  1. I had a very physical job when I had my sleeve...I am a (don't laugh) Pastry Chef. I went back to work after one week after surgery, felt great! I agree, just no heavy lifting. I had my helpers help me with bags of flour and sugar (50 lb bags) and lifting the 60 quart bowls, but I was able to stay on my feet with no problem and didn't have any pain. Just watch your limitations and ask your boss if you can have modified days, where you work shorter hours or the same hours with longer breaks so you can rest. You will feel really tired at the end of the day so make sure you get plenty of Water and rest.
  2. My nut told me to not drink a lot of shakes. He called them artificial Protein and once you are starting to eat solid food, to just have one once in a while but not everyday. How are you getting your protein in? Is it only shakes? Are you vegetarian, is that why you don't eat meat? Will you eat eggs? I always have hard boiled eggs in the fridge and have one for Breakfast, sometimes with a piece of bacon, and I am also a big cottage cheese eater and usually have it for lunch, with pears or berries. For dinner, I usually have some sort of meat or fish and a small salad or a side veggie. For Snacks, I eat almonds, pieces of cheese, prunes (yes, prunes, I LOVE them and they are like candy to me) and I treat myself to a small piece of dark chocolate (one of the little squares) from Trader Joes once in a while. Do you keep a food diary? You maybe eating too many carbs or sugars in your shakes. You also may not be eating ENOUGH. Did your nut go over your diary with you, and give you some changes or suggestions? That is what their job is! When you do your treadmill, are you getting up a sweat? You maybe need to pump it up a little. I also think you are doing well, I don't think loosing 36 pounds in 2 or so months is bad at all! What did he expect you to loose? Dont be discourage, we all loose at different paces.

    Protein shakes after sleeve

they sell premier Protein at my doctors bariatric store, so my doctor approves...and he is kind of anti shake once you are eating solid foods and tolerating them well. He said they aren't good Proteins, he prefer natural proteins from fish and meats and such.
  4. When is your next appointment? You may want to give your doctor a call or your encro..Are you able to do any walking to get circulation going?
  5. First off congrats!!! I also was diabetic presurgery and BAD I was on insullin and pills and my A1C was 13...I had to get it down to 8 to even have the surgery. A year later it is normal...for the first time in 20 years! My doctor told me no drugs unless it hits 150. Your body is just adjusting...103 is NORMAL! It will level out..just keep taking your sugars and keep a good log. When you see your NUT when you are ready to start eating food again, he can give you some good advice. Remember, this is just a TOOL. You still have to watch your diet. There is no cure for diabetes. This just kind of puts in remission. Good luck! Dont be discouraged!

    Glorious Food!

I cant eat strawberries and kiwi my favorite fruits. The acid just upsets my stomach so much! Same thing with oranges, but I wasn't a huge orange eater before. I even tried strawberries in shakes and they still hurt. I also miss tomatoes. I cant eat those either. But I can eat everything else...including oysters which I LOVE!

You know you lost weight when

This weekend we decorated our Christmas tree. For the first time ever I was able to climb up on the stool without any help or going off balance to reach up high on the tree. And I helped decorate outside, climbing a 22 foot ladder!! I am so proud of myself!

    ARRGGHH these last 9 pounds!

I have the same problem, except its 20 lbs and its been TWO MONTHS. My doctor told me I already reached and went beyond the goals of the surgery with loosing 65-75% of my extra weight, and sometimes the body (especially my age of a young 56) just doesn't want to loose more. I have never been this thin in my adult life and I know I should be happy with it, but I want to loose that 20. I have also tried everything with the food and trying to find some sort of exercise besides the walking that will get things going again. But it maybe hopeless, sometimes our bodies don't want to give in! Good luck!!!! Let me know if you find something! :-)
  13. Oh god the misery I went through last week. I have terrible polyp and have to have a colonscopy every 2 years. They are no big deal to me but I just had my first one since skeeve. I could barely drink the prep. 16 ounce then an hour later another 16 ounces. Then that evening another 16 ounces and 3 hours later another 16 ounces. I wa a throwing up very violently because the stuff had some sort of carbonation. I was surprised I got enough in me to do the job and they found 5 large polyp. I now have to go back in 6 months. I cant do that again it took me three days to get my stomach to take food again and I couldn't work. Sorry this was so graphic. Anyone have suggestions on what to do next time? My dr knows I have the sleeve...

When will the hair loss stop?!?!

That is interesting, since Biotin is one of the things my doctor recommended I take! I guess it depends on the doctor. My Vitamin levels are terrific...first time in my life I haven't been low on Vitamin D. But again, do what your doctor says.

When will the hair loss stop?!?!

I found the hair loss stopped when I stopped loosing super fast...I slowed down to 1 lb a week or so (15 lbs to go) and the hair stopped falling out. I take 1000 of Biotin every day and I use biotin shampoo. I eat a lot of almonds which I hear helps too. The hair is now growing back, as I have little short hairs on the top of my head. It looks awful now and I wear a lot of hats, but the new hair is soft and healthy, so I think with time... Just consider it part of the Journey!
  16. Sure! Sleeved 12-27-14 HW 245 CW 153 Have a great day!! and keep up the good work!

Weight loss stalled after 6 months

Congrats on the weight loss...and yes, stalls are common. I have had three in the last 9 months. I also just have another 10 pounds to go and the doctor said they will be the hardest...just keep doing what you are doing. Throw in more walking, if you can, it helps a lot and make sure you are drinking lots of Water. It will start going again. the good news is you are probably loosing inches now!

    Fruit problems?

I eat peeled apples blueberries cooked strawberries and canned pears. I also cant eat oranges or grapefruit bananas or kiwi. Melon is too filling and makes me feel sick. But I need the fiber and the sweetness feels like a treat to me!

    colobscopy prep with sleeve

Thanks good luck...I would love to hear how your prep goes so I can talk with her a little better educated.
  20. I don't kick box but I lift 50 to 70 lbs all day long and never had any issues. I of course had to allow it to heal and I would give it a few months. Maybe start with walking etc. Njoy!
  21. I am also a slow looser and always have been. You have to remember someone who needs to lose 150 lbs is going to loose faster then someone who needs to lose 50 I have NASH which makes me loose very slowly but at least I am loosing and if it takes me 10 years at least I will be healthy. This isnt a quick fix and I hope you aren't thinking that It is a lifetime commitment. So just keep doing what you are doing...it will come off!

    Cheated postop...concerned

Sometimes your body needs to adjust before you start loosing again. I know I would not loose weight.on 100 calories as my body would go into starvation mode. I do better on 500 c a day with mainly being.in protein form..no empty calories like jello and no potatoes. Try greek yogurt plain and if you can cottage cheese low fat. Have ypu tried the protein drinks that arent shakes like protein waters
