first time I watched the show in years and it made me very upset. -
Serious Question. How is WLS the "wrong way"?
amponder replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
I think some of it comes from seeing it as the easy way, and I think some people see us finally having success and get jealous, all of a sudden my Mother in Law, and a friend of mine seem to be in competition with me to prove they can do it without it, more power to them! My Mother in Law is not nearly as heavy as me, but when she stops her diets she does exactly what I used to do, she says her diet is done, and goes back to her old eating ways, my other friend is fairly heavy just much taller and does the same thing. What's the definition of insanity again? I think that if your morbidly obese and you have been a majority of your life, then surgery is a wonderful option. I was watching Biggest Loser last night and one of the Drs was praising a man for losing the weight and dissed WLS while he was talking to him, how many of those contestants gain their weight back? I know you were wanting feedback perhaps from people who were against the surgery but this is just my opinion. -
So I was watching my 600lb life last night, I often watch it happy that I hadn't gained that much weight, but I also root for those people too. I couldn't sleep so I wound up watching another show called My weight is killing me, There was a fellow on there he was tall and weighed around 525lb, The Dr. was talking about his BMI which was 61, and how they don't like to operate on people with extremely high BMI that he needs to lose weight before surgery to make it less risky. BOOM MIND BLOWN.... MY BMI at 321 was 67.9 and here I am thinking I hadn't let myself get that far, but because I am so short statured I had let myself get that far, My insurance wanted me to lose only 5% but I did get my BMI down to 52 before surgery, the Dr. didn't even say that's what he wanted. I knew I had a high BMI but I didn't realize really how serious it was, until this show. I really was in denial, comforting myself with the fact that I didn't weigh 600lbs wasn't I, I wouldn't have lived to reach 600lbs.

I bumped up my workout a little today, I was walking 2mph on a 2% incline for 30 min. I bumped it up to 2.2mph same grade for 40 minutes, but ya know that may not be sprinting but when I started I was walking 1mph for 30min, on the same treadmill it has a weight limit of 300lbs I weighed 321 so with every step it would stop when both feet were on it at the same time.

I am glad you are having a better experience, I don't understand why your Dr. wouldn't listen to you but I'm glad you found one that did. -

Soft foods/weight gain?
amponder replied to PSRS520's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't gain weight on soft foods but I didn't really lose much either, try not to stress over it. I ate a whole tub of cottage cheese when i was allowed back on them -
Eating Disorder and getting healthy
amponder replied to Rebeccaabrooks86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to binge eat, but never purged, good for you for realizing you need extra help, good luck, hopefully you can find another Dr. that might help you, just be honest with them. -
I find that when I'm around some of my trigger foods I get cranky I've decided it's like a food addicts way of jonesing, I'm glad I read this, because I posted this in another group I'm in for depression about this same issue. I did read that when we are losing a lot of weight our hormones are actually fluctuating quite a bit which can cause mood swings.

I'm not RIGHT, you're not WRONG, WE ARE DIFFERENT.
amponder replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
@@LipstickLady I love the part about you weighing yourself, I so do the same things. I also wear the same clothes to my weigh ins cause I know exactly how much I will weigh when they adjust for clothing lol. -

amponder replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
Sorry just don't agree. Yeah my philosophy is take it with a grain of salt. We are all different and some of us have had different surgeries even, but we all had WLS for the same reason. So we all know what it's like to be obese, so let's just support each other the best way we know how. -
Support...Struggling to be supportive!
amponder replied to ButterflyMiss's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with those suggesting marriage counseling or couples therapy, the one thing I want to adress for you a bit, is you being against surgery after he has tried and failed and tried and failed. If he could make those diets work for him and maintain, he would have done it by now, he is 30, I wish i could have done it when I was 30, think of how much longer you will get to enjoy him when his health issues are resolved. I am 38 and Got heavy around the time I hit 21 losing weight and gaining it back is my specialty, WLS can be a big motivator in keeping the weight off because you've gone through all this trouble even risking your life a bit to lose weight, most people do not have surgery unless they are serious about losing the weight. As for your finacial issues I won't speak to those, I understand your frustrations there, and that's the main reason I say I agree with couples therapy. Good luck. -
I don't get to watch much TV, and not sure I want to admit to anyone, that I like Dance Moms, My 600lb life, and most shows on lifetime on Tuesday nights lol, Tuesdays are my night the rest of the time the kids pretty much are watching Star Wars and Dog with a Blog.

I know Dr Mobley would do it here in KY. 35 BMI with a comorbidity is covered by medicaid here.
