    Calling January Sleever????

It should be fine if you buy it when you arrive in San Diego. Also don't fret about walking to the Walmart. Mexico isn't any worse than the U.S. and their Walmart has all the same stuff as ours.

    I knew better but...

My best advice would be to start seeing a psychologist, find a support group like Overeaters Anonymous or for bariatric patients, and remember that everything will get better. Your brain signals will change after surgery and you'll crave the crap less and less. You'll still be able to enjoy the old foods usually, but in moderation because there's that physical realty them there's the part of your brain that will be rewired and can tell you finally that one cookie is enough. Pre-op seems to be the hardest time for most because we have to rely on a broken will power and decades of bad habits. I feel ya. I'm supposed to eat Atkins style for pre-op. I started yesterday but had a cookie binge late at night. It was weird because I feel asleep soon after and woke up later with a swollen face. It was a scary thing but the swelling went away.
  3. I'm not before and after but I'm close to your starting stats. I'm 30, 5'5.75", 244. Haven't had any kids and I know that changes your body. I gain weight all over but my stomach just got some new stretch marks in August and my arms are flabby too. Just started Atkins as directed by my nutritionist for surgery. The extra protein and far is supposed to be good for the skin too. Surgery date is 1/7. When's yours? We should buddy up.

    Calling January Sleever????

I just set my surgery date with OCC also. Jan 7th. Starting Atkins tomorrow. I'm scared about the required weight loss. I've been stable for the past 3 months but the moment I read the word "diet" in the paperwork from the nutritionist I swear I gained 5 pounds. I've done Atkins I the past and did not have much weight loss over 6 months. At the end of it my body was shutting down from malnourishment, and that's with taking supplements.
  5. I also have always had low energy. Then I discovered that I have a sleep disorder. I'm narcoleptic and my extra weight is contributing to sleep apnea. Might wanna check that our.
  6. It's pretty irrelevant. Like I said, it moves the fat around and even that is temporary. I was never hardcore about it. I've seen women who wear them all the time, day and night and still function well.
  7. I'm scheduled for plication in Dec.
  8. Absolutely! The best ones will be called tight-lacing corsets. The lowest I've seen them is $70. I'm not sure how much the rubber ones are. The boning (what keeps the corset form) should at least be steel spiral with a steel "busk" at the front or back for strength. If you get one with an opening in the front and lacing at the back, those are the easiest to get in and out of.
  9. If you look at Kim Kardashian and think "man that's perfection", consider waist training. Her curves aren't natural but they are wonderful thanks to corsets. At least I think so. Yeah it's 2014, and we're still shoving our puppies into pushup bras, strings into our butt cracks, plucking, waxing, shaving, and have an unrealistic body images thanks to popular culture. Not sure what your point is.
  10. I actually used to corset train. Mostly because I'm a goth, so it comes with the territory. Organ displacement has only happened in extreme cases. The typical cinch is up to 4 inches in reduction. The main problem that I see with women trying it today is they keep it on for far too long. I wouldn't recommend training for more than 4 hours a day to start, otherwise atrophy of the abdominal muscles starts to set in and can make corset removal painful. I like the rubber ones that are out. As far as with a plication, it should not be different than without it. The stomach compacts while wearing a corset anyways. Expect shortness of breath and and reflux though. The lungs also become constricted along with the upper stomach. These in themselves can easily become health hazards, so just be careful and aware. Essentially what's really being trained is the fat. There's no loss of inches on its own. It just slowly redistributes the fat deposits. I grew up being shoved into girdles since elementary school. Wore them everyday until high school. Found myself with a nice hourglass figure after the rest of my baby fat went away. Eventually got the genetic version of my belly after 10 years of up and downs. Moral of the story is, wearing compression garments everyday will have the same general effect but may be healthier in the long run. I'd say pair the 2 if you'd like. It's unlikely that you'll permanently harm yourself. You should make sure you're completely healed first though unless it's specifically a medical cincher.
