  1. What kind of protein is in the shots? I've been told that our bodies only absorb certain kinds of protein well, but these sound interesting.
  2. Thank you so much for posting this! I'm having surgery with Dr. Rodriguez the day after tomorrow, and it's great having an idea of what to expect. I did not like reading that two people didn't wear gloves while poking you with needles. Since you're an RN and noted the medical and hygiene practices, could you tell me how concerned you were with this? I'm thinking my instinct would be to insist they put on gloves, but I don't speak any Spanish. What's you're opinion of the pain med and the antibiotic that you were given, both while in the hospital and to take home? Strong enough? Thanks again!
  3. I'll be having surgery March 20, the day after tomorrow, with Dr. Jose Rodriguez. I'm so ready!
  4. I only have to make it through one more day before my surgery on FRIDAY! I've waited months for this and can't believe the time is finally here. I'm ready. Bags are packed, everything is done except getting on the plane and getting to the hospital. (I'm having a Mini Gastric Bypass with Dr. Jose Rodriguez). Thoughts and prayers would definitely be appreciated.
  5. Thank you, Rocky! Three months ago I didn't think I could stand such a long wait, but the time passed fast. It's hard to believe, but I'm all packed and ready to go.
  6. Thank you! I met another lady on here who will be having surgery with Dr. Rod the same day I am. Since I'm going by myself, finding someone else I'll "know" there has helped me a lot. When are you thinking of having yours done?
  7. @Band07 Yes, my surgery is the day after tomorrow with Dr. Jose Rodriguez. Best wishes to you!
  8. I'm also a big fan of Syntrax Nectar. My favorites are the Cappuccino and the vanilla bean. Those, and a couple of others, I prefer to mix with milk. I've tried several of the fruity flavors and found them all good, it's just a matter of personal tastes. Twisted Cherry and strawberry Kiwi are my favorites right now. Oh, and Roadside Lemonaide.
  9. I'm really, really hoping my tastes change in a similar way after surgery. Sweets have always been such a problem for me. I don't want to want them anymore.
  10. I haven't opened the Salted Carmel, but I'm not going to bother. I'm going to return it all as soon as possible. (LOVE that sweet little face in your avitar!!)
  11. I almost ordered the black cherry, too. I just checked Torani's website - it says that they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. It looks like I should be able to return everything for a full refund (less the expensive S & H, of course). That's more than I expected though.
  12. Thank you, I'm glad to know it isn't just me. I even worried that I'd gotten a 'bad batch' or something.
  13. So it was as easy as pie for you? Sorry! I couldn't resist. I was wondering if it might be the sweetener, but none of the reviews ever mentioned a bitter taste, so I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. Thank you!
  14. After reading that several members here use and love the Torani sugar free Syrups, I bought a selection from their website and waited impatiently to try them. Now I've tried three of them. And I can't stand the taste! The first time, I mixed a dash of French vanilla into a cup of coffee. A few days later, I added a few drops of the White chocolate to my Syntrax Vanilla Bean Protein shake. Today I tried adding two teaspoons of S'mores syrup to my coffee. All 3 drinks tasted fine before I added the syrup but there was a strong bitter, chemical-like tang to the drinks after I added the syrup. The taste was so bad all three times that I poured the rest of the drink down the sink. Now I'm a little afraid to try again. Am I adding too much syrup? Too little? Not mixing it in the right type of beverage? I really want to enjoy these syrups. Plus, I spent too much on them for them not to be used. Please help! Note: I'm pre-op, my surgery is in 3 days.
  15. None here do either.
  16. My surgery is this coming Friday, March 20. I woke up yesterday morning feeling like I was getting the flu. Went to Urgicare, flu test was negative but got 4 prescriptions to hopefully getting me feeling better in the next 5 days.
  17. @MamaTo3inNH Have you tried cooking the chicken in a crock pot? meats are usually very moist and tender this way. If you'd still like a sauce, try adding some cream of chicken Soup on top of the chicken while it cooks (maybe even stir in some unflavored Protein powder for extra protein).
  18. I have had a Charlie in my life for the last several years. One week from tomorrow I'm taking a major step in getting him out of my life forever! Goodbye Charlie. Thank you for posting this! It's so well written, and it gives a new look on things that hit too close to home.
  19. My surgery isn't until next week, so I can't offer personal experiences. But, we do have a good Mexico Sleeve forum here http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/486-self-pay-mexico-gastric-sleeve-surgery/ You might take a look at the posts there - they might help with some of your questions. Good luck!
  20. I'm so sorry that you've had to go through all of that! I'll be praying for you on Friday. Please post an update when you can.
  21. I haven't tried this yet, but someone recommended mixing the fruity flavors with plain greek yogurt. They also recommended mixing the strawberry Mousse flavor with the Roadside Lemonaid. Both sound pretty good to me. I've mixed the vanilla Bean, Strawberry Mousse and the chocolate with milk and it makes it a little thicker, more dessert-like, and it adds protein!
  22. You shouldn't have any problems scheduling a May surgery date in Mexico. If you have a specific date(s) in mind, your doctor's coordinator will be able to tell you quickly if that day(s) is available. Best wishes!
  23. @angie05 Mine is next Friday, March 20th. I just started the pre-op diet and now it's really sinking in that I'm actually going to do this! Wishing you the best on the 17th!
  24. I can understand that, too well. I will, and thank you! Best wishes too you, too. When are you planning to have your surgery?
  25. @Aliyah14 May I ask why you changed your mind about using Dr. Rodriguez? I'm having surgery with him 2 weeks from today, and I'm just curious.
