  1. I am like you slim. I lost some weight the few days after surgery, and since then nothing. I try not to focus too much on what others have lost, or I might get a little discouraged. I think since you and I have trouble with all the liquids and me not eating is why our weight loss is slower. I see some people eating 800 plus calories and I wonder how in the world could you consume that much?? I just don't have it in me right now. I am sure my body and metabolism are freaked out! Keep your spirits up I am here for you! Tamara
  2. I had surgery on wed and could not shower until saturday! I use ivory soap and just wash them lightly. Tamara
  3. Congratulations on your recent banding Simon! This is as good a place as any to share your news. Most all of us here were banded in September, so it is a good place to share and compare notes and ask questions. Good luck on you journey. Tamara
  4. I have to say I made it through all my appointments and surgery, and still my wonderful hubby does not know how much I weigh!! I am not ready for that yet, but will hopefully one day be free of such a secret. It's just must personal feeling. Tamara
  5. I was banded on 9/24 and today I feel the most normal I have felt since surgery. Most of the gas is starting to subside and I can sleep on my stomach and both sides. Ahhhh life is good! On the down side I am hungry once again. I think maybe all that gas makes you feel full, so I guess in a sick way the gas is our friend! I hope everyone continues to feel better, and yes it does get better. Good luck to all Tamara
  6. Yaaaay! Good job! I can't wait until I get to that point! Continued success! Tamara
  7. Good job on the great weight loss! I can't wait to feel the way you do. I am excited, but am still having the thoughts of "what did I do". I have to say if anyone ever says to me I took the easy way out I will slap em! Keep up the good work. Tamara
  8. If I had not received the happy meds before surgery last Wed, I would have jumped off the gurney and not looked back. It is very normal. Thing is even after surgery you may find yourself having some doubt issues. I am hoping as soon as my eating gets somewhat back to normalcy these emotions will diminish. Good luck you will be fine. Tamara
  9. Tonight was the most difficult time since surgery on the 24th!! My family, not their fault, got pizza! I have started to be super hungry. I do not believe that it is head hunger, because I have loud growls and since I am not one bit interested in the liquids I must be starving. I know this is not good. I hope to start a new food phase on Wed!! Hang in there guys! Tamara
  10. Well I can definitely understand some of the emotions you are going through! I had surgery last Wed and have lots of questions about the outcome of the band. I wonder too if I should have taken such a drastic step. I know though I was born over 10lbs and have ALWAYS struggled with weight and am very committed to this process. I just want to get on with my new life already. I think your feelings are well justified, and maybe it is somewhat you, but it sounds to me like your "support" system is letting you down. Sounds like a sabotage to me. A good cry always seems to make things better, so let it out and remember tomorrow is a new day. Tamara
  11. Good luck to everyone! I will be thinking about all of you and sending well wishes. Tamara
  12. Good luck to everyone, we will be thinking and praying for all of you! Here's to a speedy recovery! Tamara
  13. I got my z pack on the sunday before my surgery for a sinus infection. I had my fingers crossed until the day before surgery. I called the surgeons office and told them I was being treated for a sinus infection. They called me back saying no way would they do it. She said the increase of pneumonia is too high, even though a sinus infection is upper respiratory. I rescheduled for a week later and I am soo glad I did. Good luck Tamara Stay away from the steroids at this point. I too was thinking that since I work at an emergi center. I know steroids can increase bleeding during surgery. Just reschedule you will be thanking yourself later. I took that extra week to eat real food for 2 days!!!! (per my dr permission) I did some soul searching, got some things in order in my head. I hung out with my kids more since I was feeling better and it was pretty much a blessing for the delay. I was much more prepared waiting that extra week.
