  1. I'm a bit freaked out I'm not losing enough. I had my surgery Nov 14 and my starting weight was 345lb - it's now Aug (9 months) and I've only lost 80lb. In the last 3 months I've only managed to lose 7lb. 3 months is a long stall. Any tips/help?
  2. Thanks Jamie - that's very encouraging to know
  3. Hi, Thanks for that. You're right I do need to get stricter. Up until I slowed down I hadn't done any exercise. So I started walking 60 mins a day and was really frustrated I lost practically nothing. I'll just have to get back to basics
  4. All I seem to see on here are how amazing everyone is doing, how they're the model patients, getting all their Protein, Vitamins, Water intake, daily hours in the gym etc. I had my surgery in Nov 14 and here's what I e learnt so far.... 1) some foods that are bad for you are easier to eat e.g chocolate 2) I'm still hungry and I still crave all the food I did before 3) you get bored or the same food choices very quickly 4) Protein shakes, Protein Bars are disgusting 5) your breath stinks and you have a taste of metal/metallic in your mouth 6) you don't lose the weight as quickly as you might think/hope... but you do lose 7) the novelty of only being able to eat soft tiny portions wears off and sometimes you wish you could join the rest of the family for a big old dirty Chinese Having said all that it is worth it, I'm so glad I had it done. In 2 months I've lost almost 35 pounds. I thought I wouldn't be hungry... I am. I thought I wouldn't be able to eat chocolate/sweet stuff... I am. I've now accepted that and know I need to resist as much as I can.
  5. Thanks for the replies. The post was more of a rant than complaining. Again I stress I am thrilled I had the sleeve, I knew about some of what to expect, I knew my lifestyle choices would change. The main reason for the post was balance. I understand when you say you don't want to post the negative stuff, you just want the upbeat success stories and all that good stuff. All of that is great, it gives hope and promise however only posting the good stuff is not reality. People do not come here to get a "Disneyfied" version of WLS. I WANT to know all the shit people have to deal with. If every other post is a "I got out of surgery Tuesday, back to work Thurs and running a marathon by Sunday" .... It makes the vast majority feel like failures before they even begin. I want to urge people to post all your crap as well as the good stuff so this site can be more balanced than it currently is!

    Recipe help!

Cheesecake made with light Philadelphia and add unflavoured protein powder?
  7. Hi, I'm just wondering if it's normal for a part of your stomach to feel numb after surgery. I'm 1 month post op
  8. I was the same, I was sitting in the hospital room post op salivating over ads on TV for Burger King or Dominos. I still do (I'm 3 wks post op) but now I've a bit more variety in my diet so it's easier
  9. I find it SO hard to get my protein. I don't like shakes and at the moment I can eat very little. It's 2.5 wks since my surgery. I haven't thrown up until the last 2 days and now it seems everything I eat I throw up including vitamins etc

    Really discouraged

If you're only having protein shakes and water I'd have a look at your shakes, how many calories are in them? Like the others said you need to lose 40-50lbs before anyone starts to notice
  11. I didn't tell my employer either. They knew I was having surgery and that's all the information I gave.

    Sweets

Hi, I'm 1 wk post op now. Like you I have such a sweet tooth. I have been having serious hunger pangs and cravings for days. I had hoped they would stop post op. Contemplating having a little chocolate today....
  13. I'm just wondering if anyone here would recommend the bypass over the sleeve or wish they had the bypass instead?
  14. Thank you to everyone that has replied to my question. My surgery is Tuesday and I was having a lot of doubts if I made the right decision to go for the sleeve over the bypass. I'm much more content with my decision now thanks to you guys.
  15. Hi, I'm just wondering if there's anyone from Ireland on here. I'm about to have my surgery this month. In the middle of pre op diet ATM and it's tough!!
