my Protein anyway.

Typical day is Protein shake for Breakfast. I currently am doing Peanut Butter banana flavored. I use banana extract and PB 2 powdered Peanut Butter so my shakes are 33 gms of Protein each. lunch usually is tuna fish or chicken or turkey breast and babybel light cheese. dinner is high protein meat or fish/shrimp. I drink a boatload of Water and depending on how much protein I get by dinner time, I may do another shake. I typically get 80-100 gms per day and 64 oz of Water. I have nuts and fruit here and there as well.

I feel great !! Good luck in your journey. ????

  4. You can probably go but you will have to explain why you aren't eating or drinking anything and why you act lethargic.

I really don't understand the female mind frame of always trying to keep weight loss surgery a secret. Men usually don't have this problem.

That's kind of a privilege of being a male. Overweight women are pariahs--we are assumed to be lazy, have weak character, etc. I'm not telling anyone (not a single person) because people are nasty, judgmental, rude... I don't need anyone telling me how to eat, or what I should or shouldn't do about my body. For some reason though it happens all the time. "Are you sure you want to eat that?" "Have you ever bought a slow cooker? You can just fill it up with lean Proteins and vegetables in the morning and have a healthy meal at the end of the day!" "I can show you some easy workout routines." These things are always UNSOLICITED.

Most recently, a blonde haired plastic Barbie approached me at target to give me her husband's business card. It was very strange but I took it and gave an awkward "thanks..." And as she walked away, I looked down to see that her husband is a Bariatric surgeon. It was this moment that did in fact inspire me to look into WLS, but not because of her recommendation (I am certainly not seeing that surgeon). But because I'm so tired of being judged by other women.

I'm only 90 lbs overweight. I can't imagine how other heavier women manage.

I don't want my identity to be defined by my WLS or my weight period. It is for this reason that I refuse to tell anyone.

Wow !! What a b**** !! Her husband is gonna lose business with her rude tactics !!

  5. I also had heard about Biotin for hair loss and B12 for energy (from someone on the St. John Weightloss Facebook Group) so I added those, along with the recommended:

2 x daily chewable Multi-Vitamin (Kroger Brand Childrens Complete Multi is what I use)

1 x daily D3 (Small tablet, but I also found a chewable at Vitamin Shoppe)

3 x daily calcium citrate Chew (I bought the strawberry and lemon Bariatric Advantage from the pharmacy at the Madison Heights St John) Just make sure you get the 500mg ones, so you only need 3 a day, if you get the 250mg ones, you need 6

1 x daily B Complex Gummy (I use this one from Vitamin Shoppe: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/p/nutrition-now-b-complex-gummy-70-gummies/nn-3014#.VmnL_Ok6NUM)

After my 6week followup, the nutritionist in Dr. Katz office told me not to take the B12 or the Biotin, until after my first 90 day labs, and only if I was deficient. I just got a call from them with my lab results and everything looks perfect so I will not start taking the Biotin or B12 again. Ultimately its up to you as far as what kinds or brands. Some are very expensive. also, check the Weight Loss center there in Madison Heights, they have samples and sell some as well.

Oh, and I should note, Dr. Katz literature said no gummy multi Vitamins, as they are not a "complete" multi vitamin. I did use the Chewable B Complex wafers for the first 2 months, then switched to the gummies I listed above. I don't think we can use the gummies at first.

Are you referring to Dr. Katz at CCMC hospital ?

  6. I had a really hard time figuring it all out at first, but now I use MFP everyday. I never received any feedback at all, and most days, I'm less than 1/2 of the "normal" caloric intake per day. Maybe I'm not using correctly ? Good luck

it only triggers an warning if you close out your daily diary with under 1,000 calories a day(for females, for males it's a little higher).
I must not be using it properly then. I'm always 800 or less. It is serving it's purpose for me so I guess I won't worry about it. Thanks ????

  7. Yes !!! My knees seemed worse after I lost 70 lbs !! You would have thought I gained 70 lbs !! I just had synvisc shots and was in terrible pain for a few days. My activity has increased so much that my knees are constantly going. I escaped major health issues such as diabetes & heart disease but I am going to need a double knee replacement soon ... Ugh ... Hope you feel better soon !!
