After 4 months out and 55 pounds gone, I finally stopped procrastinating and joined Barry's bootcamp in Sherman oaks. First off Let me say how much I loved everything about. The motivation, the attention from the instructor, the music. Barry's Kicked my ass pretty hard today. I must say I am proud of myself. Will continue for 4 times a week for a few months. Hoping for major results

I guess it's all about moderation. I have one small taco sized one every once in a while. Hits the spot

Has anyone tried the mission carb balance tortillas?? They are very good and have 6g net carbs. I eat it in moderation if course because I can't believe they're low carb lol. It's a quick fix for my cravings of wraps quesadillas or tacos and burritos. Let me know if any of you guys have had it. They are pretty pricy 8 of them for 5.99 but worth it.

Wow congratulations. I think it is different for everyone. Sometime you can't control it. I think it really depends on what you're comfortable with honestly. I am still new and for me it's been a little over 2 months. My highest weight was 254 surgery weight was 240 I'm down to 212. I feel it's moving a bit slow for me but I am ok with that. It should start picking up as soon as I start exercising which I plan to soon. I hike on the weekends but it's just not enough.

Well that's the problem I don't have a hard time with food. Maybe if I did get stuck it would have slowed me down... Am I normal ?!

My NUT says say bye bye to coffee for good. Caffeine irritates your stomach and could cause ulcers. Hello decaf! :/

Surprisingly according to my NUT people do really good with salads at about 4-6 weeks

So today is my daughters 9th birthday and I am 3weeks post op. I decided to take both my daughters out for lunch to the Grove in LA. We had lunch at cheesecake I are from th skinnylicous menu a small plate of tuna tartar very small portion but it was enough for me. Then we decided to walk around and go to the farmers market. As I am walking I feel as if I keep getting lightheaded more and more. Because I was in such a hurry when we left the house I forgot to grab my protien shakes. Anyway I googled Vitamin Shoppe and luckily there was one across the street from the farmers market. I got there but it felt like it took me forever. I asked the guy to help me out he grabbed the shakes for me said that my blood sugar is probably low that's why I am feeling like this. I quickly drank the shake I started feeling better. If I was a few mins late I would have passed out and freaked my kids out. Thank God there was the Vitamin shoppe close by!! Has anyone else experienced this ?

Just had an appointment with my dr today and she couldn't stress enough how important it is for us to get the Protein intake. I had been doing very bad in fact hardly taking any and she had a long talk with me. Now I am home sitting in my kitchen for the past 45 mins trying to finish a Premier Protein shake. I completely understand what you're going through as I am on the same boat. But I've decided to put in my big girl panties and make this happen I cannot end up in the hospital I have two small children that depend on me. WE CAN DO THIS!!

Yes I had surgery on dec 17 th and I was feeling the same exact way. It gets way better trust me. I would cry everyday for the first week. I am doing much better now i am on purees now. It gets better hang in there.
-
I'm on purees too ( I don't actually purée them I chew a million times and swallow knock on wood I've been doing pretty good) my dr said that if you're craving potatoes sweet potatoes or yams are a better choice.

Costalchick I am right there with you actually... I chew chew chew!! But for some strange reason soda is a crazy craving right now but no way I am not even gonna touch it! No sweets for me either. So far so good ...

I am 2 weeks out and on purees and soft foods and I don't have trouble eating some foods other patients day they have trouble with. I do not eat any sweets or carbs and I eat very small portions. So I guess everyone's different. If the scale is moving I wouldn't worry about it.
Dumping syndrome ?
in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums

Hey guys, so I am almost 5 months out and lost a total of 60 pounds (14pounds was from my preop diet) so what exactly is this dumping syndrome people experience with RNY? I think I had it a couple times where I felt very nauseous after I ate something my body didn't like but that was more In the beginning. I don't feel that anymore and I am careful of what I eat. And as far as sweets goes when I went to support groups I was told no sugar or you will dump. Now after surgery my taste buds have completely changed and I hate sweets now which is a major blessing but I do however have a small piece of 72% dark chocolate occasionally. I guess my question is, does thi dumping syndrome happen from then beginning or does it sneak up on you later on down the road?
