Sleeve date Dec 15. Started my preop diet 5 days ago. I can eat a piece of shoe leather right now, I am so hungry. Help!
Surgery won't be canceled, everything will be ok. Not all doctors require a 2 week pre-op diet. According to my Dr, there was a study done recently which showrd that the size and amount of fat on the liver didn't change significantly enough during the pre-op diet to actually make a difference. My Dr. only told me to eat light the week before surgery and drink only liquids for up to 3 days before surgery so that there is no foodin your stomach when they operate. He also mentioned that Dr's do the two week liquid diet so that the patients get used to the liquid diet for 2 weeks after surgery.

Psychiatric Evaluation
Just had my psych eval, and I feel as if it was too quick, and too easy. I was out in under 10 minutes. The Dr. did say when I walked in that it would be quick, unless he felt I had some issues I had to work out first, but I didn't think it was going to be that fast either. I'm sitting here, now, wondering if maybe I answered something the wrong way and that's why he dismissed me so quickly. =/

What is everyone NOT going to miss after sleeve?
I will not miss those stupid seat belt extenders at the airport, bulging out of the small chairs at the doctor's office, or my bulging gut for that matter! I will not miss being out of breath after climbing 28 stairs to get to my apt, sweating profusely, shopping at plus size stores, and feeling uncomfortable in my own skin!

This is a great post! I am thankful for Alex for starting this website, first and foremost! I've only been on the site for about 2 weeks so can't remember many people's screen names, but I do remember @@Elode and I am thankful for all her posts & comments, and answering some questions I've had along the way, as well as everyone else who has been so helpful!

When You Realize You Really Are Changing...
You guys have me dying over here!! I'm getting sleeved on 12/29 & can't wait for this to happen to me! Funny thing is, in my mind I'm not so big, then when I catch myself in a mirror sideways I say "that can't be me, I don't feel that big!" I'm definitely a lot smaller in my mind than I am in person! Lol

That sounds great @@Elode! Thanks for the insight!

Hello!
Hi @@Elode! I was wondering how long you were out of commission after your surgery? I'm going in 12/29 & returning to work on 1/5. I know everyone heals differently, but I've heard plenty of people say they were good to go after a few days. I've had 2 c-sections, and with my second I was released from the hospital after my second day and was running around like nothing by the third day.

Christmas Gastric Sleeve Surgery Booked - December 21st! Anyone else in December?
@@TanTan82, I feel where you are coming from. At my heaviest I was 368, and have had 2 c-sections. I've also worried about loose skin, but I spoke with my massage therapist and she gave me a recipe for a homemade scrub that helps tighten and moisturize skin. I've actually been doing it for the past 2 weeks and I am noticing a difference. You take a handful of coffee grounds, brown sugar, and sea salt, 3 teaspoons of honey and 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, apply it all over your body in an upward motion, concentrating on the main problem areas, and it does help. It adds moisture and elasticity to your skin, helping it to snap back. I haven't lost a pound but I am losing inches, and that's exactly what I want, and i started early so I can try to really tighten up well and not have a bad case of the saggies after surgery! Hope this helps you too

Pre-op Questions
Anyone here have surgery already without the two week pre-op diet? I'm wondering if the results, so far, are similar for people who did vs. didn't diet.

Your response to: "but you aren't 'THAT' big!"
I get this all the time from Co-workers. I'm 5'10" 327 lbs, wear a size 18, but very heavy chested . People tell me all the time they don't see how i can weigh as much as I do, but the scale doesn't lie, and what I want to do for my own health is not their problem.
