  1. I got a 2nd job to help pay for my skin surgery in addition to my business. Now that I am sitting in an office all day and not working from home. I understand how some of you struggle with food post-op.

I did the same thing. I took on a consulting job just so I could pay for my surgeries. Thankfully still working from home so not dealing too badly with the food issue.

  2. Wednesday the 28th started out like any other day. Went to work got off at 5, went to go clean a hunting camp (because im financially challenged and needed the money). Did my thing and cleaned till 10:30pm. This camp is no "ordinary" hunting camp... it has 8 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. the only way to get to it is via boat... so i take a 10 min ride there and back. I also do the laundry at my home, so i was carrying one of the tots to the boat to go home. Walked to the dock, placed the tote on the dock, placed foot on the boat to get in.... Foot slips from under me and i end up taking a swim along with my phone... I managed to swim back to the dock and pulled myself out of the bayou. I kept seeing Betty White and her damn alligators in my mind. Thank God i still don't weight 230#, i would have never been able to do that. But i did and managed to bruise every limb of my body (and ego) and pulled a muscle in my right boob...(duct tape dub). It's been over a week and im just starting to feel better. NOTE TO SELF: never go to the dock alone again

  3. Good morning from Hanoi, Vietnam. As I was entering Vietnam last night, I had to go through an interrogation because I have lost so much weight, they didn't think that my passport picture was me. Annoying and flattering all at the same time!

You know, I have had that problem as well with my passport and my TSA card. I usually then have to show my drivers license which still has me 50lbs heavier but at least they see the progression. I say, its a very good problem to have but can be costly on time.

  4. I am getting there slower but surely!!

  5. Gonna put this little PSA here for your benefit.....while it can provide near immediate support and restoration of function.....duct tape should not ever...ever, be used as a bandage/wrap for a sore titty. Removing that stuff was like a redneck waxing. Long story....but ouch. Damn.

Ok, it wasn't as bad as i was picturing.

Isn't it weird how taping up an area really helps with pain control? I have had them tape up my shoulder and my back via PT and it really does offer some support. Now I have learned that using compression garments will do the same thing.

  6. I HAD MY SURGERY 12/27/2016

  7. I can't quit researching trying to find better healthier recipes and new things to try. I have quit smoking for the surgery. I feel really good.

  8. Man, oh man... I've lost about 5 lbs in the last 5 weeks. I'm only 7 out from surgery. I'm considering it a stall... and I'm super frustrated!

    1. Djmohr

      Djmohr

I have my own definition of a stall. It is more than 2 weeks without any loss whatsoever. but that is just me

  9. It confuses me when people use the word "we" in their posts. Who are they including in their thoughts? "We are all" is even more maddening. Don't we think?

  10. New definition of troll: Encouraging someone to stick to their post op liquid diet instead of gnawing on hard bread. Go figure that.

I have a bingo troll! Yes......I like to play bingo so what of it! LOL. By the way, my bingo troll has rainbow colored hair and no pants. I don't let her troll Bariatric Pal though....

  12. My dietician told me to double my carbs...makes me anxious so close to onederland as I'll probably stall, but gonna have to take one for the team...

    1. Djmohr

      Djmohr

I would be nervous as well especially given you are still in the losing phase. I stall and gain from too many carbs and once I give in and eat too many....I cannot seem to get back to life without them. Ugh.....

  16. Fun fact. I've just been informed that 75% of people on this site don't like me. Here's to my 25% peeps!

  17. 15 days until my Plastics....getting a little nervous but really excited too! Cannot wait until I no longer have to stuff myself into spanks and a bra. LOL

      @heidikat72

You are right RNY was a walk in the park compared to my first plastics experience. I can remember my husband telling me not to do the next phase because of the searing pain that came with my arms. Even in the throes of that pain, it was absolutely positively worth it! The pain from plastics is simply different, it is more on top.... not deep inside your body like WLS. I have had my spine fused with rods and screws and that pain is deep in your body and it hurts like hell too but it is a different kind of pain. The incisions from plastics are just long and it burns and itches.....again, still absolutely worth it because the difference is there immediately!

I am expecting the worse and hoping to be pleasantly surprised :)

Thank You both! I hope it goes well too and hoping for minimal burning and itching. I know there will be pain and I can handle that.

  19. I found my adult Boy Scout uniforms and I have to say that they fit better now than they did the last time I wore them.

I knew you were a boy scout....Haha! That is actually fantastic! I wonder if I still have my cheerleading uniform from high school in storage. It would be fun to try it on.

  20. I gained 12 pounds!!!!

    1. Djmohr

      Djmohr

Bummer! I gained 7lbs from Thanksgiving until now. I think I am going to try a reset simply because I cannot seem to get started back on track. I think all those crappy carbs are creating havoc in my brain. A reset will help get all the toxins out and return me to my less hungry self. We shall see..... I have some travel today but back home tonight so I think I will start that reset tomorrow.

  21. Sometimes it's hard to not get down on myself for not losing enough weight this week, not meeting my mini-goal by the end of the year, not liking what I see in the mirror, etc... but I just have to keep reminding myself that I've lost over 130 pounds... and that's a significant achievement!

    1. Djmohr

      Djmohr

I say congratulations to you! 130 is (as you said) a significant amount of weight to have lost in 15 months. I lost a total of 152 and it took me 18 months to get there. Those last 20lbs are awful to lose, you have to work ten times as hard to make it happen. Once you get to maintenance it is even harder. Enjoy your achievement and keep working hard! A word of advice probably way too late for you both.....assigning a time to weight loss simply doesnt work. You just have to work the plan and when you get there you get there.

  22. So after a whirlwind trip to visit two families in another state for Xmas, we finally got home today. Whenever we leave Arizona, our first meal back is always Mexican (since all the other states around have trash Mexican food). After dinner I got a wild hair and we stopped by DXL. Now I was always on the very low end for pants there (I have no assatall), so I didn't even bother to look at pants... I'm pretty sure I have to shop in regular stores for those now. What I did NOT expect was going from a 3XT to a plain jane 1X! Major NSV for me... I can now shop in "regular" stores - at exactly one month post op!!

    1. Djmohr

      Djmohr

Isn't that the best feeling every! No more specialty stores for you! Congratulations!

  23. Tomorrow is my surgery day!! I really wish I could run out to Chipolte, Five Guys, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Panera and Dairy Queen and just go crazy!!!!!! Oh... wait... I am really enjoying all this chicken broth. Lol!

    1. Djmohr

      Djmohr

I am long past the broth stage only but if i ever do a reset, I intend to have some good stuff on hand. And I still eat chicken veggie soup.
