  1. I'm in the same boat as you the the back issue. One struggle for me has been pain medications management since i had already been on pain meds for a year before surgery and have developed a tolerance. I'm now struggling to get off painkillers all together and finding it quite difficult as I still have some back pain and my body is just used to the dose. It hate those things and hopefully you don't have the same issue. My pain management slash back doctor wanted to give me shots in my spine. He tried to convince me that rny was a bad idea as he sped away in his corvette. Back doctors are not to be trusted and back surgery is a no win situation. No way in hell am I going to let someone stick a needle in my spinal cord before I try and lose weight. Also, two weeks out of surgery I have lost a huge amount of inflammation all over my body. I feel this was contributing to my pain and I feel so much better, you will too!! Let's keep in touch I want to see how your back does as you move along. Do you have insomnia baca use of back pain? Sadly this is one issue that hasn't gotten better for me yet but I'm only two weeks out. I used to be a stomach sleeper and I've never slept well on my side which I'm forced to do because of my belly. I look forward to being able to do this again! My issue is a herniated disk in my lower back which is most painful when I sit down.
  2. I don't get how every doctor is so different. I had rny on the 4th and all I'm allowed is soft liquids. ??? I have two more weeks still until I'm allowed fish or chicken. Waaaa. I'm jealous.
  3. My nutritionist said not to worry if you can't get it all in. It's something to shoot for but it takes time. It shouldn't be uncomfortable. In the beginning just 2 tblsp of liquid per hour is all I could do.
  4. It's kind of strange your doctor won't let you go to your moms- is it a long drive? The first week I had terrible head hunger especially when watching tv. Honestly, I made some food a few times, chewed it up and spit it out. It helped me sooooo much. The urge to do this now has totally passed but it got me through the worst few days. It was like a pickle, a salami sandwich, a bite of hamburger meat. I made sure to spit it all out. I'm not suggesting you do this, I'm just saying it worked for me with the worst of the head hunger. I don't do it at all now. I watched so many movies. I rented them on Amazon and it kept me entertained. Here are some suggestions: Thrillers Tell no one The secret in their eyes The prestige The village Romantic The affair (on showtime) 50 first dates Never been kissed The phantom of the opera Tv The affair The killing The fall Orphan black Outlander!!! Take this time to rest and heal yourself. Write in a journal and call some old friends. Make a list of goals for the next year. Snuggle with yourself. Do a facial and do your nails, pluck your eyebrows. Take care of yourself. Go through your closet and get organized. Take before pictures and your measurements!! Go for short walks, breathe, enjoy. If you feel like talking I'm here for you.
  5. TMI- being able to wipe my tushy without yoga moves. Hahahhaha!!! It's been a long time!!
  6. I got to get rid of size 18 today. It's a start!!! Goodbye 18!!!!
  7. Do you swallow the colace pill whole? I tried crushing one and almost died from the taste!! Anyone got a case of the black poops? Haha I thought I had internal bleeding and then I find outs it's the Iron pill. Grin.
  8. I know me too!!!!!!!!! Sick of it all, just disgusted by food in general. All I can say is that for me, the craving for food I couldn't eat are much much less now. Mostly I just like water and coffee and tea. everything else is gross and don't even get me started on the vitamins !!
  9. So sorry for you. It will pass but it takes time. Could you try some warm tea? I hope you feel better soon!!!
  10. i I hope to find love like you one day.
  11. Arg my weight loss has stalled. But I am down 14 inches! Ha even my wrist lost .5 inch!!! Think I'm eating too much salt and not drinking enough Water. But I did expect a stall after 20lbs in 2 weeks. How are all you wonderful ladies feeling and doing on your weight loss??
  12. Hey cutee- congrats on your surgery date. I wanted to let you know, your most welcome on this thread but this is under gastric bypass surgery. You might find more knowledgable feedback on the sleeve forum because that is were all the sleeve people post. That said I'm not sure about sleeve recovery but I heard it's much less than the bypass! So that's great for you. I think the gas is the most painful part for everyone. So me people bounce right back while others take a few weeks, it varies so much. All I can say is prepare to have a couple restful weeks and hopefully you'll have a fast recovery. It's worth it!! Best of luck to you.
