  1. My surgery is this Thursday, December 11. I have a BMI of 35 and my current weight is around 192. I keep second-guessing myself thinking do I really need to go through this drastic surgery, but I know I can't do it on my own, I've been dieting since I was 12 years old on and off yo-yoing my entire life. It's just starting to get real and I guess I am scared. Preop diet has been hard and I'm feeling hungry a lot. I'm hoping at least some of the hunger pains will go away after surgery. I do have sleep apnea and a slightly elevated blood pressure so my insurance is covering the surgery. Freaking out a little!

You sound just like me! 192 pre-op diet 186 morning of surgery and sleep apnea. I am 1 month 5 days out and couldn't be happier! Don't get me wrong the first two weeks were tough but I would do it all over again!! I am as of this morning 164.6 I had a 12 day stall that everyone experiences and totally panicked. Once I got through that I have consistently loose .5 lb everyday or sometimes 1 lb a day. I am walking 3.5 miles (takes 1 hour) 5 days a week. Eating 2-3 oz at a time mainly Protein then waiting 30-45 minutes to drink. I use my timer on my phone for every meal to make sure I am eating slow (30 minutes) You will do great it just takes some planning for meals and I never leave the house without a Quest bar or turkey Jerky just incase I get stuck somewhere without a good choice.

  2. Hello everyone!

My surgery was yesterday in Houston and everything went as planned including repairing my Hiatal hernia! They gave me something to relax about 10 minutes before they took me back. My surgery took 1 hour 15 minutes then I was in the surgery recovery room for 2 hours (I don't even remember being in the surgery recovery room.) My husband was anxiously waiting for me in my hospital room. Yesterday I felt pretty good because I had an automatic morphine drip and I also had a push button if I needed more (I loved that thin) I was up most of the night with everyone checking on me. Respiratory breathing treatments 3 times (15 minutes each time) checking my BP and puls-oz and changing out my IV fluids and antibiotics. It's way busier than during the day! I would recommend bringing ear plugs if you are a light sleeper because of all the movement in the hallways. This morning they stopped my automatic morphine drip so all I have is my push button. 2 ounces at a time up to 5 times -an hour! I had my barium swallow to check for any leaks and no leaks!!

I will have to say drinking that Fluid 4tablespoons totally filled me up!! Make sure you tell them that your stomach is the size of banana so it won't take as much liquid to coat your stomach. I had to stand up because It didn't feel like it was going slow. 20 minutes after we got back from that....my chicken broth, Jello and Water showed up. I drank 1 ounce of the chicken broth that took me about 15 minutes to sip it all. I also had two bites of raspberry Jello.

If anything it feels like in having a very bad period!!

  3. Update for other low BMI, 4& 1/2 months out. Lost 40 pounds first 3 months. Stalled for 3 weeks and in the past few days dropped 3 pounds.

I'm at 147.4 with 10 pounds to goal. If more comes off I'm happy.

Still not working out like I should. But trying to up that. Cut out Protein bars to help with digestive discomfort a few days ago.

I love this thread please keep posting.

Thanks for the update! My IV is in and I'm ready to go back!

  4. I'm wondering if anyone that has sleep apnea and sleeps with a c-pap or a bi-pap and uses a full face mask that covers their nose & mouth. Do you have any problems with inhaling too much air and causing gas problems? I know they say don't use a straw because you can get too much air...My surgery is tomorrow and I am planning on bringing my machine and not sure what to do.

Tomorrow is my surgery and here is the sample of the Clear liquids diet my doctor gave me. My friend who had the sleeve with the same doctor said it's almost impossible to get it all in at the beginning. I am also using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth so hopefully it will help getting the Protein in at the beginning because I am worried about hair loss.

  6. My surgery is November 3rd and my doctor has me starting my pre-op diet October 31st. Has anyone else had a 3 day ore-op diet? Breakfast & lunch I can have a shake and morning & afternoon Snacks I can either have a low fat cheese stick or a hard boiled egg then for dinner 6 oz of chicken breast with 1 cup of veggies. I am very confident with my choice of doctor he is very well respected. I just see all these 1 & 2 week pre-op diets and wonder why I only am doing 3! Of course I had my last appointment and forgot to ask.