  14. Good job!! You make me feel ashamed that I am not doing more! I guess we all heal at a different rate. I was going to go for a walk but it has rained here all weeked. I am hoping for a nice day tomorrow. Tomorrow is my first day solo with my 2 year old. She gets bored quite easily. I hope that she is ready for a nap at some point in the day though. I bought a new scale yesterday ( not sure if that was a good thing, I have not owned a scale ever in my adult life) and according to my weigh in before surgery I have lost a total of 8 lbs. It does keep me motivated. I am glad to have all you guys here for support. Keep up the good work everyone! Tamara
  15. I take it day by day. I thought I might bounce back a little sooner, but it is mind over matter. I have to tell myself to relax and rest so I can heal. I have alot of troubles consuming all the liquids they want you to drink since surgery. It seems like a constant battle to drink. Other than that like most I have lost 10lbs in that 4 days, so that keeps you going. Good luck Tamara
  16. Hi! I live near you in New Tripoli, Pa! I just had my surgery on the 24th of September by Dr. Bono at Hazleton General. If you have any questions just ask. Good luck. Tamara
  17. My breath makes me cringe. I hope it goes back to normal soon!
  18. I started colace the day that I came home and acutally went to the bathroom the night before last. I think I had to take a total of 3 pills. It is not much to speak of, but it made me feel better. Good luck! Tamara What is everyone eating. I think I am scared of my band, and am not eating enough at all. I was just wondering how everyone else was doing. Thanks
  19. I had surgery on the 24th last wed. I like usual always get nauseated after surgery. I had every med know to mad and I still felt sick. I started to dry heave once and then talked myself out of anymore. I was given a standing order for Zofran, which seemed to help. No more nauseau to say since last night. I awoke with alot of gas and had to go to the bathroom. I was relived I did that soo soon. After going I felt like I was going to throw up. I dry heaved very lightly 2 times and only burped like crazy. I then felt soo much better. Today I decided with my hubby to run out for like an hour. He ran into the store and I was having gas pain that I could not burp out (just like the night before) and I felt it coming and I opened up the car door and did the dry haeve thing 2 times only to belch like crazy again. Both times I had eaten chicken broth within an hour. I am wondering what the problem may be. Maybe I am eating too much, or the soup does not agree with me. I have no problems with pudding. jello, or CIB. Thanks for any advice Tamara
  20. It's funny but yours and my stories are quite similiar. I don't know to what extent you cheated on your diet, but I as well as others did too. Move past it and don't let the guilt get to you. You are only human. I had a piece of pizza two days before surgery. It was like I panicked. I was on a trip to Walmart too, and it seemed every obese person caught my eye. I would look at all the crap they were buying and it would help me know that I was making the right decision. I still have doubts, just having surgery on Wed. On the day of surgery everything seemed surreal. After surgery, I was like why did I do this to myself. I was also mad that I had to do the surgery and had let myself get this heavy. You will continue to have tons of emotion. They are all normal. I am sure they will fade! Good luck! Tamara
  21. I guess anything is possible, but I must say I had surgery on Wed and by no way would I be ready to back to work that soon. I am still very sore and I am super tired. Tamara
  22. After being almost sure I was dying on Wednesday, I have turned a corner with the pain and am feeling quite less sore today. I must say I anticpated surgery to have some pain, but I am not so sure I was prepared for the amount that I had. I had, even with all the anti naseau drugs and patches, severe nausea after surgery and was dry heaving. Not good! I did take advantage of the morphine every hour. I am not too proud to say it. I also was given anti nausea meds every four hours. I was released around 3 pm yesterday, and am soo happy I was there overnight. I needed to be there and I needed the pain meds. I have not had really any problems with gas pain. It seems to be coming out on its own. LOL. Now the real problem is how do you get all that fluid in. I am positive I will lose about 20 pounds just this week, YAY. Does anyone know how long these staples stay in??? I wanted to again thank all of you for all the information I had going into this surgery. I know for a fact I was more knowledgeable than half of the nurses about this procedure. She actually brought me my first drink with a straw in it. I was like NO, NO! I would personally like to thank Deb who just had surgery too, who reminded me that I did not want an incision anywhere close to my bra line. Keeping in mind the problems she had I while laying on the operating table spoke my last words "I have large breasts and I NEED to wear a bra, please do not cut near my bra line". He in response said we have no need to do that. And then I was in recovery. I did double check as soon as I could where the incisons were, and to my relief he did not cut near my bra line, and I am wearing and have been wearing one ever since. I could go on and on about my expereinces, but for now I must get more sleep. I could not have done this without you guys. Thanks Tamara. I hope everyone is feeling well.
  23. Thanks guys! Here I sit not believing that after almost 11 months it is happening in less than 12 hours. I have to be at the hospital at 7:45 am. I will be staying overnight and will hopefully check in on Thursday! Tamara
