    OCTOBER 2014

I'm sorry you got so sick Beni. It's a miserable thing. It's very strange- I have absolutely NO problem with lamb or steak. It's chicken and fish that I can't eat. I even have had pork and it was fine. Although all of you know when someone says they "ate something" it's like 3-4 bites. Take out boxes are the new norm. Also, I can barely get in 16 oz of liquid in a day, but I can knock back skim milk. So weird. Again, I'm so sorry for you. Popsicles and yogurt and maybe a few saltines for you today.

@@amylynns I'm not sure about anemia with light periods..maybe a iron deficiency tho. And your back hurts? Is it your lower back like maybe a kidney infection? That would also make you not pee much.

Thanks about the pics of my back. No, I'm not doing any exercises for that area. I'm only walking sporadically right now. I look forward to the pool near me to open indoors soon though so I can swim. My stamina bites too. I read here where someone was winded with legs burning after walking up some stairs..that's me too. My New Year resolution is to drink water and up the exercise!

Okay- I'm going to try to post a pic of my back before and after. (Haven't posted a picture before, so I don't know how it will turn out) but even though the scale might not go down everyday, the weight it still rearranging itself. Like, losing back fat might not change your shirt size a lot, losing it sure smoothes out your blouses!

I haven't. Didn't even know about it. I bought different kinds of juices like diet cranberry/lemonade and it did fine the first glass, but then I had it yesterday and felt so weird that I couldn't drink it. It was that feeling of heart racing/internal heat. I think that I too am dehydrated and lacking vitamins. I have that same feeling as Luna and Amylynns .

I was just catching up on everyone's progress and I'm so impressed! You all look wonderful! I have not lost as much weight as some others, but it am now in onederland. I am still having issues with finding something to drink. I can take sips of orange or apple juice or unsweetened tea with some truvia, but water wants to be my enemy. It sticks in my throat and then in my chest. Terrible heartburn with water. I have tried adding the flavors and ice, all kinds of tricks but no good. Anyway, I am so happy for us all. Losing pounds and getting rid of all of these aches and pains! I have to confess that I haven't used my CPAP since the first week of surgery though, and my daughter was getting on me the other day bc she heard me snoring and said I still need it. Blah! She's right I guess, but I can't wait until I lose enough to be rid of it! Good riddance! Keep up the good work everybody! We all deserve to be healthy and happy and active.

@@DaronB I don't think you've posted in a while. I didn't realize you were in my doctor's practice. I had Dr. Bruce do my surgery on Oct. 23rd at Wake Med Cary. Have you gone to the support group at Rex yet? How have things been going for you after surgery?

Well the scale finally moved- I'm so happy! Also, for some reason, my food and water are going down so much better. Before yesterday there was a very "tight" feeling in my chest and stomach as the food or water moved down, (like rubber bands around my intestines) but magically yesterday that stopped and I'm able to drink especially and not have it get stuck in my throat. It is such a relief!

Its a freaking paradox isn't it? Also, to lose weight you have to eat, (to keep your metabolism up) and to gain weight you have to not eat. (Because your body goes into starvation mode) no wonder I was never good at dieting!

    OCTOBER 2014

Okay- I'm going to list some things that have changed post surgery. Weird: Skin- perpetually dry- it puts the lotion on its skin Ears- a kind of fluid- not exactly wax but I need a qtip everyday Nose- usually normal, but more matter now. I have to blow every morning. Water fills me up- I feel like Ryan Reynolds in that movie where he says no to pancakes bc he said he was full after a glass of water! I could just say to a waitress, "no thank you- I ingested a big gulp of air on my way in." It's like my body is purging toxins or something. Positive: I can cross my legs for longer periods of time before I get tired of holding one leg over the other. My back is smoothing out My chin is beginning to define itself into a jawline! My bra is not so tight anymore (underpants either) My jeans aren't strangling me My eyes seem bigger and less squinty bc my face isn't as chubby. I could zip a pair of boots all the way to the top (they are for bigger calves, but hey.. couldn't before surgery) 25 lb weight loss in a total of 42 days. (That's averaged to .60 of a pound every day) Am saving a lot of money on groceries! Negative: 2 week stall Hard to eat when I don't want to Constipation- never dealt with that before So far, the positives outweigh the negatives!

