    First fill

I had surgery on Oct 3, I lost a total of 18 pounds from pre op diet and first two weeks post surgery. I haven't really lost any sense, but I also haven't gained any back. It can take up to a few mo this if fills, before this thing activates itself and works, so I'm not really discouraged, I'm just enjoying food in the meantime....in moderation of course lol and please feel free to ask me anything, I'm an open book:)

    Post Op Pain

My port site pain was horrible!!!! If I got up to fast I swear I felt like I ripped the port right out, and one time I bumped it on the kitchen counter, and literally started crying, due to the pain. The last time I cried due to pain was when my last child was born, and he came so fast, I had no time for meds, so he was 100 percent natural delivery. I am about 6 weeks post op and I'm just now feeling my port pain less and less. My doctor said it was all normal, but I continuously made sure, the site wasn't red, no fever ect

    First fill

No not at all, and I had an aggressive fill. I have the bigger 14 cc band, and I already had 2.5 cc,so she added 4 cc to it, I still don't have a lot of restriction, but she has me going back every two weeks instead of a month, so I go back for a second fill on this Thursday

    First fill

My first fill was a very good experience, she numbed me with a local (which stung for just a second) then she put the bigger needle into the port ( I didn't feel a thing) she drew fluid out to verify what I had in there, and then gave me my fill. The whole thing was quick and easy and painless:)
  5. I have 4 with a hernia repair
  6. I slipped up and ate more then I should of at lunch (pasta) it's so frustrating not feeling any restriction, and I know I still needs fills, but I overdid it today and now I have a stabbing pain at port site. I go for first fill on Monday. Port site looks fine, still has scabs on it, but no draining, no more then usual redness, not hot to touch, no fever, so I don't think it's an infection. Has anyone had port pain after eating more then they should have??
  7. B52- it's actually quite easy for me to eat, I have zero restriction at the moment, that's the problem, I have the tool, it's just not activated yet lol, I do pretty good on my own, but just slipped up yesterday. The pain went away after Tylenol and I have been good today as far as eating goes. Also I let myself get to hungry yesterday so by the time I ate, I just overdid it. I'm still learning, which is why I love this site, I'm probably not the first nor the last to screw up along this journey lol
  8. Thank you all, I took some Tylenol, pain stopped, now area just feels sore to touch:( I know it's a learning game, I'm sure it's not the last time, I will have to learn something the hard way. Thanks for all the replys, I won't be doing that again any time soon????
  9. Justwatchme- You'll have to do that after every adjustment in the future anyway, so it's not a punishment. Just a recovery period. Love this advice❤️❤️❤️

    Stitches......

Thank you all for the replays, I know they are dissolvable stitches because my doctor told me they were, kinda looks like fishing string. I have been gently tugging to see if they would come free. I will try the band aids to prevent them from poking. ????
  11. Was wondering how long it took for people's stitches to devolve, these things are so pokey and sometimes get caught on my shirt, they are tiny and I don't dare try to snip them myself, I don't go back to my doctors office till November 3 and he's pretty far away, so I don't want to make an extra trip down there. I'm 3 weeks post op, please tell me these things will come out soon:)

    First fill

thanks for sharing this, I keep wondering if it should still feel like this, or if something is wrong in there lol. I tend to worry if I messed something up ect

    First fill

Thanks for this info, I'm scheduled for my first fill on Nov 3, was your port site still tender?
  18. I have 4. 2 small one, 1 medium and 1 bigger
  19. This Friday I will be 3 weeks post op, and my port site is still sore. Yesterday I bumped it while cleaning my kitchen counters and I literally stood there holding my breath with tears running down my face. I still can't lay on tummy and it still hurts if I bend over. Sometimes I get so frustrated with the pain, it makes me double guess even putting myself thru this. I have absolutely no restriction. I honestly even wonder if he put the lapband in sometimes lol. I know this banister hell ect, I know I need to wait for fills, but this is truly a very irritating time.

    Anthem BCBS

It's funny how the same insurance can be so different, I have bcbs of ca, when I log in it says anthem so I'm assuming I have anthem bcbs, I had to do the 6 months nutritional classes, and if I'm not successful with band, they will cover a revision in 2 years from surgery date.

    not loosing weight

I lost 15 pounds on pre op (not surprising sense it was all liquid that I consumed) cont to lose 5 pounds first 4 days after surgery.... Again not surprising sense again it's all liquids, but by day 5 I was starving, and slowly started to eat, I'm up 3 pounds, now that I'm eating more food, I have my first fill appt on Nov 3, so I'm not letting the scale bother me, I'm not stressing over numbers, till my band gets to where it needs to be. I refuse to feel like I'm failing, instead I think of it as I'm on hold for now:)

    Starving!

I started eating liquid soup ( cheesy broccoli) 5 days post op, I was also starving, when I went for my post op check at 11 days I told him, all about it, he asked if I had thrown up, and I said no at all, and he said, then your stomach is healed enough to handle it, he also said, I was gonna be able to eat sense I haven't had a fill yet, and stay with soft foods, so I have had Mac n cheese, refried beans, mashed potatoes ect, anything I could chew into liquid form and swallow. I'm not saying it's ok for you to do what I did, I am in no way a doctor, I'm just letting you know what I did/ am doing???????????? you could always call your Drs office and tell them what's going on and see if they will give you any ideas as to what you can eat, good luck
  23. I am 9 days post op, the port site ( at least I'm guessing it's the port site, it's just a little left of biggest incision, which is just to the left and a little up from my belly button) has been painful sense day of surgery, but over the last 2 days, when I stand, it's like a pulling pain sensation. It's also really hard and I can feel a knobby knot, but if I gently massage it, and walk it goes back to soft. Also over the last 2 days a small bruise has formed right where this pain is, I bruise easily and was surprised I had no bruising after surgery but this seems odd that it just popped up and it kinda looks like the color of an old bruise. I have my follow up on Tuesday, was just wondering if anyone experienced this after surgery, when I look online, I see all these stories of ports flipping and all it does is scare me????
  24. Blanket, I was so freaken cold!!!! I asked my hubby to go buy me a blanket for the ride home (mine was outpatient) while I was in surgery, and they said he couldn't leave:( when I was being wheeled to my car afterward, my amazing post op nurse wrapped me in one of those large heated white hospital blankets, and said here's your blankey dear!!!!!! I told her I loved her!!!!! And she said she only did it for the ones she loved lol ( maybe she says that to all her patients but Idc, I used that blanket for 8 days post op and felt loved lol
  25. With any surgery, there are risks, I personally believe anyone considering wls should read not just facts but also, forums, before I got my surgery, I read tons and tons of the comments on this site, I went to all 3 of the forums, for the 3 surgerys, I read success stories as well as the problems/ complications sections, I chose lapband for me, I'm a mom of 4 kids and wanted the faster recovery one, I didn't want anything taken out of me, so the band was my option, for every success story there was a story of failure, for any of the weightloss options, you have to commit to a lifestyle change, just like you would with a new diet, I am only looking at this band as a tool, will I overeat when I shouldn't?? Probably, I'm human and old habits die hard. I have no opinion on how great or not great the band is, as I'm newly banded but so far I have no regrets, I have a long journey ahead of me, and I love the support of this site, just to clarify, I'm not saying the band can't fail even if you do everything right, there's always a chance of something going wrong, it's the chance I chose to take, because I was tired of trying and failing on my own. In the end, everyone needs to make the right choice for themselves and do their homework ahead of time????
