Dry Heaving 4 days post op!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on the 24th last wed. I like usual always get nauseated after surgery. I had every med know to mad and I still felt sick. I started to dry heave once and then talked myself out of anymore. I was given a standing order for Zofran, which seemed to help. No more nauseau to say since last night. I awoke with alot of gas and had to go to the bathroom. I was relived I did that soo soon. After going I felt like I was going to throw up. I dry heaved very lightly 2 times and only burped like crazy. I then felt soo much better. Today I decided with my hubby to run out for like an hour. He ran into the store and I was having gas pain that I could not burp out (just like the night before) and I felt it coming and I opened up the car door and did the dry haeve thing 2 times only to belch like crazy again. Both times I had eaten chicken broth within an hour. I am wondering what the problem may be. Maybe I am eating too much, or the Soup does not agree with me. I have no problems with pudding. Jello, or CIB. Thanks for any advice Tamara

I had some trouble with neasua and dry heaving that first week. After about a week of doing that they changed my meds from Zofran to compazine. That seemed to help. You may want to call your doctor. You dont want that band to slip. Good luck

I was given a patch behind my ear plus something in IV because I have a history of nausea after surgery. I have had 2 surgeries with this and I will always ask for the patch now.

I had phenergen suppositories that helped me. But thinking back, I think the chicken broth didn't do to well with me either. Don't drink cold Water right now. That made things worse. After about a week you can try cold water again. Try vegetable broth and see how that does.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
