    vitamin D

My Vit D is low as well. Mine was 21 when normal is 40. I am on prescription Vit D (10,000 units/week). This has helped my mood, weighloss and general well being. I spoke at length about this with MD and he said that when I start to see some of these symptoms come on, to add some Vit D to my diet to see if that helps before coming in. I had a huge plateau for about 2 months and when I went on the Vit D, I finally broke it.

    Saggy McSaggerson :)

Hi - Congratulations on what you have lost so far! Everyone is different so don't worry about how much you have lost just that you have. I have a similar situation to Brad. I have lost about 60 lbs since surgery and due to exercise I am not sagging as much as I thought I would. Trust me, there is some sagging (I am not 20!) My abdominal muscles have a very long way to go as well, but I think I may be lucky enough that I won't need surgery there. I hope you can resolve the issues you are having. My grandmother had that for years and it was very tough to get rid of.
  3. Has anyone had any experience with any MDs in Rochester NY? I am scheduled for their information session with Dr. O'Malley and Dr. Moss. Any experience or suggestions? I am really hoping that insurance covers the lapband. I cannot afford it out of pocket. I am at the 40 BMI but I don't have any other issues, yet. I do have back, hip and joint pain but nothing that is arthritis. My BP and cholesterol levels are fine. I have no diabetes issues either. Any suggestions? Thanks! gilta

    pain in chest

Wow - how horrible! I hope you are feeling better now. Your story is why I am so hesitent to have another fill. I would rather be a bit more open than have any issues. Let us know how you are doing.

    Post your NSVs

This is a great idea! * I can now shop in any store to find clothes! Was a 22w, now a 10/12. * I used to weigh almost the same as my husband, now I am almost 80lbs less than him! * I can exercise for longer than 10 minutes. * I don't mind having my picture taken.
  6. Hi All It really has been quite a while since I have checked in. I hope everyone is doing well. It looks like a few new people have joined since I have last been here. I continue to lose at a very slow rate now, about 1 lb a month, but at least it is heading in the right direction! I have pushed off my fills a few times as I still have restriction. As of last week, I am down 70lbs since starting this journey about a year ago and 59 lbs since surgery! I love my band!
  7. Hi All, I have been sick with a sinus infection. I have not eaten very much so I am down. Hopefully it will be lower when I can start eating again. Start: 169 Current: 163 End: 159 Goal -10lbs (6 down, 4 more to go) I doubt I will make another 4 but you never know!

    Addicted to the scale

I am also addicted to the scale as well. I weigh at least 2 times per day. I need it to keep me in the right direction. I find if I don't I start down the wrong path with eating and exercise.

    Anyone else?

I don't have any problems with anything. I think I am one of those rare lucky ones.
  10. Wow - sounds like all of us had a loss this week! Last week: 165 This week: 164 -1 lb This is going to be slow going and I just had to move out my next fill for a few weeks. I may need to move it out again as long as I am losing 1-2 lbs per week.

    Feeling the squeeze?

I notice I am more tighter during TOM. I would watch it as well. If you PB, Vomit, notify your MD.

    Seventh time's a charm?

I really hope this fill works for you! I have only had 2 and I am thinking about moving out my next appt that is schedule for the first week in April. Everyone is different. I find that I can eat anything I want but I get severe shoulder pain if I eat too much. I also starting getting a runny nose if I eat too much! I am still having very slow weight loss, about 0.5 lbs/week on average.
  14. Still working hard to get this weight off! Start: 169 Current: 165 End: 159 Goal -10lbs (4 down, 6 more to go)
  15. So far so good! Start: 169 Current: 166 End: 159 Goal -10lbs (3 down, 7 more to go) I am now only 3 lbs away from being overweight from obsese!
  16. I loved the New Year Challenge, so I thought I would do another one! There are 44 days until Valentine's day (6.3 weeks to help you figure out how much you want to lose) I would like to lose 10 lbs by then. Start: 172 Finish: 162 What do you say? Interested?

    Friday weigh in February 20

I think I finally broke my plateau Last Week: 169 This Week: 166 Change: Minus 3 I went on prescription Vit D so maybe that had something to do with the loss. Let's hope it continues!
  18. Count me in! For me: Start: 169 End: 159 Goal -10lbs Let's hope this works!
  19. First of all, let me apologize for missing last week. I had a family emergency and everything got put on the back burner. We can use this thread for our final weigh in's on Saturday. I know I am not going to make my 10 lb goal, but I may hit 5. I looked at what I was eating and found that I was having a glass of wine each night, sometimes 2. I stopped that and think that helped me jump start again. I also found out that I am Vit D defecient and started back on the prescription form. Start: 174 Now: 169 I don't know if I will lose anymore by Saturday, but who knows! How did everyone else do with the challenge?
  20. sounds like we all did fairly well! Heartfire - the next one is yours! I need to keep this up. Happy Valentines Day!
  21. Ok, I had been doing so well and now I have hit the brick wall. I know this is my fault and not the fault of the band. I just cannot seem to get things started again. I am at least maintaining my weight, but I need to lose another 30-40 lbs. I have only lost 1 lb since my fill about a month ago. I do not go back for another fill until April. To be honest, I don't need a fill I need a lobotomy! I eat way too much, that is the bottom line. I used to write down everything I ate because it always less than 1100 calories. Now I am eating probably 1400-1500 which is way too much for me in order to lose. I am not hungry but still eat. I never PB if I eat too much and the only difficulty I have right now is I will get a pain in my left shoulder if I eat too fast/too much. I have been working out 3 times a week which has saved me so far, but that will not last. I just want to get back into the grove. Any suggestions? Any books to read? I don't want to go back to what I was after all this hard work. Thanks!

Need to get my act together

Hi All, I have been told by my MD that he does not think a fill will help. He does my fills under fluro and said that he filled me the "max" he felt comfortable the last time so he wants to hold off until April before trying again. I have to agree with him. I am happy I have not PB'd and I do not have physical hunger, it is all mental at this point. I did take the suggestion to start measuring again and writing it all down. I know that my portion sizes have increased. I also bought snack bags to put bandster size portions together so I can quickly grab them. I also bought the book, Beck Diet that I heard is a psychological approach to eating. I will let you know if it is any good or not. Thanks for the support and lets hope next week I can finally say I lost weight!

    not good news...

Oh no, that stinks! Hang in there, at least there is a plan in place. Now that you know that there is a problem you can fix it. Keep up the great work you are doing with your exercise and you will continue to lose while you are waiting for your port replacement.
