    Excess Skin

I'm nearly at 100lb weight loss and can tell I'm going to have excess skin. I feel so much better though. I'm hoping my insurance will cover skin surgery when I get to that point, but I think it might for me have to be one more thing that is just worth it. From what I understand, the younger you are, the slower and steadier the weight loss the better this issue is. I'm 38 and was pretty big so I know I'm going to have this issue.

Does anyone else have an exercise peak?

I like to exercise between 1-3pm before the kids get home from school it's just easier. and if I wait until later I feel sluggish for some reason.
  3. WTG!!! Your positive attitude is contatgious, I did not have such a wonderful attitude when I realized I had to do another week of protein shakes. LOL

@@Jim1967 I wish the loose skin surgery was covered, mine doesn't cover it, of course I've got a ways to go before I worry about it, but I can already tell my upper legs are going to look really baggy if I lose the weight I want to lose.

    Self Control ?

@@JustWatchMe oh absolutely he works hard I wasn't argueing with him, I actually want what he's got. @@Jim1967 I understand this head hunger right now because I'm just starting out, I've actually cried I wanted something so bad but knew that I had just eaten that I was not physically hungry I want that to go away so bad, I hope it gets easier. Sometimes I get so scared that I'm going to go back to my old ways cause I used to eat myself into discomfort, before the band I even had stomach issues and there was food that would hurt me before the band and I ate despite the pain so sometimes I'm really scared. People don't realize food really is a drug for some of us, I'm tearing up now just typing this. I want counseling but my insurance wont cover it for some reason.

And this is why I WALK ALONE!

I hate to get on here and vent but my mother in law drove me banonkers (bananna + bonkers) today, She invites me to walk with her down at the AG center, there are 2 trails there one goes 2miles around then there is a smaller trail that goes around some woods for about a mile around, now this is where I got my start, walking I told her about this trail, but since I have a treadmill I left off walking there when it turned off cold. Anyhow my mother in law is a ver fit person she walks on her own property behind her house up a logging trail 4 miles mostly uphill and a lot of it is steep, the AG center is mostly flat ground. Her and three other ladies have recently been walking down there every Sunday 4 miles, and asked me if I wanted to come. Immediatley she starts calling attention to how slow I am, 1st words out of her mouth were "Your going to have a hard time catching up." Then she turns and says she just can't walk at such a slow pace and is going to go on, I tell her to go ahead, she says "You see Angel we are going to walk ALL the way around" I understand that I told her just go on, but she's making wide circles like I have no idea what I'm in for. They go on ahead of me but I kept them in sight most of the walk. I walked three miles in all I went back to the car and found 10 dollars in the field on my way back, I was just really upset with how impatient she was being. To top it all off she gets back to the car and says pretty good for a beginner. grrrr.

    Gaining weight

@@twztdzsgrl i am sorry I was looking off to the side and read you gained 2lbs, not that 8 is really horrible but given your situation I can understand your frustration. My aunt when she had cancer, took some treatments that actually caused her to gain weight. Have you talked to your Dr. maybe he can see you before 4 weeks is up if you explain the situation. Hope it works out for you.

    Starting over...

Call your Dr. at least let him know. Don't be embarassed you can't undo what you did, just move forward, My Dr. was upset with me for eating muddy buddy chex mix 1 month after my surgery so mentally prepare yourself, he might lecture you, don't let that stop you from going though, it's not pleasant to have someone tell you what you already know, but it's not the end of the world, my guess is your Dr. wants to see you succeed as much as you want to succeed. I'm not saying eating all that was okay right after surgery, it was risky, but your not the 1st one to do it or the last. Good luck.

    Gaining weight

you were banded a month before me, I gained 2lbs between surgery and my 1st fill I have since had another fill, how often are you seeing your Dr.? don't worry too much about a weight gain though like the person above said it's a marathon not a race, and there are days when I can retain as much as 5 or 6lbs of Water. Don't give up.
  10. He gave me one before my surgery which is 125, I do better though by setting small goals for myself, I'm 8lbs from losing my 1st 100lbs and that's my goal right now 8lbs, my next goal will be to get to 199, and so forth and so on.

    Self Control ?

I see your point, I think everyone comes to wls for different reasons, my particular problem is not in losing weight, I can lose weight but at some point in the process usually during a platuea I get bored, then I get upset watching people of a normal weight being able to eat whatever they want, and that's when I lose my resolve. I am actually hoping to get to a point in my restriction where the hard work I have already done is maintained by my band, I do want it to be there to remind me not to go back to my old self. I want my band to say "Hey stupid, not another bite, mind me now" lol but to get to this point I'm exercising self control til the band starts working for me, right now I am doing most of the work and the bi-weekly visits to my Dr. is what is keeping me accountable, cause he does expect me to try. Congratulations with your continued success I do look at you veterans and hope I get to where you are real soon.

Does Obamacare cover weight loss surgery ?

@@Alex Brecher I live in KY and have Coventry Cares of KY mine was covered and approved within 2 weeks of finishing a 6 month of Dr. Supervised weight loss. It will cover it if you have 2 co morbidities and a BMI of 35, it will cover a BMI over 40 almost automatically.
  16. So glad things are finally working for you. It doesn't make sense to me a surgeon wouldn't want to take a stray patient, I mean money is money, but I'm glad you found a nice one willing to help you.

    Losing weight too fast/Feeling bad

Depression sucks!! I suffer from clinical depression I have to take my meds, and stay on top of taking care of myself, are you on meds for it, have you thought about a change of meds if you are, or have you considered talking with your Dr. about taking them, that's totally up to you, sometimes counseling can help but with clinical depression you sometimes need more help. Whatever you decide to do, please post when your feeling low. We're here to help.

@@blondiebabs someone in the group reminded her of my height when I finished the 1st lap, the lady that did that actually stood and waited for me to finish she isn't unusually tall she's 5'3 but that's still 5 inches taller than me, and add to it she has over developed leg muscles from all the hill walking she does and she doesn't weigh much either not scrawny but she's not carrying extra weight, if she thought I was slow down there sunday, she should have seen me before when I started walking weighing 321 it took me an hour to walk half a mile now it takes me 45 minutes to walk 2.
  24. I chose the band, because it seemed to be the best option for me personally, I did look at the other procedures and I decided that if something does happen to the band I can go with the sleeve later but let's try not cutting my stomach 1st. I am fully supportive though of anyone's weight loss choice.

    STUCK BUT NOT STUCK

wow I'm just starting out seeing that you've been able to keep the majority of your weight off gives me hope. I wish I had some advice for you, the only thing I can think of is look at your calories or bump up your exercise, but you might have done that already.
