  1. :tt2: Im freaking out here! Ever since my last fill in October, the throwing up episodes are more frequent. For the past 4 days or so, ive been really sore and swollen and can hardly keep anything down. I do keep liquids down, but when i try to slip in a little mushie food, the reflux starts and the burning intensifies. Then i resort to the toothbrush down the throat to bring up anything that will come up, which makes my left side so sore i have to lay down with a heating pad. Im going to the Dr's Monday for an unfill, but after reading all these "slip" articles, im starting to panic. Does anyone know the true symptoms of a band slipage?? Help!!!

  2. Lauri,

Hope you are doing a little better now! The holidays can be rough and emotionally-laden. I think the emotional eating is why most of us are overweight to begin with. Learning from these things is what this journey is all about. Just take it one step at a time. Yes, the band can slip due to overeating, but the chances are good that you will be fine. Just get back on track and talk with your Dr. if you are having difficulties. Good luck!

    lightenup,

Thank you, things are going better. I did send the physician assistant a quick email about my concerns and she basically said the same thing you did. I know this journey is different for everyone but hearing a little bit of encouragement for fellow banders makes the steps a little bit easier to walk.

  3. Yesterday and the day before were just horrible!! I ate a little bit of everything on christmas eve with the inlaws.. i was ok with that..but then the leftovers they insisted on sending home did me in. Then yesterday we had dinner with my family. I left a little bit early because i felt to bad. I felt like i needed to throw up (but didnt). I got that full sensation but kept on eating until i couldnt take it anymore. Today im going to do just liquids and back to small amounts tomorrow. Can the pouch be stretched out before the 1st fill???? Thats what has me worried.:paranoid

  4. I dont know... When I went in for my post op appt i had lost about 12lbs..as ive integrated mushy food into my diet, i dont feel like ive lost anymore. Actually i feel like ive gained. I dont have a scale, so i havent weighed but im really worried. My fill isnt scheduled until Jan 9th, so im afraid i will be back at my pre-surgery weight by then. Hopefully im just being a paranoid worrywart .

  5. I was banded on the 16th and will not get my 1st fill until 1/9/08.

I still have restriction but find myself not eating much because im still afraid... Hopefully the fear with start to dwindle soon, because i really dont want to be afraid to eat. :hungry:

  6. My turn my turn!!!! Hi Yall! My name is Lauri (38yrs old) married to my DH of 2yrs. We are in Louisiana with our combined 5 kids....yes, i said 5! Not too bad though...they range from ages 19 to 5.

Was married to high school sweetheart for 12yrs but finally saw the light & left...Thats when i went from a size 18-20 to a size 6... I stayed that way for almost 4yrs...then i met my DH...after being together for 2yrs or so, i had pounded on a ton of weight..Then we got married and even more weight just appeared .

My DH is a Police Officer and Im a Police Dispatcher (thats how we met :smokin:). Back then i was a lovely size 8-10 and very happy in my skin.

So...thats why im here.. Banded on 11/16 and on the lapbandpath to better health and happiness

  7. I was also banded on the 16th. At about day 8-9 i started to feel better. Before that, i would get very tired very quickly. Im now feeling really good and ready to go back to work. I have post op appt on Thursday and have decided to wait until then to go back to work, but im back to all the normal run of the mill activities at home.

  8. Hiyall!

I was banded on Nov 16.. It was tough for the 1st week but i made it thru and am now back to all my housework..just a little slower. :(

Have my post-op appt on thrusday and am looking forward to going back to work. Hope to keep up with everyone, as i still have a lot of questions..Take care

  9. jamietindall19,

Oh no! your not the only one!! I thought i would just slide thru surgery, no problems.... NOT.. my blood pressure was way too low and i kept passing out. I couldnt even get out of bed for the 1st 24hrs... Then the liquid hydrocodone gave me such bad headaches i couldnt even move my neck. Ive been off that now for 3 nites. Just plain old tylenol for me..On top of that i have diahreeah and thats just not fun...Today i got my daughter to take me to Walmart & i think the walking started moving the gas so my back is killing me.. I think ive taken about 6 gas x strips.......im going to stop complaining.. I actually do feel better and hope to go back to work by next week. Im going to take my time, and heal, but im not in too big a rush. Hope you are feeling better now.

  10. 4mykidsinVale,

I had to see a nutritionist the week before my surgery. I know all doctors have different things they want their patients to drink, but my doc has me on 1/2 cup of fluids every hour with sips of Water in btwn.. Fluids included broth, sf popcyiles, sf/ff fudgecicles, diet v-8 splash (i really like that) yoplait smoothies and yogurt, crystal lite, propel, fruit juice (keep it at a minimal).. I like the sf italian ice.. im very lactose intolerant so the lactose is giving me diahreeha (cant spell). As far as Protein goes, im using unflavored Unjury, but i just purchased "profect" from Protica - Product Catalog . It hopefully will be easier for me to drink and carry to work. I can copy my list if you would like.. Just let me know.. Good luck & just keep in mind, every day gets a little bit better. :-) Lauri

  11. hi yall! I also was banded on friday. It has been a rough ride for me also. I thought i would just slide thru this like ive done all my other surgeries.. Nope..not me.. my blood pressure dropped so low i kept passing out when i tried to get up. They put a cathater in me the 1st nite, but by day 2 i was dragging myself to the bathroom. ITs now day 4, i still have pain on the left side and my back hurts like crazy! I think that may be because im holding myself like an 80yr old. Today i started with the diahreeah(cant spell). I still feel very weak and get winded when i walk too much. Does anyone have a suggestion for a Vitamin? I think if i were getting more nurtition, i would start to feel stronger. Thanks
