  1. I know the lady meant well, I'm not even mad at her, but I stopped at one of my favorite stores today, which is a discount food store, it's outdated food but it's still good, I buy mostly coffee and some cleaners, toilet paper, they have good Protein bars etc. and for my husband when your done shopping there is bakery bread a couple days old but it's good and with every purchase you can pick out the bread you want, anyhow I get home, and there are these rasberry filled pastries in my bag, glazed and white sugar coated, I tried to give them to my MIL but she is on her own diet, so that being said I hope the neighbors german shephard don't get sick, but they shouldn't let him run free if they don't want him eating rasberry filled pastries either.
  2. I was allowed yogurt on my pre op diet I don't know why your doc scratched it off all docs are different I wasn't allowed any food at all and some on here were allowed a light meal, like grilled chicken and salad.

Lady are you trying to kill me!

LOL okay I am going to clear something up just in case I've given everyone the impression I'm trying to make my neighbors dog obese, the pastries were free, I would never feed something like that to a dog on a regular everyday basis I have an indoor dog myself named Pepper, he is half blue tick beagle and half jack russell terrier and if he gets any table scraps at all it is usually just scrambled eggs from my kids Breakfast. We actually don't produce a lot of leftovers we are a family of 5 with a 13 year old boy going on 14 who plays football and is into weightlifting and I kid you not always hungry. My husband brought home a free ham from work the other day and that's the 1st time in a while I re purposed food, I cubed it up and made some potatoe soup with what was left. I just want everyone to know I'm not out to hurt this poor dog I just didn't want those sweets home alone with me in the house and the dog just happened to be in my front yard, he lives a good mile from my house, my 13 year old might of ate them but he is spending a week with an aunt while his uncle is in New York, he has to help her reach things as she has an artificial hip and can't stand for long periods at a time.
  4. I am not from Illinois but i have medicaid in KY, and the 1st 2 stipulations you list are the same in KY the 3rd is slightly different it's only 5% of body weight here. I had no trouble getting approved. I hope it goes just as well for you and someone can come along and answer this.

Lady are you trying to kill me!

Well, it's like I said, the dog is allowed to roam the neighborhood tearing up stuff and had I put my garbage out with pastries in it, he would have tried to get to it anyways, don't worry this dog gets plenty of exercise, chasing his owner's tractor all over the place, he probably can work it off better than I can.
  6. I am fortunate enough to have won a shopping spree a couple of years ago and own my own treadmill, for me the problem is running out of the right kind of foods. I keep canned roast beef and chicken and tuna stockpiled for those times I can't cook.
  7. same reason people post pics of their lunch on facebook, unless you can share it with me I could care less what your lunch looks like, now if it's a recipe and a pic I don't mind but just some random shot of your lunch, I don't get it.
  8. I have already posted in this one once, but Saturday I believe a lady topped anything that has ever been said to me, I went to my cousins wedding, and my aunt introduced me to her mother in law, I've never met this woman, my aunt says "This is Angel, remember I told you about her" the lady looks me up and down and says " I thought you said she was losing weight."

    Family Struggle

@CheleLynn45 I guess all Drs are different but my Dr. says because they go right through the band they don't make you full like they are supposed to so it's possible for some people to overeat by drinking Protein shakes, he wants ALL my protein to come from food the Protein drinks for a band patient is in pre-op stage and the 1st 3 wks of after surgery.

    Drinking with meals

I sometimes will drink with food usually when I'm done eating for the day I let the 1hr rule slide but I make sure I've not gone over my calorie limit for the day, also my band is loose right now, I may stop breaking that rule when it's tighter.

    Nothing but problems! :-(

I am sorry your going through this, my 1st thought was why no Doctor had suggested the sleeve to you. I know you don't want another surgery but I hope you will at least give it some thought.
  14. So when I began this I was in a tight 28 now depending on how they are made I can wear an 18-22, This is starting to get expensive, I know I can go the thrift stores, there are times though even that is a bit much but my clothes are gettng really baggy, I'm not complaining it's not the world's most horrible problem, any advice on where to get decent clothes really cheap.
  15. Well, I do have a food addiction, but when I feel really hungry I have allowed myself to crossover to artificially sweetened coffee with hazelnut flavoring it doesn't add that many more calories to my day as I'm still losing, and it satifies something, on a really bad day I eat a lot of Protein. I am doing better. The urge to eat at times has been so bad I have cried. I am fighting though as hard as I can can't wait till my band is tight enough to really feel the restriction some people feel.

    Family Struggle

I have a very similiar situation, my husband will not change his habits of buying chips, pop, and things I can't have, unfortunately for me, he sometimes will go grocery shopping with out me on his way home for work because he is afraid I won't buy certain things and he's right I won't we have a budget and honestly because I went through a lot of trouble to have this surgery my health comes before bringing in lost of Snacks, as we speak I have nothing but Protein shakes that I can have for Breakfast tomorrow, because he did this if it hadn't been for a wedding I just went to tonight I wouldn't have got a decent dinner, which was turkey carrots cheese and a spoonful of potatoe salad. I don't expect him to change his eating habits 100% because it has to be his choice, but I do expect him to be more supportive of mine so we are going to go grocery shopping tomorrow or the you know what will hit the fan. I actually am not to drink Protein Shakes anymore if my Dr. knew he'd throw a fit on me.

    Fructose and diabetes connection?

I think sugar is addictive, I really do agree with you wether it's corn syrup or white sugar I think in some people it triggers some sort of "feel good" response and we crave the sensation.

I wish I knew how to quit you, (fill in the blank)!

My husband....(oh you meant food) believe it or not I never drank coffee until I had surgery but I crave sweet and coffee and truvia just hit the spot. I love cheese, and I don't even want to smell chocolate that's how bad I am about that.
  23. @@IcanMakeit while I appreciate your POV, I feel I am protesting for myself, I matter and my choice of surgery matters and being shamed on a public show matters and if enough bariatric patients respond, not just us, it might get noticed and it might not, but we tried. Every stand starts with something, from this may seem minor, but I see what he done as a way of fat shaming, we were too lazy so we chose surgery and since a large part of their audience is obese and may have had surgery or are considering surgery I think it does matter.
  24. LOL I am on my 1st internet battle on there a lady named Deanna just posted on someones that WLS patients do not have to excercise, that it's easier than what the contestants did. While I am thrilled for those contestants that get on there and lose the weight and are able to make a lifestyle change and keep it off, our way is not easy.

    dash diet?

My Dr. gave me this diet to control high blood pressure, eliminate bread and pasta and it's fine for lapband, but you'll get tired of all lowfat meat it's okay to change it up a little bit, this is a lifestyle change, bread is according to my Dr. not supposed to be eaten even whole grain toast according to him but all Docs have different things to say.
