SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

I try not to let stuff bother me, I think it's important to remember, just like life there are those in forums, who enjoy stirring the pot and getting the reaction. I try to stay away from those who can't have a difference of opinion like a human being. We all don't have to agree on everything, but it would be nice if we could all be polite when we do disagree. Frozen Foods Month – The WLS Way!

Atkins, is higher in fat, but they have some great high Protein frozen meals, with very low net carbs, their Chili is some of the best I've ever had.

    Question

Are you on your pre-op diet, or is this all you've been able to eat today? Protein drinks are really healthy and the meal you've chosen sounds right on, to me.

"picky eaters" - my pet peeve

I know this is directed more towards WLS patients, but I have son with a sensory issue, and unfortunately it is possible to become overweight by being a picky eater, and when I say sensory issue, I don't mean that he just refuses to eat, many textures of the food he tries to eat causes him to vomit, the ones that don't make him vomit are often not the ones that are good for him, he exists on peanutbutter, chicken, strawberries, apples, mashed potatoes, grilled cheese, corn, and cheese pizza and broccoli but not the stalks. He often doubles up on the food he does like because he only eats one thing usually on his plate.

Tell me what makes YOU special.

Well, I am smart with an amazing memory, except I FORGOT both of those things for a few years, I have lost enough weight now that I went job hunting and landed at a school bus garage where I am studying my CDLS Class B with a passenger endorsement, in 4 days I finished all the book work and took the 100 question exam, now on to my permit. I worked at a nursing home in my 20's and Had every patient but ones medications memorized, I would only look at their medication chart for changes. The one I couldn't remember literally took about 50 pills daily it was crazy. I am also bubbly when I feel better on my job interview he scored it, I peeked on personality, I got a 10 out of 10.
  7. Well, just touching base, I finally lost a full 100 pounds, My band still isn't tight, due to weather I haven't made it back to the Dr. Since Feb 8 I think, I'm doing fairly well, but I'm a little bummed mostly because without the band being tight enough I feel like I have been on a DIET for 10 months, and today I broke down and ate some of my sons Jango bars (blondies basically) Now this is the first really bad cheat I've done since November I am just getting a bit frustrated and since I am low carbing it, any time I indulge in something a little carbier (he he is that a word?) than usual there will be a weight gain sometimes as much as 4 lbs for one little cheat. I see my Dr. on the 23rd and because he reacted badly to my last cheat I don't know how honest I can be whenever it happens.
  8. @@briefs199 You know I'm happy to have lost 100lbs but I am having to fight so stinking hard for every pound right now and I feel like I'm expected to be perfect. I am back on track today with grilled chicken and squash and a few sugar free popscicles.
  9. I eat bacon too, I find it too hard to do low carb and low fat together, some of my go to's are chicken wings usually buffalo, or traditional bone in, with a little ranch dressing, and of course chilli is always a good option. I also had a restaurant serve me a turkey burger wrapped in lettuce, I was surprised how satisfying it was.
  10. I am not a bypass patient but have you tried the Atkins frozen meals my Dr. recommends those except for the pizza they are very high in protein.

    "Fat" jeans

I have a pair of 28s that I've not gotten rid of yet, but I have decided to stop wearing them cause the last time I was out in them they nearly fell off. See if you can find the same brand of jeans in your size.

    LLAP

Since the lounge description says it can be off topic I am wondering if anyone out there is as sad as I am that Leonard Nimoy died today. I discovered Star Trek at 7 yrs of age, it came on CBS right after the news at 11;30 on Friday nights, and My Mom and Dad allowed me to sit up and watch it, and Nimoy's Spock was the character that drew me to the show right away, I am not a Trekkie in the sense that I go to comic con or know the number of episodes, I just loved the show and loved the actor, he will be missed by me, I feel as if I lost a childhood friend who grew up with me. RIP Leonard Nimoy Set phasers to Weep.

Ugh I cheated and feel crappy!

@@JoieDeBanded are you in the pre op? I don't tell people this much but I cheated a few times during my pre op and still lost 18lb, I'm not giving you permission to cheat, but if you can jump back on the wagon right after it usually turns out okay.

    Snowed IN

I realize those north of us have much more snow, but because KY. is not used to this type of weather it is often ill prepared to deal with 18 inches of snow, and -17 degrees so forgive me if anyone is reading this and laughing at me because you have 6ft or something. Anyhow, my treadmill broke, and at this point in my "Banded life" it is the more useful tool to combating my weight to make matters worse my husband tried to fix it, and now I believe it really is unfixable, I am so bummed, you see I didn't purchase this treadmill, I won a trip to Chicago off shopyourway.com and got to take a 1,000 dollar shopping spree with Sandra Lee at K-mart and this was one of my cherished items. I am currently using my Wii Fit free step mode and Hula hoop game to get excersize but I barely break a sweat. BOO HOO Poor me, I am having a pity party.

    Sex

I am going TMI here but even with the weight I have lost my husband's favorite thing because we are both heavy is that our stomachs don't get in the way any more. Sometimes what we fixate on isn't what our partners are thinking about. Sex was getting challenging physically and now it's so much easier and better.
  22. That's a tough question, I remember weight loss surgery being new when I was 27 years old and weighed 211 lbs. I wanted it then, but the safety risks were a bit higher 12 years ago and laproscopic surgery wasn't being used. So I a going to go with age 32 that's a year after my 3rd and last child, 10 years after many failed dieting attempts and when the surgery had really been proven and the mortaility rate was going down. As far as my child I hope to God above that they are watching me now and saying to themselves, let's adopt healthier eating habits, and keep active so we won't have surgery like mom, I hope this is teaching them something, but if one of mine just can't shake obesity, I feel partly to blame, and they will have my full support no matter what age they choose to do it.

Serious Question. How is WLS the "wrong way"?

@@samuelsmom I think there is a big difference in worrying about the safety of it, I personally know 1 person who died after the sleeve a year later, he wasn't taking his niacin I believe, and a cousin of mine was very sick after his surgery, I was considering WLS and I asked him one question, "knowing what you do now, would you still do this?" He said "absolutely" I made up my mind that if I died during surgery or after for some reason I died trying. It finally sunk in that my high blood pressure was going to kill me if surgery didn't, and I don't hate you before I became obese I used to be critical of obese people I used to stare too. It's all about perspective isn't it.

@@kyrickchick64 say it isn't so, maybe we could all go ice skating. @@gowalking The warranty has expired, and what is upsetting me so bad is my stepdad was going to look at it, he is much handier than my dh about mechanical things, he was going to look at the belt, my husband though took a knife and cut the belt a little and the whole thing came apart, it cost 150 to replacae the belt, I paid 300 for it on sale (well it was free technically) for another 150 I could probably just get a brand new one. I am feeling better I did the free run on Wii where you run in place and that actually kicked my butt, I don't usually jog and am surprised I was able to endure it that long, then I followed it by free stepping and my favorite snow ball fighting, plus Ive done quite a bit of house work today, I just needed some whine time.
