First Pre Op Appointment, Dr blew me off
For some people throwing up is pretty common on a daily basis. Do you know if it is being caused by something specific at this point? Like a particular food or maybe the type of Protein drinks you are consuming? For me, in the first month I discovered that I was suddenly lactose intolerant. I was having a hard time with heaviness in my tummy and I would begin gagging until I threw up. I also had a very hard time with the protein powders and had to move to a premade shake. I switched to Premier Protein but even then had to use 50 percent Protein Shake and 50 percent lactaid milk. After about 6 weeks I was able to drink a protein shake without milking it down. Also, I was told that if I threw up, I would wait an hour and try something else. That way I was not completely missing my protein. Not sure if any of this helps or not.

Turkey!
Instead of pita have you tried "flat outs"? They are whole grain and they have a light version as well. My nutritionist told me about them. I usually use a half of one.

Has weight loss/surgery turned me crazy?
Absolutely I was very cranky for the first 6 weeks or so. My husband actually would say something and I would bite his head off. We laugh about it now because I am the complete opposite. I think it is all the changes plus for me it started during the pre op diet. It went away when I started consistently meeting my protein and water goals. And yes, I do eat plenty of good fats in my diet. I stay far away from any sweets whatsoever. I had such a huge problem with sweets prior to surgery and I am afraid if I let them back in, I will be in trouble again.

Board running slow today
This lag was also happening to me yesterday. It's good to know I am not the only one. It is however frustrating.

STILL STALLED. help :(
By the way, don't be afraid of not losing more. You just need to make sure you are getting your protein, water and are exercising. Even though the scale may say one thing you are likely losing inches. The stall will break if you are following the plan.

STILL STALLED. help :(
Stalls are the worst aren't they! I have had one big stall that lasted almost a month. For me I learned that I was not eating enough and exercising too much. As soon as I made changes I saw the pounds star dropping off. Now, I think I may have another stall happening, I sure hope not. I have been stuck for just under a week now. I am trying to break the stall by trying a different form of exercise later in the day. I have learned from research that if your body gets use to the same routine it can stall as well. They are very frustrating.

Post op diet - what was yours?
This is pretty normal. You have to remember your stomach inside has a lot of sutures. You can easily damage your new tummy by not following the food plan. It needs time to heal. I personally would refrain from trying anything besides clear liquids until you are allowed to. You should also be able to have chicken broth, watered down apple juice. These items will give you a bit more energy. For me it was homemade chicken broth that really helped me that first week. Good luck and take care of yourself.

My Partner says "you took the easy way"
You do not need someone as abusive as that guy in your life. Run and never look back! I used to have someone in my life that was toxic to both me and our children. It took me 6 years but I finally figured out how to get away from him. I remarried almost 28 years ago and I thank god everyday for my supportive spouse. Even my kids have nothing to do with him, they call him the sperm donor!

Trying to decide...
I too was planning on the sleeve until I met with the bariatrician the first time. I suffered from uncontrollable reflux to the point I was coughing all day every day for over a year and a half. In addition I had type 2 diabetes. After doing more research and talking to my gastroenterologist I felt so much better about doing the RNY. I had it done in Sept., immediately my diabetes went into remission and I never get heartburn or reflux and I am off all medications related to reflux sine I hit the 30 days post op. I could not be happier with my decision. I am one of the folks who so far have not gotten sick however I now do not like sweets of any kind. I was a sugarholic before surgery. I hate anything that tastes sweet from sugar or even artificial sweeteners. Good luck on your decision.

Feeding my family?
honestly I refrained from cooking for that first month post op. Knowing I was going to be on liquids and mushy foods I did not want to be tempted. I made sure I had meals prepared and frozen before I actually started the pre op liquid diet. I knew it would be difficult once that started. Thank goodness my family was super supportive. In fact my husband would refrain from eating in front of me which I had to tell him many many times how ridiculous that was. He finally understood that it did not bother me at all. Post surgery I had no appetite for the first 8 weeks.

What do you look forward to when you lose all the weight?
So many good ones have already been said. For me, I plan to have plastics done. I cannot wait until I have lost enough weight and stabilize so that I can get that done. Then, I will look forward to shopping for clothes in normal stores including bathing suits.

Getting closer and having doubts
Had I had the chance to do it in 30 days I absolutely would have done it. I remember being so frustrated that it took so long to get through the process, for me it was 9 months long. I had done a ton of research before even meeting a surgeon the first time so I was ready. I would say there was a positive about taking so long, I was able to make changes to my lifestyle ahead of time and by the time I got to the morning of surgery I was so excited. For me there was no question about moving forward but I was miserable at 310lbs. I wish I would have done this years ago vs. waiting until my health declined. The good news is my health is so much better now. Good luck to you! Don't be afraid, just make sure you follow the plan.

Time Outs, Multiple Posts
That picture scrambling thing is funny. Sometimes I am a guy! It's too funny. Incidentally I too am working on an iPad.

2 bands, now a revision to RNY or VSG
The big thing for you to talk to your doctor about is the reflux issue. The sleeve can make that situation worse. Bypass resolves it. Also both surgeries require Vitamin supplements. I personally planned to get the sleeve initially until the reflux issue came up and that is why I chose RNY. I have not regretted it for one second. Good luck on your decision and your revision if u choose to continue down that road.

My big Victory
@@Tweety208 so sorry to hear about your struggles. I hope you get well soon. Do you mind if I ask what caused your complications?

Veterans-I have a question for your wonderful peeps!
I was planning to have the sleeve and then was told the better surgery for me was absolutely the bypass. For me, it was because I suffered from uncontrollable reflux/Gerd. The sleeve can make that condition much worse. Once I understood the whys behind it I made the decision to go with RNY. I am sooooo glad I did. I never get heartburn or reflux and am off all medications.

Poll: insurance acceptance/denial
I was 310lbs, a type 2 diabetic, sleep apnea, high blood pressure I had to follow a six month physician monitored program. I had to work with a Bariatric Center of Exellence. My paperwork was submitted and within 48 hours I had both verbal and written approval. My insurance was Medica.

Time Outs, Multiple Posts
Not sure if this is the same problem but right in the middle of a post I keep getting a message that says "a problem occurred" It is very frustrating when this happens because when it comes back, everything you typed is gone and you have to start all over. I am guessing this is the same problem?

Does anyone end up in a bikini? Please be honest!
@@MiaStacey, that is a fantastic idea. I am headed to Hawaii on a cruise 2 weeks from today. I have to go shopping anyway, so I think I will do just that! I actually think I can fit in their sizes now so we will see what happens.

Three week stall one week after surgery?
@@Ivanova8, I would not worry about it. Every surgeon seems to have a differnt plan. As long as you follow it, you should have no problem. I was just surprised because it was a while before I could fit that much in my tummy. now of course I can easily get in 1/2 cup but not much more. It also depends on what I am eating.

Three week stall one week after surgery?
I am surprised that you can get 1/2 cup in. I am guessing that your body is simply waiting to see what is going to happen before it continues to release body fat. I would not worry as long as you are following the plan. Make sure you get your water, I have found it is critical to weight loss.
