    Peeing too much

Protein and low carb makes your body release Water... If you had edema, peeing is a good sign. If you find you are drinking way more than you used to, that can be a problem... If it hurts or burns when you pee, or you feel like you can't completely empty your bladder.. Those can be signs of a uti. On the other hand, based on what you are describing... You got used to being dehydrated, now you are able to drink more... So based on info given, probably not a problem. Be interesting to know what your doc says
  2. @@Eclectick You didn't ask me.. But surgery 12.9 at 295. 257 last weigh in. I drink two premier Protein shakes each day.. 260 cal, 60 G protein At least 1 sometimes 2 meals with 2 to 3 oz of lean protein or a yogurt and at least one serving of a fruit and a veggie. I avoid salt like the plague. Today: 45 minutes of walking Prem prot Chick fil a kids meal with grilled chicken nuggets fruit and diet lemonade The other half of that kids meal with fruit Prem prot 3 steak bites with 5 bites of ceasar salad Coconut Greek yogurt 80 oz Water
  3. @@ProjectMe I wouldn't pay to take them in, but I would pay for the right length. I feel good when my clothes fit.
  4. I walked out of my panties at the mall today. Thank heavens jcpenney is having an underwear sale!
  5. I went to dr Ponce and found the care better than I would have gotten in my hometown. The flight sucked. For that reason as well as his other health issues, my husband is going to dr Kim in Dallas. Because he has a hernia and medical insurance will cover fixing that, he can have the sleeve done at the same time for Tijuana prices. That said, if I were doing it over, I would go right back to dr ponce, dr oscar, and trish
  6. I'm great at losing weight... I can starve myself like a pro. The difference is, after the sleeve - I'm losing weight like I did on the HCG diet, but I'm not hungry. Cheating does not live at the back of my mind because I enjoy the food that I eat and I have no room for any more. Have the surgery.
  7. I am a nurse - and I agree with everything I've seen posted. You also need 90 grams of Protein per day, according to my doc... and if you add Probiotics in (take 2 hours after your antibiotics) you can avoid most if not all of the diarrhea.

Anyone own a chevy spark or honda fit?

2013 fit is gorgeous and fits me, my husband, two tween agers, and a couple of suit cases... and the mileage is ridiculous!
  9. Not a vet - I was sleeved a month and 10 days ago, and I only eat what tastes good. Eggface is my online love affair. So - I drink the Protein drink because I like it and it has the most protein, and I get real yogurt because the low everything is nasty. And I'm at 38 lbs from surgery day.
  10. Not a doctor - but my husband has similar diagnoses, Cymbalta and Lyrica have done wonders to control his pain - although he's gained another 40 lbs from the Lyrica. In terms of nerve / back issues preventing surgery - Anesthesia may require a separate disclaimer, because you're positioned on your back... but given that surgery is less than 2 hours long, I can't see it being a contraindication. Good luck!

    Yogurt?

The kinds I liked, without chunky stuff mixed in. When it's the only thing you can eat, you want it to be something you enjoy!

    Gastroperesis

I would be less concerned if it's only the stomach affected than I would if your intestines were affected as well.. ultimately, you have to find a surgeon you can trust, and then trust them. Make sure your nutritionist before and after surgery is aware of the problem. Know that liquids will likely be a big part of your post surgery diet... because you don't want a food back up leading to dehydration. I think the only surgery related complication that would make it worse is if you were to develop a stricture, and they have endoscopic dilation for that... Tough decision to make.

    Any SLOW losers out there?

I've read about lots of people having slow losses.. So far, knock on wood, I'm not one of them.. but Things that can reduce the speed of weight loss: 1. Being a woman. 2. Having lower muscle mass. 3. Increased age. 4. Medications - Heart meds, psych meds, pain meds all come immediately to mind. 5. Menopause 6. Thyroid dysfunction 7. History of mean dieting to your body 8. Constipation 9. Inadequate Protein intake I'm sure there's a million more things, but those are the ones that came right to my finger tips.

    Discouraged and regreting

Metamucil doesn't work if you're not getting enough Water.. it will bind you worse. I swear by 3 days of stool softener (Sodium docusate) twice a day, followed by senekot one day... but Milk of Mag, Miralax, Mag Citrate (in the clear glass bottle)... don't require 'adequate' Fluid intake to get things moving, all of the Fiber supplements do.

And this is why I WALK ALONE!

"Thanks - I know I've got YEARS to get to where you are."
  16. I think my experience has been a combination of dieting and Sleevie working her butt off. I am able to lose more weight than I ever have on a diet, and I'm not hungry.. thanks, Sleevie. But if I sat around eating ice cream (it's been tempting at times)... then I don't think I'd have lost the weight I have either.
  17. @@swtnss Assuming that it's not with people who used to eat breakfast with you frequently, you can always order a cup of coffee or tea and just say, "oh - I drink my breakfast." So far as what to do in restaurants - I'm picky, and I order what I order exactly how I want. i.e. this morning, it was machaca, no eggs, no jalapenos, no tortilla, salsa on the side, and I like my hash browns extra crispy. With Water. I had a couple of sips of water first (My doctor specifically said it was ok to drink with meals, as long as I included that in my oz count.) then I ate a few bites of shredded beef and onion, dipped in to salsa, and I ate the very top crust of my hash browns.. other than the waitress asking if they weren't crispy enough, no one really noticed.

    How to forgive someone?

@@Puppypaws57 I don't know how, but I know that it can be done. I've seen too many people make it to the other side. They typically start with forgiving themselves, for a crime they didn't commit.. and then it lessens their abuser's relevance, and weakens their power over the victim. And then it seems like the victim decides to take all the power back, and that's when forgiveness happens.
  19. I told everyone who asked... started with my husband and my family (although except my husband, I left off the Mexico part till I was back.) I told my boss and a couple of coworkers, and the next day everyone knew.. and that was ok with me. I answer the questions people ask, I try to remember to post my weekly number on face book - but, for example, my scale broke last week... I seem to be the least irritated by it. I know I'm on plan, so I know I'm losing fat. Got a new scale today and put an end to everyone else's anxiety. Now I tell the waitress at the restaurant when they look all concerned cause I only ate 4 or 5 bites of my food... and I answer their questions, too, if they have any.

    Husband

Gosh, I was going to ask if you were up for fooling around... but you seem busy.

    Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!

I mixed mine with chocolate protein powder - it's pretty yummy.
  22. I *can* eat solid food, but I don't really like to - it makes my stomach hurt, too.. I guess I'm still eating too fast. Like Elode, I get my Protein from drinks and kind of eat just for the fun of it.. a bite or two here or there. I was sleeved 12/9.
  23. scstxrn

    Gagging through protein shake

@ Elode - let us know how that tastes, for real.. I could use it in my ice cream maker and reconstitute the ice cream. I'm happy to report that I got an email from Nashua Nutrition that the HealthSmart Pink Lemonade Concentrate is back in! This stuff is awesome, because not only does it not stink, and it tastes like lemonade - it is a liquid. You can put it in a cup or a glass or a bottle of Water and not have to shake it so it doesn't get all foamy (I hate foamy!). ::off to order a dozen boxes::
