  1. I agree. My wife mentioned that 2 months ago but he denies of course and he thinks gastroparesis is full paralysis of stomach but that's not true it's the delayed gastric emptying and is defined by a slower than normal rate of contractions, not necessarily a full shutdown
  2. 2 other specialists, the mayo clinic and another hospital ER and no one wants to touch me and.keeps sending back to these yahoos.heck that hospital put me in am .ambulance and transferred me back to TGH. Like some brotherhood and no one wants to get involved in another's work. Nuts
  3. I called the mayo clinic today and once again was referred back because the one surgeon is an alumnus wise earliest appt was april
  4. Added some pics of my journey. I'm down 61lbs since pre-op. Lost too much too fast when sick but can of focus on working towards goal as last 2 months was focused on just surviving. Pic with fish in white shirt was in July at 295,got to 308 now at 247. Pic with large bass was a month ago when sick, but wanted to feel normal for 5 minutes and used all my strength and first cast got this 9 lb monster! Ty again to all for outpouring of support!
  5. I've been treated with pretty much all the reflux meds and am.way past that now, none changed anything. Ty for idea though as I'll take any opinions on what can be, totally seems.like gastroparesis
  6. was a nightmare today with getting seen. I made appt Monday for today and confirmed it would be with Dr Martinez who I trust. I confirmed yesterday when they called. I confirmed today at check in that Dr Martinez was seeing me. When I get in exam room, I ask nurse that I am seeing him right? She says NO, will be the student nurse practitioner! WHAT. I got so missed and demanded the doctor, Martinez was not there today so they pulled Dr Gonzalvo from hospital to see me, he surgeon that screwed me up that I can't stand, has no bedside manor or seems he cares and then lays doom.and gloom on me. gist is I will be direct admitted tomorrow and Tuesday will put tube back in and botox my pylorus valve. If that work after they pull tube in couple weeks and give a couple more weeks to show botox worked then they will perform surgery to shave my pylorus valve to help relax it same as botox does but permanent . If that doesn't work then gastric bypass and if that doesn't work which surgeon has a similar case where it didn't then remove my stomach altogether and hooking esophagus to my small.intestine. this is how this clown scared me today and still doesn't know answers and when i suggested the eating study to confirm gastroparesis diagnosis he said because I have the sleeve wouldn't be effective study so basically no way to confirm just treat me as such without knowing. Wtf. I called mayo clinic they can't get me in to April and referred me.back to the same surgeons as one is an alumnus of Mayo. So I'm.aggregated, depressed, and sick. And dreading another 4 to 5 days in that hospital and their care. I demanded the surgeons my wife had who I trust when.I called and spoke to Dr Martinez who was on call. Anyway, if anyone lives around Tampa, I'll take any visitors as no one around here to visit me except my wife for a few hours on Sunday then she has to work. Love to you all, keep sending prayers and prayers to all of you in your journeys
  7. She's doing great she's down 66 lbs and has had no issues outside of that cancer scare
  8. I have my appt today may direct admit me as I'm getting sick fast. Only 10oz of fluids and 100 calories of food yesterday. Past 5 days total of 60oz fluids. Down 70 lbs today but it a healthy way. I will demand the proper testing to be done when I go to appt today. I tried reglan past couple days and not much improvement. Only cure I can find is to convert me to a bypass
  9. There's no cure but sometimes can be managed by meds. U am trying reglan which I had which can help. I'll see how today goes appt tomorrow with surgeon. Also can be caused by stomach surgery which I had. Makes sense. As I started having all my issues when I started to eat after surgery
  10. I think through all my research may finally have a hit. I think I have gastroparesis. Says you can pass the liquid barium gastric emptying test which I do and they think stomach works fine also EGD is not effective. They need to do radiological test where they give you a small meal and watch how fast it empties the stomach. I think I have delayed gastric emptying
  11. Hi. My name is Al and live in the Tampa area. After 4 hours in ER last night and told would be another 3 to 4 hours so we left as I'd be there all night waiting for surgeon. Plan to go tomorrow AM. Today's my wife's birthday so don't want to ruin. I was crying like a baby yesterday when my wife wouldn't let me wait a few more days of getting g sicker to go into ER because I'm not ready to get rid of my freedom yet. I've enjoyed being home, tube free etc. So not ready for this again. Love to you all.
  12. Headed back to ER will update when can
  13. And today the vomiting has returned. I left a msg for surgeon will keep u all posted. They had said they would not do bypass unless they knew the problem which to this day they still don't know why
  14. So anyone who is insured look at what's billed to insurance for surgery? I know US self pay for everything can be between 15k and 30k or so. Mexico is under 10k. Since I'm insured I saw what my insurance was billed and will pay for my surgery....... $97,000. Ridiculous, no wonder insurance costs are thru the roof. This needs to be regulated
  15. I am not on protein shakes at all so water is my only fluids. And the small amount yesterday was from forcing it at risk of throwing up. Will see how next couple of days go but nausea is causing me to not want to eat or drink plus when I do get something down very uncomfortable with pressure in esophagus, same as before even if totally empty prior and have a small sip or bite. Again seems like stomach doesn't want to let stuff in. Total deja vu
  16. Thanks all. Possibilities were discussed in past of converting but they would need 12 weeks from original surgery who h I am now approaching other possibility was feeding tube port thru stomach but that's for long term and no solving anything. I can't go through this again. It's been just over a week since tube was pulled, seems like the lack of nutrition without aide of tube which bypassed stomach is catching up with me. Seems like anything that hits my stomach it doesn't like and makes nausea worse. I've been trying to force stuff down and still not working. Only made 400 calories, 37g protein and like 30oz water yesterday. My wife doesn't want me to wait a couple days to contact doctor's but not sure what else they can do but to readmit me or replace ng tube at this point. I have all same symptoms I had at start of my spiral which was around beginning of week 3 post op. Depression is coming g back as I can't do this again
  17. Hi. I OK. Think I'm going backwards. Nausea has come back since Thursday and preventing food and fluid intake so not hitting my daily numbers. I've increased compazine back to twice a day from once every 2 days. Worried if this continues will have to call surgeon in next few days and may be looking at ng tube again.

