Lap_Band_Evelyn got a reaction from jnevr480 in How long can you wear your pants?
I am tired of hiking up my pants every time I get up from my desk at work. It is so frustrating but wonderful at the same time.
I HATE belts but have had to wear one just so I don't give my co-workers a shock while walking down the hall way! : ) Good for you. Congrats on your weight loss.

That's sweet!
I have many meaningful things I have saved throughout my life, but clothes have never been a part of that. I think that's cool that you have those plans.
I did save ONE thing I have been hanging on to. It was from a middle of the road weight for me, size 12 or 14 dress I changed into after my wedding dress on my wedding day (I don't even have my wedding gown, long story). It's a linen tailored classic style 3/4 length white dress with a ton of buttons and navy trim. My 20th anniversary is next year. I would LOVE to go back to our honeymoon location and have a bow renewal ceremony wearing that dress altered to a size 4/6 now!
Course with vanity sizing it's not as many sizes down as it seems, it's maybe 3 sizes too big now, but still!!!

I had a pair of jeans that were super cute. I had never worn them before. I tried them on last week and they fit! Well I was finally able to wear jeans today to work (casual Friday). I did not even get through the day before they were falling off. Could not even wear them to dinner so I pulled out a pair I had tried last week that didn't fit....they fit. Success, but I really didn't think I would change sizes that quickly!

I know there's been a zillion threads on this, but what's one more right?
I am seeing A LOT of people so hung up on the scale that they're missing the Non scale Victories (yes that's what NSV means).
So, please list your NSVs here! It doesn't matter how big or how small, we want to hear it!
Mine are (in no particular order):
The ability to sit in any chair I want without worrying if I'll fit or break it
The ability to sit in booths at restaurants
Flying without needing a seat belt extender
No longer wearing plus sized clothes
Trying on a size 'large' shirt and finding it's too big- and buying a size 'medium'
Walking by mirrors while shopping and thinking "wow I look cute" instead of "ugh gross"
Being very active in my kids' lives
Going from needing a cane to get around the house to walking 2 miles a day unaided
No longer having high blood pressure or high blood sugar.
No longer having a sleep apnea (or even snoring anymore)
Not being recognized by people who haven't seen me since getting my band (literally)
Being able to wear cute, stylish clothes (I've become a shopping addict!)
Sitting with my legs crossed
Being told I look more like my almost 19yr old daughter's sister rather than her mother

Lap_Band_Evelyn reacted to PureGamble in 1 Year and 6 Months Later Finally At Goal!
After all the sweat and hard work I finally hit that coveted goal. 344 to 220 and I've never felt better. I'm living walking proof that the Lap-Band can work if you commit.
If anyone ever has questions for somebody who's been down the Lap-Band road I'm more than happy to share my opinions just post your questions in here.

Lap_Band_Evelyn reacted to Leepers in Tanita Scale and Before/After Pic
Yesterday, I stopped by the bariatric nurses office at the hospital where I had my band put in. A couple of weeks before my surgery we had to go in for some tests and education. While there, they took all of my measurements, got me on the Tanita scale for analysis, and took a before pic. So I stopped by yesterday to see if they could do the Tanita scale for me. I'm always interested in my BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) which is how many calories your body burns just to live. Attached is my before and after pic they took and also a pic of the paper showing my measurement changes and the print out from the Tanita scale. I was floored at the pics. It still amazes me to see before pics. I don't have a lot of them because, like many others, I hid from the camera. I love my band. And I am loving life!

Lap_Band_Evelyn reacted to yaya1397 in 365 Days Ago
Today, a year ago I made the decision to get my life back. 365 days ago, I had the Lap Band Surgery.
Looking back to November 18, 2013. I was anxious, excited and at the same time scared. Not knowing what to expect. But I came to realize, that you have to take it day by day, it's not an overnight fix, it requires a lot of work of my part to make this tool work, just because I had a WLS doesn't mean that my weigh will come off that easy.
I had my ups and downs, but I don't regret at all having this surgery. I still have a way to go, but the good thing is that I'm not near my starting point, I'm moving forward towards my goal. Even though I don't know when I will get there, I know that it will take place if I continue to work hard at it. I CAN'T & I WON'T STOP!!!!
Can't wait to see what's in store for me in the next 365 days!!!
Let the journey continue...

Tinker Bell was adopted by us she is a pit bull bulldog mix. She was abandoned and starved to death and infested with fleas and mites. Her ribs were still showing after being in the shelter for four months so she was very emaciated when she was found. She had never been potty trained and had some very bad behaviors such as separation anxiety and would chew my stuff up so I had to crate train her. Our Lab Jake loves her and they play together. I wanted him to have a play mate because he was getting over weight and walking just wasn't enough. People think that pit bulls are so horrible but I can tell you this little girl stole my heart. All she wants is love and attention. For those who don't know about us, my husband and I rescue abused animals. We have two dogs, four cats and two iguanas. All rescues. Tinker Bell had to be the worst abuse case I have seen. I still don't comprehend how people can be so cruel to animals. I could never abandon any of my animals ever. So that is her story. Such a horrible life the first year but she is now doing awesome. Please adopt don't shop.

Lap_Band_Evelyn got a reaction from NewLife'sGr8 in 40 Pounds Gone
I’m officially 40 pounds down. I started at 260 pounds 8 months ago and today I am 220. I had to think back on the last time I was 220 pounds. I believe it has been 13 years since I have been this weight. I am looking forward to moving into the 2-teens and then, next stop, wonderland. This journey is by no means easy but for me, it’s been worth it.

Lap_Band_Evelyn reacted to HealthyNewMe in Weight loss drives a whole new sex drive
I've lost 140 pounds + husband's lost 60 pounds = revived sex lives.
I don't know if hormonal changes are added to this equation, but whatever it is....... thank GOD!
We've been married 26 years, raised/raising four kids and we unfortunately put ourselves on the back burner for far too long.
Not anymore.......... Revived energy from exercising, sooooo much less body fat, and more time on our hands....... YIPPEE!