I was just looking at my ticker, and that little running girl can stop running and sit down for a while bc my weight has been in a stall for two weeks now. I am going to try to up my protein as suggested by someone but don't know if it really counts as much when it's in liquid form as a shake when it goes thru your pouch fast. But I def cannot get all of that protein in by food form bc it gets stuck and unbearable. Yeah, and water is slow going too...

we actually tried that. At a sex therapist. He refused at first and then went and agreed to everything the therapist said and we drove home separately and he did nothing about it. We stopped going after 6 times bc it just became stupid.

    OCTOBER 2014

not so great I guess. Thank goodness my two week checkup is tomorrow. I think I must have a kink or small blockage or something. Ever since surgery in order to go to the restroom, I have to take a laxative and most times it still doesn't work. I have tried so many things, and even reverted back to a liquid diet, but the water makes my lower stomach hurt in the middle. I can feel the water actually travel down the pipe. (Sorry guys) but my urine is now a fluorescent yellow, I only go about 2-3 times a day like a trickle, and my skin is dry like paper. I must be dehydrated. I had surgery on 10-28 and weighed 220 then and 210 now. 10 lbs in 2 weeks sucks. Everyone else is doing so much better. I try to drink, but it gets stuck and painful. Like I said, I'll be glad to see the surgeon tomorrow. Also, my damned lower stomach is flopping over my underpants. That has never happened before, and I'm wondering if a cut stomach muscle is responsible? It suuuuuckkkss.

You are all lucky about sex. My husband has a pharmacy beside him for major depression disorder, bipolar disorder, ulcers and Prilosec, he had a hernia in his groin last year repaired and had an anal fistula repaired in September. He is also a hypochondriac of the biggest degree and has ED. He hasn't touched me in 4 years and asked me to move out of our bedroom 8 months ago because he couldn't sleep because of the noise of my CPAP machine. I now sleep in the formal living room and have a curtain for a door and have to use the hall bathroom at night. Most people that know him think he's gay, and I wonder too. (He has always rejected me and pushed me away when I try to have sex. We've been married for 18 years and have only had sex maybe 20 times and those are complete disasters.) I separated from him for a year and had some of the best sex of my life seven years ago, but finances and our business brought us back together. I adore sex. Always have. My kids tell me to have an affair, but I'm not that person. The psychiatrist that I had to see before surgery told me it will be a big struggle for me bc as you lose weight, your hormones change and you want to have sex soooo much more. He says "watch out for the gym! You will be interested in all of the men there because of the change in hormones!" Wow. Great.

Omg- I finally was able to go to the bathroom today. (after 2 weeks- 10 days of that post surgery). I feel so much better. I am really nervous to go to work tomorrow at sit upright all day. And to try to get in all of my water in a timely manner.

    OCTOBER 2014

Okay. About my right side pain that was killing me: the surgeons assistant called a prescription in for me yesterday for a pill that dissolves under your tongue called Hyoscyamine. I can take every 6 hours. Miracle stuff I'm telling you. I feel Soooo much better. She thought maybe I'm producing gas bc maybe I became lactose intolerant after surgery. So I have to ditch a huge bag of Bariatric advantage protien powder. The water: I'm still only able to get in 42 oz at the most of water. Weight: I have still only lost the two pounds I gained during surgery and I am 9 days post. I'm wondering if it's a combination of not enough water / no real BM.

    OCTOBER 2014

Wow- I can't believe he doesn't believe in pain management. I got a whole brochure about keeping ahead of the pain. (Not that I even want to take it at this point bc it's constipating) I have been using protein powder by Bariatric advantage and isopure zero unflavored. (Does well in cold, not good in heated food) and lots of water. And miralax. I had a HH repair also and had to really practice deep breathing and slight coughing to open those airways for a few days. Keep posting. You sound like you need a lot of info, and these ladies sure do know what they're talking about. A lot of researchers in our group and very positive support.
