SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
Oddly enough when I looked at the goals MFP sets, my Protein goal per their calculations is 95. I guess 100 is not that high after all.

What and how much should I tell my kids about my surgery?
Just a few things: I wouldn't recommend adding the bit about losing weight because I wouldn't want to give children the impression that the only way to lose weight is surgically. These are young children and they could make that leap in thinking. Part of speaking with children is to keep it honest and simple. If the hospital you are having surgery at a hospital that has a pediatrics department you can call the Child Life Department and ask them to arrange a pre-surgical tour. This is especially helpful if you plan to have the kids visit you in the hospital so they are scared or intimated by the things they see. Most major hospitals have Child Life Departments. I used to prepare children for everything from short procedure like getting tubes in their ears to visiting relative in the ICU.

What and how much should I tell my kids about my surgery?
CCLS here. You start at their level. Your son associated hospitals with being sick? Explain that sometime doctors try to help before people get really sick. So you're going to see the doctor and he's going to fix your tummy. He wants to make sure he fixes you right so he's going to keep you in the hospital for 2 days to make sure everything is right. Then you'll come home but your belly may be sore for a little while so they'll have to be careful not hit your tummy for a while. After that mommy will be fine.

In my post op room and struggling bad
Aw man, it sucks that you're so uncomfortable. I'll chime in like everyone else. Walk as much as you can and have them give you something for nausea and gas.

Disclosure
I not lying but I don't tell everyone I meet either. I just don't feel obligated to divulge my business to everyone who compliments my weight loss.

Chia seeds
Now I dislike the feel of chia seeds so I grind them to a powder. Oddly enough I love bobo tea.

NUT ALLERGY need help finding protein!
@@getbacktome Weird fact of the day. Almonds aren't technically nuts. They are something called a drupe. They're closer to a coconut than say something like a cashew.

Supplements Postop
I don't take an amino complex. I take multi, calcium citrate D, & D3. Once a week I take B12. What is the amino complex for?

Chia seeds
I grind them because I don't like the texture. Reminds me of raspberries. Weird, I know.

Going bonkers here

Chia seeds
I grind mine to a powder. I mostly use it if I want to make a jam like topping for something. Mascerated fruit + a bit of honey + a tsp or so of chia seeds. I haven't made anything with it since surgery though. I'm also getting back to the grains I used to eat pre-op. Quinoa has been easy and I may make some farro this weekend.

SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
I was curious. I've just never heard of 100 or higher being set as a goal for a female unless they were doing very strenuous workouts.

Pre-Op diet
I didn't have a pre-op diet however my nutritionist said to watch what I eat prior to surgery. I was encouraged to increase my Protein and watch my fats. Other than being NPO after 12 noon the day before I wasn't required to to anything else. However 2 days prior to surgery I but back and did 2 shakes and one high protein meal. My surgeon said it was extremely rare, but he has had cases where the patient is on the table and they were unable to go forward with the surgery. If you were given a specific pre-op diet it is concerning that you choose not to follow it. My suggestion would be to use this week to cut back, or if you were given a specific diet to follow begin it now. The reason for the liver shrink diet is so that your liver is not so large that it impedes with your surgery.

I'm not RIGHT, you're not WRONG, WE ARE DIFFERENT.
AMEN! I know my eating habits may seem off to many. They were before WLS and since I'm still eating most of the things I ate pre-surgery I didn't expect that to change. I honestly do not care if you want to eat meat or use equal. I certainly am not concerned if someone drinks coffee or soda with or without a straw. But if you ask me why I eat the way I do, I'll tell you. If you ask if you can eat clean on a bariatric diet I'll tell you what I'm doing. Last I checked I wasn't the boss of anybody but my cat and she doesn't even listen to me half the time.

I'm so hungry, but eating is a chore!
Try using the EAT SLOWER app. Once you can eat slower it won't be such a chore.

African American vsgers!
@@rfriend82 - I'm using Scarfade gel. I used it for my face after my shingles. It smoothed out much of the scarring and pox marks from the scabs. I tend to keloid. I had an extra tube and have been using it on my incisions since they scabbed over. All but the 2 biggest ones are completely flat. If they are like the scars on my face the discoloration will fade over time. It's pricey, but worth it to me.

Getting enough Iron?
Most dark green leafy veg contain iron & calcium. I also agree with the poster above who said it may be and absorption issue.

Getting enough Iron?
Spinach and you can mix it into a smoothie if you have a nutra bullet or similar product without tasting the spinach. Your drink will likely turn green though. 1 cup contain approximately 5 gms of Protein.

Post- Op Diet
I had the same stages but only spent 2 weeks in each stage. The hardest part for me was Full Liquids. By the end of week 1 I wanted something to chew!
