This is my first TOM since being banded 2 weeks ago. Holy mackeral I feel tight! Granted, I probably still have some swelling but I've barely been able to get down a protein drink. I'm hoping that this is a new "perk" of the band!!

 OMG...Angie you are hilarious!!

Wooo hoooo Amanda!! That is awesome!! You're a tough cookie, girl. I'm so impressed with how you have bounced back after a rough start to things. Keep up the good work:thumbup::thumbup: I'm trying so hard not to weigh myself everyday. I don't want the scale to dictate my success but losing 20lbs in 3 weeks makes it hard to not want to see the numbers everyday. I think NSV's are a much healthier measure of success!! Keep it up Double V's and again...CONGRATS Amanda!!

Ok, so I know I'm only 9 days post-op, but the NSV's (non-scale victories) are already happening. Other than my clothes starting to get way too big, I had a moment tonight that made me smile. We have a two car garage and when both our our cars are in there it's a TIGHT fit. I always try so hard to park as close to the wall as possible but it nevers seems to be enough. I open the door and I have to SQEEEEZZZEEE myself out of the car contorting my body, holding my breath and dropping "f-bombs" because it's so tight and I barely make it out of the car. Don't get me started on trying to schlep my purse and other crap with me!! Well, tonight I pulled into the garage opened the door and prepared for the usual debacle. I put my legs out and went to push myself out and whadya know.......I wasn't squeezing like I was in a clown car!! I didn't have to suck in my breath, get my clothes all dirty from leaning on the other car, just like normal scooted myself with no problem!! This little episode inspired me to change my screename from "Bigmarathoner" to "marathinner"...ha...ha get it? Anyway, hope you don't mind me sharing and I look forward to all of us sharing the MANY victories to come!! Party on, Valentine's....party on!! Amy

Been thinking about you StLouisGal!! Welcome home. Get your rest and congratulations on being a bandster!!

jnfwilds- I think you bring up a great point. COMPROMISE!! I think your coffee alternative is a great one. I hate to beat this cliche to death, but EVERYTHING IN MODERATION!! The fact that you made a change yet are still satisfied with your "coffee fix" is what this process is all about. I know my nutritionist is a stickler about our post-operative program but she has been fantastic in working with me to find alternatives that have worked for me. I say GOOD FOR YOU!! Oh and thanks for the mushi suggestions. The rotisserie chicken sounds yummy!! I'm moving to mushies tomorrow....THANK GOD!! Keep up the good work and keep being creative with your choices. Amy

Hi Michelle my fellow Mardi Gras bandster.. Yes, I'm in the same boat as you! We are healing and the swelling is going down. Because we are not "filled" our little pouches can tolerate increased volumes of food. I had my first post op appt yesterday and talked to my doc about this exact topic. He said we will notice the ability to take in more volume but should still have some "slight" restriction. After surgery I was only able to get down 2 oz of liquid, now I can get down 4-6. He kept reiterating that we are continuing to heal and to "stick to the program" which is eat slowly, stick to the outlined diet, and listen to our bodies. It sounds like you are doing everything perfectly!! Oh..I also told my doc I was starting to feel hungry and he said "yes, you will feel hungry, but get in the required Protein and you will be fine". So, I guess the bottom line is stick to the program!! I know that I plan on ramping up my exercise this week which should help keep the scale going in the right direction. Again Michelle, you are doing awesome!! Keep it up!! Amy

Jax-I'm 3 days away from mushies and your tuna experience sounds heavenly...LOL!! Did you mix it with a little mayo or just eat it plain? You sound like you are doing WONDERFUL in your recovery. I had my first post-op appt today and am feeling fab!! Got my first fill appt scheduled and just enjoy each new day of this journey. Looking forward to ramping up the exercise next week. Congrats on your NSV.....you'll be wearing itty-bitty chaps showing off your small booty in no time!! Keep me posted on your mushie delights!! Amy

Calling all February Bandsters!

GO GLYNDA!! Can't wait to hear an update once you're on the other side. Hey drkel....sorry to hear about the slippage, but your enthusiasm about the band is infectious!! As far as a marathon.....GO FOR IT!! I trained for and completed my first marathon in October. It was one of the best days of my life and I will start training for my second starting in April. The big difference will be that now I have my band and will be hopefully running with a lighter body!! Good luck with your surgery and keep us posted on your progress. Amy -
Sheesh...what a mind "F"!!! That would have rattled me. Don't get me wrong, it's all good for you doc, but they should have had a protocol for this situation!! I'm so sorry that happened and don't beat yourself up for going out to dinner. Thank goodness they rescheduled you for next week not next month!! Hang in there...you will do great!! Amy (aka "marathinner" formerly "Bigmarathoner"

Apples..I'm SO proud of you!! Way to kick some ass!! Keep goin'...you're on the fast-track to success. Amy (aka "marathinner" formerly "Bigmarathoner")

StLouisGal....we will all be sending you the positive "mojo"!! You're going to do GREAT!! Let us know how you do when you feel up to it!! -
I'm doing great too. Plus (and I hate to rub this in) it's a beautiful 70 degree day here in sunny San Diego!! (I know...NOT FAIR). My energy is so much better now that I can add in a little more sustinance. I hear ya on the water. I'm not quite at 64oz but I'm getting there. I'm going to venture onto the treadmill tonight!! Trying to get creative with the full liquid phase. But anything is better than just clear liquids!! Glad you are doing so well. Keep me posted on your progress!! AMy

Hey Patti... When do you get to move to mushies? How are you feeling one week post. Since we were banded on the same day, thought I would compare notes. Amy
-
Mmmmmm...that sounds YUMMY. Thanks for that one Amanda!! My doc seems to be stricter with liquids. Basically only shakes, cream soups and watered down Cream of Wheat (ick). I have a post op appt of Friday and am hoping he advances me. We'll see. Keep sharing those recipes. Amy

Aveamora...you crack me up girl!! I'm so glad you sailed thru surgery and are home recovering. You'll be replacing that pic of Cameron with yourself in no time!! Awesome job. Keep walking, sipping and resting!! Amy -
Well....I just got onto full liquids and tonight I'm going to mix together some canned Cream of Broccoli Soup and a can of Campbells Cheese Soup...hence broccoli/cheese soup!!

A half-marathon is 13.1 miles and full marathon is 26.2 miles. I know.....CRAZY! I trained for 7 months and walk/trotted the whole way. But I finished!!I trained with a program called Team in Training which is part of the Leukemia/Lymphoma society. Incredible organization...they provide everything you need to train for and complete an event. If you can do a 10K, you CAN definitely do a half-marathon. Keep up the good work!!
-
Whosaydaddy...that is AWESOME!! Congratulations!! Is a half or full marathon in your future? I did the Nike Women's Marathon is San Fran in October.....all 240lbs of me!! Now that I'm banded and losing weight, I can't imagine how great the next one will be. I start training in April. Keep it up....that is a HUGE accomplishment!! Amy

Horns....everyone is bound to hit a plateu for whatever reason. Based on your ROCKIN' avatar, I suggest you bust out some Van Halen (my favorite band of all time) and burn som calories !!
