  1. I was 6 months out before I tried coffee again but then I had a very rough start post op. I always use fat free vs sugar free in my coffee but that is what I was drinking before surgery. I eat/ drink everything else sugar free because sweetness has intensified 100x's post op which really doesn't leave too much that is not carbonated but that is ok because Water works for me. Good luck. Just try a little at a time and see how your pouch tolerates it.

  2. I too have this problem along with excessive dry heaving at times. Ughhh... I can hardly eat anything and hate to try new try new things because of these two issues. I am 4 months out and eat very little at all. I have an appt with my Dr. in a couple weeks so hopefully they will recommend something. Good luck to you. I hope this improves for you.

  3. One other thing I recently learned is your Dr can provide you with a card that confirms your surgery and you present it to the waiter and they will often really adjust your size meal and price. Wls is so common now that a lot of restaurants want to cater to us. Some restaurants won't let you order from the kids menu unless you are a kid but with this card they may now. We have a lot of friends that like to go to buffets and I told the cashier I had wls and she charged me the kids rate. That was really nice since all I ate was a very small amount of mashed taters and small amount of cottage cheese. That way we felt like we could still go with our friends and save $$ too.

    Good luck!

  4. I too have a med pill container for morning, noon, mid-day, and evening. I have to take lots of pills as I am sure a lot of the gastric bypass ptients do as well. On Sundays I fill it for the week. I work from homwe so leave it at my desk and take them throughout the day. I have room for improvement inactually taking them that is for sure but I am getting there. I need to do a food app too so I can show my Dr. what I am eating.

    Good luck to ya!

  5. I had the gastric bypass so my surgeon had me on soft foods about the time your hubby is at. Mine told me 4-6oz meals but right now 4 months out I have to remind myself to eat because I don't get that hungry feeling I got pre-op. Frustrating but I am working through it.

Good luck to you both as it is definately a change for a couple when one or both have wls. He is a very lucky man to have you. I know I am too with my hubby.

  6. What I do is split a meal with someone if you feel comfortable to put that option out to your co-workers. You never know someon else might be watching their weight too and would appreciate it. I too eat Soup a lot when we go out. Pre-op I had no issues taking home leftovers, now post-op the thought of eating leftovers makes me nauseated for some reason. So my hubby gets to enjoy them. I too try to eat from the apps menu but sometimes things on their are all fried so it just depends. When we go out we try to go before the dinner menu switch over because the portions tend to be smaller and the prices are cheaper often times too.

    Good luck!

  7. My husband has been doing the "you can't eat that" and I am 4 months out. Granted I have only been eating solid foods for a few weeks now and still introducing new foods to see how my new pouch handles it. While it annoys me and I have to remind him to please stop monitoring my food I am glad he is involved and concerned for my health so I can't be too mad at him.

I would keep your reaponse positive but short and don't give them the option to rebuttal.

    Good luck!

  8. I kinda echo what others say. I am 4 months out. In the beginning I didn't tell my family only my hubby of course and my BFF's because one had the sleeve a year prior and provided me with wonderful support. After several months I had come to the realization that I need to own my decision and anyone who didn't support me I didn't need to be around. For the first time I was putting myself first. Once this happened I told many people and was pleasantly surprised at how supportive they were. Shockingly so.

You don't mention what type of surgery you are having so I am using my knowledge of my medial gastric bypass as advice.

Right after surgery you will be on Clear liquids....sugarfree popsicicles, SF Jello, clear broth (low sodium). DO NOT eat creamed corn!!!!!!!!! My Dr. Advised corn is a never ever again food because you can not digest it. Please please do not try it esp. 2 weeks post-op you can tear something and cause damage. Secondly milk is a never ever again as well unless it is soy so cream corn is out!

I would have a conversation with your son and explain what you are doing and that while you would love for him and his gf to come visit that you won't be doing "your" traditional turkey day and that you might be going to a friends house. Do not push your self. Rely on your grown kids to help you.

    Best of luck to you!!!!

  9. As my tag line says I am 4 months post-op and I am dry heaving quite often after eating and some times even if I haven't eaten. The only things I am able to eat are fruits and veggies. Typical day I eat one orange and a cup of mushrooms/carrots and on occasion I can eat shrimp. All other Protein makes me nauseaus. Anyone else having these issues?

So tired of having no energy and unable to eat anything. When will this get better? I am sooooooo regretting the surgery. At this point I wish I never had it. I want this feeling to change but right now I am mentally stuck.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