Problem with health care costs in US

Either way Obamacare stinks and caused, because even if employers use as excuse it still impacts us because they now have an excuse to raise rates or cover less

    Where are the November Sleevers?

What is everyone hitting for calories per day and protein grams and typical daily diet? Now that I am back I need to figure this out again. Oh and Oz of water intake per day. Thx

    Where are the November Sleevers?

Hey all. I'm back feeling healthy and as of this morning I'm down 62 lbs. Approaching half way to goal
  21. @@proudgrammy , sorry, typo on proudgranny, nn is next to mm on keyboard@@proudgrammy, blame it on the meds hehehe
  22. last part of transformation back to me was shaving off my "sickness" beard. Hadnt shaved while sick. @@proudgranny -I am doing ok with eating and such, today was best day and firstfull day w/o NG Tube, I managed 700 calories and 60 grams of Protein (no protein shakes) Turkey slices, some grilled fish etc....and I drank 60 oz of Water. Far cry from 0 & 0 three weeks ago or so! I do need to start my supplement Vitamins back up now. I do notice that even the turkey slices or anything is giving me bad heartburn. I have tried different PPI's (within first couple weeks of post op b4 I got sick, and since I got the tube and thru now, I get bad heartburn, I am on omeprazole, have tried protonix and nexium, no luck yet). I am also gettingregular faintness (starting to black out) and dizziness for a few moments almost everytime I stand up or get out of bed. Surgeon said yesterday that may be to poor hydration. I thins its because I was weening off of tube feed, so was probably not getting enough water & nutrition, today should help and of course coming days as I continue to hydrate and get nutrition. He also said maybe the vitamins too ( I need to go on them again as was off for past 2 months). only other thing bothering me is the blurred vision. Its now about 10" out from my eyes where it starts to get blurry, started when they put me on Compazine when I went in hospital last time. Today is first day with no nausea medicine. So no just PRN. Its a side effect of that strong med, but he said it may not come back (the vision) That sucks, but if getting some reading glasses out of my ordeal is the only change from pre-near death experience, I'll take it! My wife is doing great post bypass, and with yeterdays news of no cancer, she has a better outlook too.
  23. Don't let my issues scare you. I was told by surgeon something like this happens only like every 3 years out of tons of surgeries
  24. Tube is out! New lease Iife! Ty all again for support! Now I need to focus on sustaining my self. Out of practice. Focus on water and protein. First time in over 2 months I get to try and sustain myself. Feeling good! Can't wait to try my bike finally! But I need to not over due it as still weak and need to build my stamina up and muscles!
