  3. Hello, I should be having my surgery within the next month! Yeah! My boyfriend and I have been talking about vacations and we would love to take the kids to Busch Gardens and Williamsburg this summer. We both LOVE Roller Coasters. My question is...how soon after surgery did any of you hit the Coasters? How did your new baby tummy respond? Did that crazy feeling you get in your gut change in any way? I don't want to make any reservations until I'm sure it won't be a horrible experience! Thanks, Cindy

    Surgery May 26th! So nervous!

My surgery is the 26th as well. It is starting to feel very real now. I just want it over with. The pre-op diet is kicking my butt.... though I have not cheated once. I want there to be NO reason for the doctor to not be able to go through with it. I just found out I got a new job I had interviewed for and I will be starting it 2 weeks after surgery. It feels risky, but I am counting on it to distract me from the fact that I will STILL be on liquids. Distraction has been my friend while on the pre-op diet and it will be my friend for some time to come! Good luck to all of us!
  6. My surgery is scheduled May 26th. I've told quite a few people at work about the surgery. Some have been great and some not so great. Since the surgery date has been getting closer I have been thinking a lot about how "open" I want to be going through this process. I just know I will FREQUENTLY get the " How much have you lost so far?" question. Do you tell, or what do you answer to the question? If I hit a stall I don't want to hear the negativity.....should I just say something like "I will divulge the final number when I hit my goal"? Or should I just toughen up and give the weekly updates to everyone who asks?
  7. I think if coworkers start asking CONSTANTLY how much I've lost I may just tell them "I'm not sure...I'm only going to weigh myself once a month, but I feel fabulous!" Of course knowing me I will weigh myself every day! Lol
  8. As I get older I definitely care less and less what people think of me....good point though about keeping me accountable....hadn't thought of that angle...
  9. Yeah! I finally got my surgery date! I am excited and nervous at the same time! I will have to do a 2 week Optifast diet prior to surgery starting on May 12th. Did anyone have to do this specific plan? Is it gross? Will I be starved for the whole 2 weeks? How much weight did you lose on it? Thanks!
  10. Dolphin_girl ...I PMd you with my number. I downloaded whatsapp
  11. I'm thinking a little fear is good. It will keep you honest! I discovered today a co worker had the surgery 2 yes ago and I never would have guessed cause she sucks down sodas all day long and eats McDonalds for lunch every day and admitted she's put back on 30 after losing 100....I don't want to make her mistakes!!!
  12. Yeah! A surgery buddy! We will definitely have to stay in touch!

"You'd be much prettier if you lost weight"

I used to have a very large, very morbidly obese great Aunt that used to say things like this. It was so hard to bite my tongue around her. She apparently used to say things like this to my mom when she was a kid as well. My mother used to tell me not to pay her any attention because her comments are coming from her own low self esteem and insecurities. If a peer said this to me though I would definitely let them have it!!!
  14. That is what I am most looking forward to too! Last time I was on a roller coaster the poor attendant had to put all his weight down on the bar to get it to lock in place. It was a miserable 60 second ride as I was squished in that seat!!
  15. Question for you veterans: I have read that alot of folks have trouble getting in the recommended fluids after surgery. Is this because it hurts to drink? Or that the stomach doesn't hold much Fluid? Or is it just that you forget? Or that you have to take such tiny sips it takes forever? I ask because I drink ALOT during the day at work and I just want to understand what I may be up against! Thanks, Cindy
  16. Fortunately at my work we have a kitchen and a regular refrigerator so I can bring in ice and really anything! The one thing we don't have in the kitchen is a blender so I think I may "gift" one for my anticipated upcoming use! LOL!!
  17. Fabulous idea Steve! I will have to do that!
  18. Thank you for the responses. I like very cold beverages now, so it will be interesting to see if that changes after surgery. I guess for everyone it is a "wait and see" kind of thing. Everyone responds differently it seems! I anticipate I will be having my surgery in Mid May so all sorts of things are running through my brain as I get closer!
  19. Hi there, I am going for my EGD procedure on Friday and I have some questions. How long does the procedure usually take? I have never been put under for anything before so how long does it take to feel awake and normal after the procedure? The nurse mentioned I shouldn't be alone for 24 hours afterwards....will I really be out of it all day long?

    EGD questions

Yes, thanks. I hope the anesthesia will wear off quickly so I can do some things around the house and won't sleep the whole day away!!
  21. Ummmm....what scars Kindle? I don't see anything! AND THAT ROCKS!!! I was hoping they fade to barely nothingness! I hope I will be as lucky as you!
  22. Could be a virus going around and not related to food at all....
  23. I have my first appointment with a nutrionist tomorrow. I am going to have to do a 6 month program. They said the first appointment is 1.5 hrs long...so I am hoping it will be more than just being told to eat slower. I really hope I am given a detailed plan to follow....if left to my own devices it may not go so well! Ha! I hope to really lose 30-40 pounds before even going under the knife. I want to kick start my transformation! Good luck to everyone! I hope this 6 months goes quickly!
  24. I have been seeing all the cool halloween costumes on facebook...so what would you dress as if you were at your goal weight? Mine would be wonder woman.