  13. My insurance covered my 50000 hospital bill except for 1800 of it. ))) if you have any questions or need help at all please don't hesitate to ask.
  14. $1800. Could have been up to $2500 but I had used some of the yearly max already.
  15. Hehehe. Yes he was!!!!!!!!! Best 250 lbs I ever lost. . Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm so proud of my kids.
  16. Ouch mine hurt so much too!! I hope you feel better very soon. All I can say is it will pass in a few days, just hang in there!!!!
  17. Very true, I feel much the same. Eating was almost a habituated thing and it took a weeks or so for me to feel clear of those ties and habits. I used to be a sugar junkie and I do not find myself craving sweets at all. I seem to become tired of foods very quickly and just don't get the same pleasure from eating when I used to live to eat. This surgery is a blessing in many ways. It has helped me feel free!
  18. How does feeling full feel to you ladies? It's so weird for me. It's not like I expected!
  19. I'm so sorry ladies. I know what your going through!!! It's gas pain and sadly narcotics don't work on it. Here is the only advice I have but its good advice. First off, walk. You must walk. Right after you take your pain pills, gets up and walk for 2-3 minutes around the house. Repeat. Lay on your left side and tuck your legs in, kind of fetal position. Try to belch or pass gas. This is key, you've got to get that gas out of you. A little bit of broth actually seems to help with this, just a few spoonfuls. You've got to get that air out. Call your doctor and demand stronger painkillers. They won't work on the gas pain but they will help your head deal with the pain. You can also request a sleeping pill to help you get some rest. Best wishes, hang in there. It will pass in a day or so.
  20. I feel that things are going down okay. Today I ate a deviled egg (fat free mayo) and I was able to eat a few bites of lentil soup. What's weird is that I do feel hungry. Not in my stomach, kind of more in my body. And Water seams to work as well as food to quell it. I get a sharp kind of cramp when I swallow things and the feeling of a need to belch. I don't seem to feel full but the food starts to taste bad. It's soooooo weird. I'm afraid that soon I will be able to eat anything and I won't feel full at all! I so scared this won't work for me, it isn't what I expected. I don't know what I thought it would feel like but I am not getting the throwing up or real pain and I guess that has me a little worried.
  21. Last night my five year old son had a huge meltdown. He lost his first tooth yesterday and I think this got him thinking about change in general, and he suddenly burst into tears, ran to me sobbing on my shoulder, and exclaimed, "mommy I want you to stay the same. I don't want you to look different!" And I asked him what he was worried about and he told me, "I don't want you to get skinny. I like you the way you are. I want you to stay my same mommy. Your not fat your perfect the way you are. If you get skinny you won't give soft hugs anymore!!!!!" And he is sobbing against my chest by now, his little body shuddering. My son is such a gentle and caring guy. He had to listen to his dad ( now my ex) insult me horribly about my weight for years poor thing, and he feels very defensive about it. He is always telling me how he doesn't think I'm fat and he never calls me fat- he is very careful and it's priceless watching him backtrack when he slips up. Yesterday he compared me to a pumpkin but then caught himself stating how some pumpkins are skinny. I love him so much. Nothing I could say about health or energy would stop him from crying. So I explained it to him the best way I knew how. "You know how there are red blood cells and white blood cells and germ cells?" "Uh huh." Sniffle and sob. "Well, mommys belly is full of fat cells. That fat cells look like this!" "They DOOOO???" His eyes are saucers. "Yup. And I want those mean stinky cells out of my body. So I'm trying to get rid of them. I need more skinny cells!" Tears are gone at this point. "Mommy wait I can draw a skinny cell!! And they'll have an epic battle in your belly!!" Now all he wants to talk about is he can't wait until my skinny cells lop the heads off all those fat cells. A bloody battle, no survivors. Boys.
  22. Last night my son burst into tears over my weight loss.
  23. Have a great day everyone!! May you skinny cells defeat your fat cells!!!
