  1. Sounds like you are doing well. Why don't you think so?
  2. It may be your electrolytes. Try some coconut water, Gatorade or a banana and see if that helps.
  3. My doctor is fairly conservative and recommends the same vitamin/supplement regimen as bypass pts. I would start that and call your doctor's office in the morning for clarification.
  4. I log food. I watch but am not obsessive about my carbs. However my nutritionist recommended I keep calories low (currently between 700 -900) and carbs at no more than 50. I am vegetarian and my carbs can get a little higher. However they are from the plant based Proteins I eat. I avoid most "white" carbs like bread, pastas, white rice, crackers, etc.... One thing I have noticed is that those types of carbs can be like the never ending monster. If I have them I start to crave them. As long as I don't have them, I am fine. I also try to eat according to my day. A day like today that is a non gym mostly chill out day I eat lighter.
  5. Try to walk as much as possible. Raise your arms up as if you are lifting dumb bells. The movements will help push the gas out. Welcome to the loser's bench!
  6. What were your doctor/nutritionist instructions? They should have given you a specific timeline as to when to start adding back in foods. Yes the all liquid phase sucks, but remember it is only temporary. Do not advance until you have spoke with your nutritionist. I didn't have an egg until week 3. Those 2 weeks of all liquids were a challenge. I too thought I was going to go nuts! That first egg was the best thing I ever had.
  7. Doctor's vary on this. I as told chewable or crushed for all large pills for the first 3 months in part to make sure that they are properly absorbed while your new tummy is healing, but also to make sure you can get the, down. I was told no to gummies because they are not complete. Other programs are okay with gummies and allow pats to swallow all pills from day 1.
  8. Temperature can fluctuate plus or minus 1 - 2 points with no worries. It's when a temp hits 101 or higher and stays there that you should be concerned. I'm glad to see the nurse practitioner called you back.
  9. Are you getting in all your Protein and fluids? Are you exercising? Have you checked your measurements. You may still be losing inches even though the scale is not moving.
  10. So what will you do to break the cycle? When that urge hits and you go to grab something justifying why you are doing it, what will you do instead? For me that's the key to breaking bad habits. You've already identified the issue, now develop a game plan.
  11. The main concern is driving while under the influence of narcotics. If you are no longer taking pain meds I don't see anything wrong with it. I was cleared to drive at my 2 week f/u but that was because I specifically asked about it. I didn't use pain meds in the hospital or get my prescription filled upon discharge. If I had thought about it, I probably could have gotten cleared a lot sooner.
  12. If you do have that talk with the dietitian, make it count. Ask her to be specific. Don't allow her to overwhelm you with handouts without you understanding what she is telling you.
  13. I still only eat ¼ to ½ cup of anything at a time except for Soup. That is 2 - 4 ounces.
  14. I keep hearing good things about mapmyfitness. I may give it a try.
  15. Hey Matt! Welcome. As many other have said, walk that gas out and make sure to sip slowly. Congrats on the beginning of your journey.
  16. I cannot say for sure if you will be approve or not. I didn't have diabetes pre-op, but I was pre-diabetic. 6 months later I am no longer pre-diabetic. I will say something you may hear over and over again. This is a tool, not a cure. It will help you lose and keep off weight, however long term success will depend on your changing your relationship and attitude about food. In your case that may be something you can work on in counseling. I hope you find the meeting with your doctor helpful. You might want to ask him about informational seminars as well.
  17. Then make a plan. This is why some people need food logging. You can write out for each day or even the week what you plan to eat. You can do food prep on Saturday or Sunday to make sure you have those items. At some point you have to hold yourself accountable. However if you feel your dietitian is being too vague, then speak up! Tell her your concerns and that you need more assistance. Develop some skils or list of things you can do instead of mindlless eating or emotional eating. If you need to print it out and stick it on the fridge at home. Remove any food in your house that is a slider or binge-y snack for you. Even though I try to eat a healthy, whole food, plant based meals, yes occasionally I do have cravings. I try to come up with alternatives. For example, I LOVE chocolate. Sometimes I will make myself a cup of hot chocolate. ( I make it from scratch with almond milk and cacao (chocolate) powder. To make it a bit better for me, I may add a bit of Protein powder. There are also days when I just have it. The different is, I wont keep it in the house. I allow myself to buy one mini reese's cup. or other piece of chocolate. I workout 5 - 6 days a week and I am always seeking out fun ways to stay active whether it's riding my bike or taking an African Dance class.
  18. You know that fairytale saying about how you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince? Protein powder/drinks are the same way. Glad to hear you found something that works for you.
  19. @@wannaBthinsoon - anywhere that sells sportwear. Lane Bryant has them in their activewear line. Personally I prefer them over spanx or waist trainers. I buy compression yoga pants as well. It is especially helpful now as I tend to be a bit more jiggly as I lose weight.
  20. I understand that. What I am saying is there is no reason to run away from vegetables. I was incorporating spinach into my protein drinks from week postop.
  21. Coconut oil. I prefer cold pressed virgin coconut oil. I also use my Mia Clarisonic 4 -5 days a week to gently slough off any dead skin. Other than that I drink plenty of water and NEVER, EVER go to bed with makeup on.
  22. You are the type of person who might benefit from doing short 10 minute workouts in the morning and evening. Otherwise you simply won't be able to workout. Youtube has loads of them and some cable On Demand features do as well. You could also buy videos on Amazon and the like.
  23. First of all, vegetarian here. I could really use some company. Feel free to come sit by me anytime! Secondly the term "picky eater" chaps my biscuits in the worse way! Why should I eat something that makes me gag? Or has an unpleasant mouth feel? I won't even go into it with people who try to tell me that my allergies are "all in my head". YES, YES, YES!!!! Silly me tried to share a way to make a pizza like meal for someone who said they missed Dominoes Pizza. May as well have recommended they fly to the moon.
  24. @@Birdie77 - That is awesome! Keep up the good work!
  25. I will hit 80 gms of Protein today eating not one single piece of animal flesh. I do not need colace or miralax and have never had an issue with constipation. Like most sleevers, I take supplements & Vitamins, but I get most of my nutrients from natural, plant based foods. I am not saying that everyone has to be or should be a vegetarian. I am saying that avoiding ALL vegetables, not just starchy ones is not a good idea. I have no respect for nutritionist who advocate such a thing. Thankfully I have a nutritionist that is willing to work with me and is open to the concept of plant based diets.
