How much Water did they say to get in? Most say 64 oz. I got a 64 oz bottle, and would fill up my little shot glass all day. It taught me to sip constantly.

Increasing to 90 grams of Protein?! WTH!
OKCPirate replied to JennsJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do a couple of eggs and meat in the morning, but I put pipingrock.com unflavored Protein powder in my coffee. I do a greek yogurt around 10:30 with more powder. If you do that, it will get you around 25 more grams per day. A few ounces of meat 2 hours before or after dinner will get you to that goal. -

Can I increase my protein this way?
OKCPirate replied to reachbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@OutsideMatchInside - There does seem to be an upper limit of Protein absorption in terms of break down of the amino acids and utilization for muscle growth. This does not mean that going over 30g is bad or it is wasted. That would make no sense from an evolutionary standpoint when you think of it. spotmebro.com/layne-norton-phd-on-protein-how-much-and-how-often/ I think this article nails it. Now if you want to look at this from the article @@OutsideMatchInside mentioned, yes, absolutely, you are going to get the most bang for the buck get up to 30g per meal spaced out 2-3 hours. And there are people who's body doesn't absorb protein well and they really need to pay attention to this. Esp. those with certain liver problems. For the average WLS patient, trying to get 30g in a meal would be tough to do if you are doing this with meat. Since most of the digestion of shakes occurs in the lower intestine, knowing that your shake is going to quickly pass through your sleeve, if you have a healthy liver, having a 40g shake isn't going to hurt you. Anything the body can't absorb for muscle, will be used for other purposes. Four ounces of steak is approximately 30g of protein, but none of this is perfect. It depends on the steak, fat content and preparation. And then the rate of absorption is going to depend on the individual, age and activity. So I totally agree, best to break this down in single meals, spaced out through the day. But going over 30g with a shake, is nothing to worry about (except for the rare liver disorders and they should know who they are) and not a waste. -
@@Andrea72 - great job. This has got to be doing wonders for your self image and confidence. About how old are you? (so others can get a sense of how big this change is).

@@aronbd - congrats. Just so others who are interested can get an idea of what you did to get to where you are...do you mind telling everyone your age range, and what you do for exercise etc.? You are a good example for many. And yes, no doubt, losing weight opens many doors, professionally and personally.

I don't think there is a limit to how much protein the body can absorb, there is a limit to how much it needs for muscle repair. The rest goes into energy. http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/health-fitness/healthy-eating/know-your-nutrients/how-much-protein-can-the-body-absorb @@reachbree - I still mix some unflavored in my flavored mix. That is just personal taste. I also add a little unflavored to my yogurt. -
And how do you make 10 pounds of fat beautiful? Put a nipple on it. sorry I tried but I just could not help myself.

The stomach/sleeve "stretching" is a myth. It just doesn't. The problem with carbonation is that is often very painful, esp. early on. If you search "alcohol" you will find a bunch of info on the subject in various forums on the site. It is a subject that is highly controversial and there is great division within the medical side, and the patient side. Some of it's personal preference presented as fact. But the empty calorie argument is a fact. And you did invest in your health. You have a six month or so honeymoon phase. This is the time when you are most likely to lose the most weight. You have a great second chance. Now this is my opinion: it's just too easy to lose this great opportunity if you drink before you hit your goal. Then proceed with caution. We are all adults, we can make our own decisions. I think if you poke around, you will find people who have no problems alcohol and others that do. (Just like non-WLS people). I'm a bit of evangelist for WLS, and I hope everyone who uses the tool, really grabs this opportunity for a very abundant healthy life.

"This was the best thing I ever did"

No more blood pressure meds, CPAP, and two other medications are gone. I can have sex without feeling like a sweaty out of breath blob (and its fun to actually see what is going on down there and not just my stomach). And then there is this stuff Best decision I have made in a long time. -
@@Wolfgirl78 - I wasn't saying you were molested, I just said it reminded me of that story (though I have always wonder why my buddies very hot girl friend was ALWAYS pulled out for extra screening. Every single time.) Just a reminder, despite their badges, TSA isn't law enforcement. If you have a problem, don't mess with them, get a REAL cop (abbreviated LEO on the frequent flyer sites). I fly way too much, and that agency is the pits.

Note to would be trolls ...This is supposed to be the way a controversial subject should be discussed. Mine was an automated bipap machine with built in monitoring. When I went over 3 weeks without incidents I gave it to my mom because her's died. I found one of these units used for $300, so I bought it, and the data was great. http://www.thecpapshop.com/respironics-bipap-autosv-advanced-system-one-1?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Shopping%20-%20All%20Products&gclid=Cj0KEQjwwMi7BRDGptbvwOCDj8oBEiQAIALyDCjyFJYdQinfL9pMb3BdFOJRmPVzzVGFFwZ8TVadjtoaAh4O8P8HAQ

@Wolfgirl78@VSGButterfly404 - just reminds me of this story from Denver where two perverts conspired to molest guys... http://www.denverpost.com/2015/04/14/sexual-predators-at-the-tsa/ I really hate this agency. https://scontent-dfw1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-0/s526x296/10320500_10152385977864216_7852533717159427012_n.jpg?oh=eaacfb7535560f8b9e30126ab98605e4&oe=57FC9368 But so do many. How old is too old to be sleeved?
OKCPirate replied to silverthreads's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How old do the women in her gene pool live? Realistically, if I live past 70 I'd be shocked. The guys in my family die from 52-65. But the women live close to 100. So think about it, if she has 21 more years or so based on a good guesstimate of family member longevity, it might be a better way to spend the next quarter of a century, as opposed to being stuck on one of those scooters. -
I preferred sleeping in my recliner the first few days home. It was just more comfy for a little while, but it got better when the incisions healed.
