  1. In addition to the dreaded 3 week stall you may have pin pointed why the scale is showing a weight gain; you're bloated and constipated. There are many solutions to that; colace stool softener, milk of magnesia, miralax, benefiber, prune juice, a tsp of epsom salt in organic grapefruit juice to name just a few. Since you can't exercise, walk. Walk at least 30 minutes every day and drink you water/fluids. It will all get the plumbing moving. Most importantly stay off the scale. It will make you insane. Take your measurements instead. and every month take them again. Even when you are stalling if you are on program, the measurements will change when the scale doesn't.
  2. You need to talk to you nutritionist and possibly the support group at your program. The reason they move us back to eating regular food along with the supplements & Vitamins is to prevent malnutrition. Food is not the enemy. The misuse and abuse of it is. Part of the process for us is learning how to handle food in a healthy way, not just get skinnier.
  3. I LOVE to travel. It's one of the reasons why I wanted this surgery. I was tired of having so many challenges with planes and buses. I am at the point now where just a taste of something is enough to satisfy. Even better you truly savoir that taste and in my opinion appreciate it even more.
  4. Eff em'. Seriously the best thing I ever learned was not to care about what other people think. I don't mean be rude, just stop allowing it to hurt your feeling or belittle you. You can't control what others say about you, you can only control how you respond. Once you stop caring it often deflates any petty thing someone says.
  5. Buy what you eat. I always buy eggs, greek yogurt, quinoa, rolled or steel cut oat, raw honey and almond milk. What not to buy is more important. Avoid processed food, and pretty much anything that come in a box. They are often full of sodium.
  6. You making that soup from scratch or store bought? What's the sodium count? It's probably fluid retention, but again the best course of action is to stay off the scale.
  7. You don't have to cook a single portion. Make a regular quiche recipe instead of putting it in a pie plate, use cupcake molds. Freeze half, leave half in the fridge. Get up, microwave cupcake and go.
  8. I was taking water aerobics before WLS. I resumed 3 weeks post-op. I just had to wait until the incisions scabbed.
  9. Goodness you spent one day a little under the weather and things get interesting! @@Babbs hit it spot on. We don't have to all agree. Just realize that the other person has the right to say it and move on.
  10. Everything. Just get up an move. Walking is good if its done regularly. Just get your body moving. I do mostly water aerobics.
  11. It depends on my day and the type of carbs. I try for complex carbs that come from my bean, dairy, veg & fruit. I limit or avoid white, simple carbs. I vary anywhere from 30 - 70. If I am excising 5 days a week and eating carbs I lose. If I workout less than 3 days a week without reducing carbs I don't lose.
  12. Doing food prep doesn't mean eating the same thing all the time. This is my food prep on Sunday's. I boil 4 -6 eggs. Any fresh fruit I have I chop up and put in tupperware. Some weeks I'll cook up a small pot of quinoa. If it's a really busy week I make a few overnight oats in tupperware. I switch up the fruit I use. I typically already have bean already cooked and frozen or a few cans of low sodium Beans on hand. I make make half a dozen crustless quiche. I now have several different option to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner all set and ready to go. Prep takes no more than an hour and actual cooking time takes no more than 15 mins. I like to start my day with a Protein shake most of them can be assembled in my shaker bottle unless I am adding fresh fruit which I blend in my nutra bullet.
  13. @@laurenella82 - Thanks. I might have problems with the maltodextrin. It's another artificial sugar.
  14. I have not had any issues using fruit so maybe cutting out the fruit juice would work.
  15. Can you take a picture of the ingredients? Did they have any vegetarian friendly flavors?
  16. I think developing food allergies and sensitivities changed my thinking about food. I like good food and still enjoy going to restaurants but I know food can kill even when it taste good.
  17. Hi, mst of your questions can be found by doing a quick search on the forums, but here's my experience. Yes This improves with time as your tummy heals. I still have a Protein shake in the morning but I add greek yogurt to it. (FGAE 0% plain) This adds another 12 -18gms of protein and makes it easy to get in the rest of my protein throughout the day. It varies some loose a little, some loose a lot. I didn't have a pre-op diet, but I lost 26lbs from DOS to my first f/u appt. Hard to tell. My upper body is fine, but my thighs are jiggly. I'm not worried about it for now. I just wear compression and support tights & yoga pants.. Mine were big. I was a 48DD, I'm now a 46C Never had trouble sleeping from day 1. Normal and yes it goes away.
  18. Speak to your nutritionist. They will help you work out a plan on how to manage your diabetes on the liquid diet.
  19. On the MFP webpage you go to apps. I think (I don't have a fitbit) on fitbit you can go to sync and search for MFP. You're welcome. We're all just trying to share tips and help each other out.
  20. Let me add that I had no pain from the moment I woke up in recovery. NONE. No gas, no constipation, no nausea, nothing. I feel like I type this everyday, but I really want people to know that not everyone goes through pain.
  21. For me it was both. It was a weird feeling. Not pain, but it's like you felt the muscles trying to push the fluid down. The one time I vomited was when I was sucking on ice and too large a piece went down by mistake. They gave me those tiny medicine cups and it made sipping easier.
  22. It's likely the tannin as much as the caffeine in traditional teas. Trying to drink as much plain Water as possible is not a bad thing. Most people have trouble because processed foods and additive change our palettes. They are used to sweet taste so water is difficult to drink. Once I stopped eating processed foods my taste for sweet changed and I was able to drink more water. Try a compromise. Drink half your water plain. Then with the other half dry adding 25% fruit juice like apple or white grape. Even try adding fruits and veg either with an infuser or allowing the to sit in the water overnight and then removing them.
  23. Keep a positive attitude! I had absolutely no pain. NOPE! I had none, nada, nein, zip, zero! It truly varies from person to person.
  24. I agree fake sugars aren't good for you and collagen is important for healthy hair/skin/nails. Personally I stick to plant based sources.
  25. I know soda addiction is a hard habit to break, but aren't we all trying to healthy, nit just skinny? Sodas weren't healthy pre-op, now we have to worry about the carbonation and extra fake sugars we just don't need. If we're looking to change our eating habits for better ones this is a chance to get rid of one more bad habit.
