  1. I am two years post op and found for me that the volume depends on what I am using to drink the Water. I am currently using a Hydro Flask with the sports top. I can take pretty big swigs without problems. If I drink to fast I do feel it and if I manage to get some air when drinking I feel it. I end up burping. I work out pretty regularly doing HIIT and am able to properly rehydrate myself.

  2. October will be my 2 year surgiversary. I have been logging in MFP even before the surgery. I believe I have a streak of 635 days consistent logging and plan to continue logging my meals. This is something that has become a part of my life\routine and keeps me in check.

  3. For the past 6 months I have been moderately working out at OrangeTheory three times a week, which is a High Intensity Interval training Session 1 hour long. They track your heart rate during the session and provide you with a grid showing what zone you are in based on your heart rate. During a typical session it estimates that I burn from 800 to 900 calories. My question is that I am in Maintenance mode and eating 1800 calories a day and 2000 on the days I work out. I am on the low side of my range at 182 this morning and don't want to go down much more. How has anyone adjusted their caloric intake and how much to offset the calories lost during the workout? I know that you should not eat the calories lost but I feel that there should be some increase in caloric intake. I am afraid of gaining weight by increasing my calories. Even if I up my calories, I can't see how to as I am already eating 5 meals a day. On the work out days I add a Protein bar and banana post workout. Any feedback would be great. Thanks and I look forward to some feedback and input.

  4. I was sleeved back in October 2014 and dealt with Constipation real bad for close to six months. I tried many over the counter remedies which helped a little bit but still was extreme. After consulting with my surgeon he prescribed me Amatiza which helped. As soon as I started incorporating high fiber into my diet, things started moving. To this day I eat a bag of Alive and radiant Kale chips every day and this seems to keep me regular.

  5. The other day I was discussing BMI with a co worker who is 6' 2'' and 200 lbs. I am 5' 10'' and 187. I told him to consider that I am big boned. He looked at me like I was crazy. That was the old me talking. At 14 months post op, I still don't see myself at the size I am currently at. I have been told that this takes time for the Brain to catch up with the body. Awesome on the compliment.

  6. Today is my one year surgiversary. I have lost 115 pounds and no longer on cpap, bp meds, and my A1c is normal. I would have never realized that have normal body fat at 22%. I went from a 48 waist down to a 34. This journey has been awesome. Yes, I had some "panic" moments where my weight went up a few pounds but was able to continue the weight loss and made my goal weight in about 6 months. Being on Maintenance is a bit harder that when in the loosing phase. My goal weight was 195 and this week I am holding at 182 - 184. I am looking forward to many more NSV's.

  7. October 15th will be one year since my surgery. Starting at around 300 pounds then I have lost over 100lbs weighing in currently t 186. This has been the best decision of my life and have zero regrets. Being in maintenance, this is a bit challenging finding the right amount of calories, Protein and carbs to keep my weight within a safe range. I have dropped down to 181 recently but I am comfortable at 186. Here is a video I put together outlining my journey. Once a month I took a headshot of myself in the same place and created this video showing my transformation. For those just starting on this journey, stick to the plan even through stalls and over time you will see and feel the results.

Thank you Rex Bariatrics and Dr Sharp for this new lease on life.

  8. I was constipated for about six months. I was taking amatiza and colace which helped a little bit. Until I upped my Fiber through fruit and veggies, I became somewhat regular. It is also very important to keep yourself hydrated. I will be a year out next months and I think I have overcome this issue. I started eating kale chips which are very high in fiber and macro nutrients. I eat the alive and radiant brand found at Whole Foods. I attribute my current regularity to these chips. I eat one bag 4 oz a day.

  9. Whey Protein isolate is a form of complex protein that the body absorbs the best. There are different types like whey protein concentrate but it does not process as efficiently in your body. There are definitely some options like the Syntrax Nectar and even Isopure drinks. There are also some Protein Bars that taste pretty good. One of. My favorite are the Quest Bars which can be found at a local GNC. I typically eat two a day, one for Breakfast and one for lunch. If you like coconut there is a drink called cocotein which I enjoyed. Go to a site called Nashuanutrition where you can purchase single serving samples to see what you like as far as the shakes. There are many options out there and I am glad you will find Lenora few that taste good.

  10. I always log my caloric intake through my fitness pal. Right now I am at 1600 calories and 120 grams of Protein and carbs. I am trying to bring in some more dense protein and good carbs to try and stabilize. Is is definitely challenging to find the sweet spot. The way I am eating now I am loosing weight. I lost another pound this morning. 181. I find it challenging to sway from my eating plan that I have been doing for the past year. I really believe some of it is mental. Thanks for replying. Today I ordered a chicken curry salas with a little more calories, dense protein and some good fats. Definitely feel much fuller and did not eat one of my bars. Taking little steps toward the new norm.

  11. Having been on maintenance for about 5 months now, I am battling daily with what my norm is. When I started, the Dr said my goal weight is going to be 195. I have since hit that goal and am going lower. When I began hovering around 187 – 188 for a few months, I thought this would be my new norm. I then went out of town on a family emergency and a few days there I weighed myself and found that I had lost 4 pounds in a few days. I weighed in at 183. Thinking the scale was wrong, I did not pay too much attention to it. After two weeks when I got home I weighed myself to find that the scale was right as I think I was 182 at that time. I am definitely obsessed with weighing myself. During the weight loss stage I was motivated by seeing my weight go down at such a rapid rate and weighed myself daily. As I got closer to my goal weight, I then began getting hyper focused on not gaining any weight and would panic at a pound or two change. Focusing on my physical feeling, when I would see myself up a pound or two I would physically feel “fat”. During the day I would have a bloating feeling and worry about my weight. When start feeling this way, I try on my larger clothes and even some smaller ones to put my head back in place and ease my anxiety. I would also weigh myself when I get home and see that I was only a pound up or even the same and that the feelings are in my head a bit. I am definitely struggling with what my norm is and as I lose more weight I am feeling that my norm is also going down. Now that I am at 183 I am looking to be at 185 to 187 as my range. The problem is that I am terrified of gaining weight that I am not changing my way of eating. Still afraid to bring in additional carbs and really watching the food. I am used to my current menu and rarely stray away from it. Bringing in veggies through Kale chips, steamed and also adding fruit has helped with my stomach issues. With my weight going down, I am also hyper focused on how my clothes feel. I know that my stomach is mostly skin and not fat but I still feel like it is fat and sometimes feel like my shirt is getting tighter. This is not true as my weight is not changing that much. Some of this could be physical but I am sure some of it is mental. This back and forth is driving me nuts as I tell myself that I don’t want to lose any more weight but I like when I can fit into a smaller size shorts. Just the other day I bought a size 32 waist short and can wear them. This is a bit of a high to me but also I know that this is not the normal me as I should be at a size 34. I am at a point that I will feel huge if I put on weight, even a few pounds as I am feeling just right where I am at but continue to go down a pound or two. Where do I stop? When will it feel right?
