You look great, congrats!!! ???? -
Great story!! Sorry about your loss but it sounds like it was the wake up call you needed. Congratulations on your accomplishments!! ????

I would say change up your diet and maybe your exercise. I haven't had surgery yet but I have been working out and eating healthier for a while. Whenever I felt stuck, I changed up my workouts and the food. Just a thought. I was doing chicken breast and green beans all the time so I added red meat once a week or so. It helped the scale move.

I am so excited. My surgeon's office just called they got my approval back from BCBS and I am set for March 25th!!!! ???? I'm ready to start getting this party started.
-
Thanks! I'm looking forward to putting on some old jeans that I can no longer wear as well. I'm so glad I found this site because I've only told my best friend and my aunt. I don't want everyone else's opinion so I decided to keep it to myself.

The waiting game ended today!
mechele8 replied to Ladiec2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just went through the same thing yesterday. My dr's office called, left a message and I called them back. My date is March 25th but I picked that date. My bariatric coordinator told me prior to submitting my packet that they give the insurance company a date when submitting the pre-authorization but it can be changed. Maybe that's where she got the date from that was quoted to you. Once you speak to the dr's office it will become clear. Congrats!! -
That's great! Keep up the good work.
-
Thanks everyone!!

I have BCBS Fed as well and my packet was submitted last Friday. I called on Wednesday and it hadn't been reviewed yet. I'm thinking since Monday was a holiday it may be next week before I hear anything.
-
Congrats on the approval!!! I'm waiting now but it's only been a week. It feels like it's been much longer. I just decided to stop focusing on it because my anxiety is causing me to snack on junk food. I had to let it go. I'm trying to stay away from those bad habits.

Hello! I'm Michelle, 43 yrs old, 299 lbs, 5'10. I started doing everything in October. It doesn't seem like a long time but it feels like a long time. LOL I was on a roll with all of my appointments but then hit a snag with this new primary care doctor. She was so paranoid about writing the referral that I ended up having to go back to my old doctor for it. I got a physical and she wrote the letter. Of course I had to pay for it, but whatever it was done. I faxed it yesterday. I'm really glad I did it this way because I found out I'm pre-diabetic. That scares me. A few family members suffer from diabetes and I don't want any parts of that. I have to do a sleep study this weekend to rule out sleep apnea but the coordinator at my surgeon's office said that will not stop her from submitting the information to my insurance company. Since I had a colonoscopy, I now know I have a hiatal hernia that he will repair during my surgery. I'm super nervous about that but my favorite saying is, "it is what it is".

It sure is ???? I think I'm giving myself anxiety. I will feel so much better after I get a response from insurance so we can get this thing moving. -
What's on your play list?

I love old school rap and anything with an up tempo. I have a pandora station that's pop & hip hop that works pretty well. Good luck!! -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
mechele8 replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What an excellent question!! For me, it was working out like crazy and watching the weight come off. I even shopped for new clothes because I had come down from a 22 to a 18. Then, my injuries from my Army days came to bite me. Knees were so swollen I had to get cortisone injections in both. My right ankle has scar tissue from surgery in 2007. That called for a cortisone injection in that too. So, I decided to do water aerobics. That worked great until the chlorine was clogging up my sinuses. I felt so defeated and tired. I have struggled with my weight since I got on the depo shot (birth control) while on active duty. A coworker had the sleeve done in 2013 and she looks great. After all of the surgeries I've had for service connected injuries, I did not want another one. However, I can't do it alone and my body won't cooperate with the workouts so I need the help. Therefore, I began the process in October and now awaiting insurance approval. Oh, I left out I have high blood pressure, prediabetic, and my joints are killing me!! ???????? I'm looking forward to putting in the work to make this tool get me back in the shape I used to be in. ???????? -

Keeping it a secret? Anyone else
mechele8 replied to Dualstarr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't tell my mother either. I mentioned it to her last year or so and she was like I don't think that's a good idea. I don't think you'll be happy with that. Now that I am actually going thru the process I have told 4 people. My best friend is coming to stay with me and that's all I need. I figure everyone knows I work out so there's no need to add any more information. ???? -
For those of you who don't know your date...

I'm waiting on approval now but I'm hoping it will be February. I wanted it to be this month but I'm fine with early February. -

Welcome! I am waiting on insurance approval at this point. I finished all of the required things i.e. Psych evaluation, colonoscopy, sleep apnea and nutrition monitoring for 3 months. It goes by fast and it's great you have friends to take the journey with. -
