Truly don't know what to do

Thank you to everyone that has replied and offered words of wisdom. I will keep trying. Yogurt of any kind, unfortunately, isn't an option for me. It's probably the only food I've had an aversion to my entire life, and it hasn't changed since surgery. I've tried mixing it into smoothies and dinner recipes...if yogurt is in it, I can taste it and I simply cannot tolerate it. My daughter is the same way when it comes to yogurt. However, I will continue to try getting my Genepro down and trying to eat high protein foods the best that I can. I will trust those of you who have said it's a phase and will pass. Good luck to those of you in the same boat as I am.

Truly don't know what to do

I do use the scoop. The scoop is 1Tbls in size. My repulsion isnt about how anything tastes...I just can't seem to swallow anything without activating my gag reflex. If it comes right back up, it was pointless, right?

I use Genepro. I bought it off Amazon. It's a smaller scoop. The serving size is only 1Tbls and it packs 30g protein. It's tasteless and 100% dissolvable

No no...the protein powder I just got "Genepro" is 30g per 1 Tbls. So that's perfect. But how much soup are you adding that to? I just made lemon pudding with 2 Tbls of protein (60 g). I'm eating a little now, but put the rest in popscicle molds for Jello Protein Pudding Pops!

I do. But I added protein powder to cream of potato last night and couldn't do it. How much protein powder do you use to how much soup? @@Elode maybe I added too much

@@jstrong630 how far out are you? And what are you allowed to eat?

Lol! @@Elode I appreciate your advice though! I know I probably sound "picky or finicky", but I swear, I've never had a picky finicky bone in my body. I'm praying it works itself out, because I really am concerned with malnutrition. Thank you again for your thoughts

Refried beans and cheese I enjoyed the first time I tried it, but that lasted a total of one time...then I couldnt stand to swallow even the first bite. NOTHING has a taste..I mean absolutely NOTHING. And the texture of everything going down is just grody!

I can't stand the full fluids foods either. I thought I was just sick of that phase, because I was feeling the same way with those. I think I may take your advice and go back to that phase anyway and do the best I can with it. Thank you!
  10. See I'm still struggling with food controlling me, and it's not because I'm craving or wanting something...24/7 I'm always trying to figure out what to fix that doesn't make me want to gag. I waste so much food "trying" things, in hopes that it is something I can swallow without gagging. I'm really struggling. To be honest, I wish I never had to even look at food again. But I also want to live, so.....

    Good News!

Congratulations! Getting approved and getting surgery date was such a huge burden off my shoulders. December 3 will be here so fast it'll make your head spin!

Surgery and Aunty Flow on the same day

I had surgery at 7am on October 21, spent that night, had a swallow study done the following morning, spent that night, and was discharged the next afternoon. I don't know why he keeps his patients two nights.

Surgery and Aunty Flow on the same day

I started the day after, and I was also worried about it. It wasn't a big deal, the only issue I had was that it was exceptionally heavy and lasted almost 10 days. The nurse told me it was due to the blood thinner shots that I got 2 times a day for 3 days during my time in the hospital.

    Was anyone sleeved outpatient?

I had a 2 night stay, with no complications, but my surgeon keeps us the first night because he requires a swallow study (to check for leaks) the next morning before we are allowed to drink or eat anything. I think the 2nd night, honestly, is to keep us comfortable on IV pain meds just a bit longer. I could have done outpatient easily, and would probably prefer it...although I sure loved those IV pain meds, the nurses won't leave you alone. I couldn't rest even though I was drugged outta my skull, because they came I'm every 3 hours on the dot, and sometimes in between. I agree with one of those posts above..your surgeon is only a phone call away if something DOES go wrong (and he won't send you home outpatient or not if you aren't ready to his standards). I think outpatient is a great idea.

    Coconut water?

My daughter in law is a vegetarian and truly the healthiest human being I've ever known..in so many ways. She takes her health very seriously. She SWEARS by coconut water. I think I'll pick some up. Thanks!

    What size is your sleeve?

@@Forsythia and @@Recycled I don't really care either, but I thought it would be interesting to hear the difference in surgeons, etc. I find the topic interesting.

    What are you excited for?

I'm excited for high heel shoes, pretty bras/panties, being able to cross my legs when I sit down, and for my shadow to be skinny. LOL I was sleeved Oct. 21, and I've lost 28 pounds so I'm on my way!! I actually can already cross my legs again but it's not comfortable for long.
  19. Yep. I had lost 10 pounds during the 2 week preop diet and when I got home 2 days after surgery, I had regained that 10 pounds. It took me 4 days to get it off.

    Something different!

Wow, I was allowed crystal light, sf jello, sf poscicles, iced tea sweetened with splenda, low fat strained creamed soups during my first two weeks post op. But that is my programs guidelines. I completely understand your boredom...I was going crazy on what I was allowed by 10 days out too. How bout making a call to your dietician and asking what they recommend? Be sure to specifically mention Crystal Light.

    What size is your sleeve?

I really don't know @@Megan00 I watched a video of the sleeve procedure on youtube and that surgeon simply said the size he was using is the common size they use in his practice. But as far as using a certain size according to weight, I was 237 the morning of surgery. So.... If that means anything.
  22. Yes, check with your surgeon, but I've been taking pill form of everything since the morning after surgery.

    A temperamental sleeve?

Off topic from this thread, but in regards to your reply @@MichiganChic What do you mean "at 2 years out, it's pretty easy to eat whatever I want"? Do you mean portion size (as in your sleeve can hold as big of a meal as what you want?) Or do you mean, you can eat any type of food without issue? I'm curious...I'm only 3 weeks out and I was under the impression that I would forever consume small portions for the remainder of my life.
  24. I don't enjoy eating anymore at all. I love the "idea" of it, but when I actually eat, it's so anti-climactic and disappointing.
  25. Hey guys, my husband and I went to a little chain diner known around SC. The Clock. How in the world do I log what I ate from there? I ordered chicken salad (no bread, no anything, and of course, I have LOTS leftover.). But I have no idea what ingredients they use. ???? I feel kinda dumb asking, but I really don't know how to do this. Thanks!
