  1. I'm not talking about being deceptive about what I'm having done--I'm just simply not telling many people. Hubby and sons of course--i told my brother because I was asking him questions about his RNY he had several years ago(he thought I was asking for my son(who is big also). Other than that, I believe I have only told about 5 people max. I'm having it done the week between Christmas and New years. That is my slow time at work(I own a quilt shop), so I just plan on being closed that week I don't plan on lieing about it when I start losing the weight--when they ask, I will determine whether I want to tell them HOW I am doing it--or just say Thank you. I am in 2 different organizations where I see some people on a weekly basis--others month-6 month, etc. Mary
  2. I'm having mine done on 12/28--start the new years right!! Mary
  3. I'm having mine done on 12/28--and everyday I think of new questions! I know it is nerves--and ready to get on with this! Mary
  4. scheduled for 12/28 in Monterrey Mary:whoo:
  5. I own a Quilt Shop--I ama professional quilter which basically means, I have the machine and people hire me to finish their quilts and/or make them from scratch(right now I'm working on 4 quilts for the same family made from sports t-shirts) Mary
  6. the pt coordinator I have been working with has been great--she has answered every question--even silly ones--and I have never felt pressured to make a decision. Even while I was still trying to decide whether to have the surgery--much less who. The thing of it is-I don't even know where this guy got my name and email--I don't remember sending a request to his doc--but I may have-I sent several. And from what I have read hear-his doc is good. But if that is the attitude of the guy representing him--I wouldn't want anything to do with him!! Mary
  7. How Rude!! I have spent the past few months researching surgeons for the band. I finally made my choice and am scheduled for 12/28. yesterday I got an email from one of the pt coordinators for another doc-I replied-thank you for the info-i have chosen another doc and am scheduled. WELL--I got an email back that came across VERY rude and condescending--WHY would I even think of having my surgery elsewhere, when I could get the same thing only better for $1000 less!(How would he know that--I didn't tell him WHO I was going to!) Price was not my only consideration--yes I know there are some less expensive and some more. In fact, that very pt coordinator had quoted me a price that was $500 MORE. I went by responses I got from people here and on other forums--researched everything I could find before I made my decision. I researched the doc, the hospital, the town, the hotel--I mean EVERYTHING! I also looked at average airfare $ for different destinations. I am very comfortable with who I chose. I don't know whether to even reply to the pt coordinator-or just let it drop! Mary
  8. I understand any country not wanting to be the "dumping ground" for all manner of health problems and issues--just because the health care is free. but my question is this--why when anyone in the US says anything about illegal immigration and how much it is costing US--we are labeled as racist or bigotted? don't we have the same rights as any other country? Mary
  9. Reading this post, I can't help but laugh--there is an almost identical post from an "experienced" person complaining about all the newbies questions!! mary
  10. My husband and I own an auto repair business that also has a wrecker service. If we EVER had an employee who said or acted the way you have described--they would be GONE! I don't know where you are, but here-my wreckers cannot even show up at the scene of an accident unless they have been called. And the wrecker service portion of the business is NOT what pays the bills--it is a service--by the time you buy the trucks and pay the insurance(here they require the same amount as for 18-wheelers) and then pay an employee--it is either break even or in the whole!! Do I think there are bad apples out there who give us all a bad name?-Yes--but they represent the MINORITY of legitimate(if they are that) wrecker services Off my Jack-Stand now Mary
  11. Does anyone but me want to keep getting the band a secret? I am scheduled for 12/28 and just don't want to tell very many people. Is it a fear of failing "again" or just not wanting to go through "the discussion"? AND of the few people I am telling--even few of them know that I am going to Mexico to have it done--absolutely because I don't want THAT discussion!! My husband told his father and my f-i-l's remark was"I rather just be fat than have surgery" But like I told hubby--that's because he has no clue--but then most people don't! so--back to the question--do you tell people ahead of time--or wait till they notice Mary
  12. I know this sounds silly--but how long before you were able to drive? Is this even an issue? TIA Mary:car:
  13. I had the original RK surgery done in 94. I was really a "coke botle bottom lens" and wentto 20/20 Now I wear either reading glasses(or contacts that are so light they are like reading glasses)--but hey-I'm 52! Being "blind" is really frustrating--glasses/ccontacts get so much in the way and rules what you can or cant do. In my mind--it's kinda like the fat--no one else knows what you are feeling-unless you've been there. Just make sure it is a reputable/experienced doc and it really is a type of life changing proceedure Mary

  18. I scheduled mine today for 12/28--I KNOW that nervous wreck! Mary
  19. Well, I'm gonna do it! I scheduled the date for December 28th to get the lapband! Now I'm so excited--and a nervous wreck!! All words of wisdon are welcome!! Mary 12/28
  20. I would be interested in this also--while I'm not a professional singer, I do sing in an international championship chorus--and we will have a competition in march/april(i forget which!). I am looking at the first of Jan to have the band placed also
