i was banded in t.j. what i find is a kicker is finding local support...FROM ANYONE! at first i thought, it would be easy just comming on here, but just last month i realized i need to start attending support meetings. don't get me wrong, i love this site and its helped so much in my journey, but i would like to meet with local bandsters. have you shopped around in canada for aftercare? would you be willing to drive maybe a little further for a better price?

(j/k) look at you, you've done amazing! :thumbup: you were banded the same month i was and have lost waaaay more than me! but like you posted, keep doing you. its so hard, yet important not to compare yourself to others. it was difficult in the begining not to do so. but as time went on, i managed not to compare numbers. i can honestly say, i know i've done an excellent job so far.

it all depends on you and your body. all of our bodies are different...you will need to change your eating habbits and exercise as well (i'm sure you've already heard this from your doc!:thumbup: ) as far as the weighing goes, i HAVE to weigh myself at least once a week. that's just one of the things that helps keep me focused :thumbup:

hi jojo, im krysten, i live in norwalk, just down the freeway from you. congrats on your upcoming surgery on tuesday! that's so exciting!! i was banded 5/22 and have lost 55 1/2 lbs since then, a total of 65 1/2 from my heaviest. i've been looking for a local buddy too, but with not much luck... you can PM me if you'd like; let us know how your surgery went!!

lol, i think its bad for the wallet!! i LOVE shoping now. i have a bit to go but damn!!! i love the way my jeans are fitting and the way my body looks with a fitted shirt. the best part is no rolls pop out when i sit down :drool: im a 16 now, who knows what size i'll be when i reach goal. alls i know is, when i was weighing 190, i was a size 10!! a 10!!! i can't begin to imagine what size i'll be at 165!!! BTW- everyone's doing so good, keep up the great work! :tongue:

i DO crave fast food less since being banded. but when i do get the urge, i get a kid size meal and eat the burger without the bun, and if i'm craving the want fries (it isn't each time i go) i'll probably have anywhere from 3-6 fries; this cures me for a while. sometimes i substitute the fries for the "healthier choices." apple slices, apple sauce, side salad, etc.

okay, i'm going back on lowcarb. i tried switching up my diet, and i've been s-l-o-w-l-y loosing. i have a love hate/relationship with lowcarb...:tongue2:

i would LOVE to meet up sometime. im down the street from you, in norwalk...off of norwalk & imperial. weekends are best for me, let me know what works for you. thanks so much for willing to meet. since thanksgiving i haven't been able to jump back on track, and i don't know of any lap band support groups in our area...do you? LBT is helping out a lot, but i thinks its time to find a local friendly face that i can talk to about this whole journey.

hello ladies, i was hoping of any chances of a support meeting coming up anytime soon? LBT helps me out a lot, but i really need to go to a group meeting, face-to-face kinda thing, you know?

ok...i need to confess too. since the thanksgiving, i haven't been able to jump back on my exersice and "eating right" routine. i know i haven't tried hard enough, i've gotten lazy. i've managed to loose a handfull of pounds since november, but not averaging to my 1lb a week like before. TQUAD, thank you so much for your suggestions, thats exactly what i needed to read!!!!!!

hi ichbinseins, i just noticed your post :confused: you have no idea how nice it is to see someone around my age, LOCAL, and having this surgery done. if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat, hit me up: krystenc15@aol.com or myspace.com/latinkiki :sneaky: and here you go: How long does the process take from consult to surgery? i was self pay, wasnt about to pay out my @$$ here in the states, so i researched docs in Mexico, in 08/2007, saw a couple of them in 11/2007, and made my decision to go with my doc 01/2008 and scheduled my surgery. How do you feel now? i feel great, i really don't see the difference until i put on my still fav pair of size 22 jeans. i can't seem to get rid of them! im a 16 now. also, i take progress pics, and i can see it when i compare. when i look at myself in the mirror, i can't see it tho... What's been the hardest part? physically: taking the little bites and chewing,chewing,chewing, so you wont PB and feel like crap afterwards!!! emotionally: trying to convince my husband i won't leave once im done loosing weight. (that's another can of worms!) What do you wish someone had told you in the beginning? i don't know if its a bad thing so, i don't know how to make this sound negative. but all the attention you'll be getting from not only men, but everyone you know saying "oh my God you look great..." blah blah stuff and talking all super loud on how great you look, what/how are you doing it, and explaining to them how the lapband works and answering the same damn questions over & over, it really does get old! im about to make booklets and pass 'em out with lap band info! LOL How did your friends react? don't really have any around my age, except for one and im super close to her, she just moved to NC, so i hope she comes over this summer. we'll see how she reacts. the older crowd, is very happy for me, im not really to close to them anyway. so if something negative came out of their mouth i could care less!!! family-wise, they're all excited to see the end result. Did you tell only close friends/everybody/nobody? i the begining, i only told my immediate family. once surgery was all said & done, i had to spill the Beans when family nocticed i was loosing weight and looked smaller each time they saw me!

same here, i live in los angeles and while we're having some pretty sunny days, i get cold at home and in the early evening. i never used to be this way!

although i am open to *almost* anything in the bedroom, and really do believe in "whatever tickles your pickle. live & let live," i dont accept two things in the bedroom: threesomes, and booty love. its just not for me. for one, when i tried to try it, it was too painful, and gross feeling; and he wasnt even 1/4 in! so no thanks for me, ill pass.
