  1. Ok, so I am 4 weeks post op tomorrow. I lost 9 lbs on my 3 day preop op diet. Then lost 13lbs post op and gained 4 lbs back. For a total of 18lbs. 9 lbs pre op and 9 lbs post op. Why am I not losing? The scale hasn't moved in over a week. I wasn't getting enough Water in so I have been diligent about increasing my water intake. Some help please! Starting to think I am gonna be the small percentage that fails. Also I work 12 hour night shifts 3 days a week. The other days of the week I'm a day shift person. Some days I am up all day and then go to work and work all night with only a short nap in between.

  2. Ok, so I am 11 days post op. Surgery was 10/23. I have only lost 14 lbs since I began my 3 day preop liquid diet. Only lost 8 lbs since surgery date. Why is my initial weightloss so low. I'm hardly eating food at all. Its been full liquids. I have noticed that my sleeve holds more than 4 Oz easily. Especially if I go slow. I usually get at least 60g of Protein, but have a hard time getting all my Water in. I have only been slightly active. Went on a few walks and did some yard work raking leaves. When will I see a significant weightloss. Something to motivate me more.

  4. @@Sydney Little Merle the

I have also been struggling to get all my Protein in and have been down right HUNGRY! I was sleeved on the 23rd. It has been a rough road. I gave thought many times about testing my sleeve and trying to eat food. I haven't though and once I started passing gas (TO I I KNOW) and bowels moving. (Again TMI) I started feeling better, also moving more helps. But am still hungry! I am still very swollen as well. I actually weigh more now than the day of surgery. Only 5 lbs more, but still more. Hopefully this part will be over soon and we can move forward to happier, less hungry place. We can do this!!

  5. Glad to be home. Trying to sip my fluids in. You almost have to sip constantly. And I have never been big a Fluid intake even before this surgery.

Part of the problem I am having is that all th sugar free Jello and Popsicles as well as pre-made Protein Drinks are way to sweet. I have pretty much been sticking with chicken bullion cubes, Water, and my powder Protein Shakes made with skim milk. I can't wait to start seeing some results.

Thank you everyone for all your encouraging words. It means a lot to me.

  6. Ok, not so well now. I can't seem to get the fluids in. I feel so full and bloated. The neck and shoulder pain is also unreal. Looks like I will need to stay another night in the hospital do to the fact that I am unable to get down enough fluids. I Really Wanted To Go Home.

  7. The need for the preop diet is crucial. It reduces the the size of you liver and makes it less fatty. The liver has to be life out of the way to get to the stomach. The smaller liver makes this easier and reduces the risk/chance of complications of the sleeve gasterectomy. Like the chances of knicking another organ or bowel. It is extremely important for a successful surgery.

I don't want to scare anyone, but those are the medical facts.

  8. Ok, so I am a respiratory therapist.

I work 12 hour night shifts.

I requested to be low census from work tonight and I guess I am looking for someone to tell me that its ok. I'm a pretty tough cookie and can handle most anything. I have 6 kids from ages 4-17 and only 1 actually came from my body. Lol I have adopted 2 and the rest are foster kids. I just really don't want to deal with running around a hospital all night taking care of patients and and saving lives on my second day of clear liquid diet. I am off work after tonight till my surgery. My surgery is scheduled for Thursday the 23rd.

I kinda feel like i have to prove to the universe that I am worthy to have the surgery and that I'm strong and can handle it. I know it's kinda silly.....

  9. I got the phone call today at 12:38 pm!!! I jumped clean in the air when my DO said that I was approved!!! I will NEVER let anybody tell me that its not hard work going through this. It is very hard! I am just so happy right now! My surgery date is October 23, 2014!! When is yours and how are you feeling?

mine is the 23rd as well! I am so excited! I can hardly wait!

  10. Hey, @@livvsmum I am curious....did you have to pay your deductible upfront? It hasn't been mentioned by my insurance or surgeon's office and I would like to know. I have had surgery before with other insurance and didn't have to pay my deductible upfront, but it wasn't surgery that needed approval first. Except for my C-section.
