  1. Alcohol is fine and won't hurt you but they are very high in calories. A bit occasionally is fine but u will it lose weight and will gain weight with too much alcohol. One margarita can have as much as 800 calories. That's a daily intake for most. So keep that in mind
  2. I'm 7 Mos post op and was talking to my wife the other day who had the bypass and we were talking about what our goal weights were. I said even if I picked a goal weight, the sleeve or bypass will dictate much of it meaning, if I picked 180 for goal it's not like my sleeve at 180 lbs is going to get bigger so I don't lose more. As others said the surgery is a tool. At some point we will all hit the sleeve or bypasses limit on weight loss where we maintain, it's THEN where it gets toughest on us to Continue to eat healthy and make good choices or we can gain weight back. Like someone said before, just because we have a smaller stomach doesn't mean u can't gain weight as with poor choices u can consume high calorie junk even In small amounts can pack on the weight or stall your weight loss.
  3. Yup. My nose runs, sometimes I have sneezing fits and hiccups and lotsa burping when full

Down 103 lbs almost 7 months post op. 6lbs to onederland
  5. Getting so close. Not sure how many days to get that next pound off but I'm excited to get there. Another 10 and I'll be in the 100's for the first time in almost 25 years! I was stalled for a while so happy the scale is moving again and inching closer to these huge milestones!
  6. Well I did it! 100 lbs lost as of this morning!
  7. Hey all. I just passed my 6 months post op anniversary. Was just curious how much weight folks lost after first 6 months. I am including the pre-surgery diet weight loss too. I am down 95 lbs as of yesterday. 5 more lbs to hit 100 and 14 lbs to see one-der-land. Started at 308 down to 213. Naturally I am sure some lost more some lost less but we all need to stick to the plan will all be successful.

Losing Hope Sleeve Leak 8 mos post op

Hi. I am sorry to hear how rough a time you have had. I documented my horrific ordeal post surgery here as well and the amazing support I recd here kept me going and got me through it. Your ordeal seems even worse than mine. Mine lasted 3 months or so, worst he'll of my life. I also contemplated suicide but would never do it. Just wanted the misery to end. I felt on the verge of death medically many times. I had the picc lines as well and the feeding tube a couple of times. The feeding tube while uncomfortable, mine was thru the nose, did help me. Just 13 weeks ago I thought all hope was still lost after doing better and having to go back in to get a feeding tube again and discuss converting to a bypass as my issue was my new stomach just didn't start back up properly after surgery. And just when I had given up hope that I would never be better, and feared what would happen after they took the tube out again, things got better. They did a procedure to my pylori valve that was supposed to last 2 months (botox) so feared what would happen when that work off. Well I assume it wore off a while ago and I am still doing well. My advice is to hang in there, get the medical attention you need, even if that means switching medical teams, and pray that all will be better soon. Have to have faith. It's a living nightmare I know as I lived it too, but this too shall pass. Use this group here for as much support as you need. We are here for you. Also like others said, seek out whatever aide for financial or government you can get to help get you through the rough patch. I also had family that was close and never visited me in my 5 hospital stays. My relationship with them has changed. I don't need negative in my life anymore. And it's a waste of my time and energy to focus on it. So chin up, you have our support and prayers and this too shall pass and you can get on with your life and a healthier you. Like your husband, my wife really was there when I needed her most so that's a blessing too. Be well, and keep us updated.

6 months post op, how lost?

How much lost is what was meant. Couldn't see how to edit subject. Sorry
  11. Doing pretty well these days, with my days of the complications behind me. Thought I'd share some before after shots. Thanks all for your support. Al
  12. Thanks all.. How is everyone else doing on their journey?
  13. At least I am not alone. I do think I eat to fast. Sad part is I am hardly eating anything. My wife who has lost over 100 lbs since December can eat almost double than me and also drink fluids at the same time to wash things down. I cannot drink and eat and eat less. She had the bypass. I thought it would be opposite between the 2 surgeries as I heard the bypass was more restrictive.

You crank me up the botox was the relax my pyloric valve, which is valve that controls emptying of stomach. Yeah exciting and scary about the new job, but taking the chance! Last day of work is April 10th, then start new job April 20th. I will travel like 30 % in my new job so praying health issues stay at bay. If I could shake this nausea, which is less these days, I wouldn't feel any symptoms from where I came. But so far so good! Crack me up lol. Autocorrect
  17. Hey folks. I am taking the advise of one of our members and killing off my few month old thread that I created when I was so sick with so many complications. I appreciate all the one support this board provided me, it really helped me get through the toughest time of my life. So now the update I started out at 308 back in end of October, surgery was on November 6th, as of this morning I am down to 225 and can start to smell One-der Land . I'm still battling with daily nausea but not as bad as a couple of weeks ago. I have stopped taking compazine and Zofran 2 weeks ago so I could get off that stuff. It's been 6 weeks since the botox procedure of my pyloric valve. Was told the botox could last up to 2 months. Not sure what will happen when it wears off. Hopefully it already has and I'm doing fine. I'm not letting it worry me and just trying to live my life. I know I need to do better on fluids daily and Protein but doing the best I can and again I feel OK except for some nausea that last while here and there each day. I'm about to email on a new journey in a new job after 10 years with current employer so hoping my health stays from fine fingers crossed. So yes, I'm still here and holding my own and proud to be down 83 lbs. For those that are wondering, my wife who had the bypass on December 2nd is doing great and is down 92 lbs. Again thanks to all for the support! Al
  18. A little fishing a couple weeks ago. Doing well, down 85 lbs
  19. With all my complications the surgeon said hydration first protein second. I use powerade zero. No calories or sugar. I try and drink that instead of just water for the extra electrolytes since I probably am only drinking like 24 Oz of fluids a day
  20. Sorry a few typos but you get the gist. Can't see where I can edit on this app. Darn autocorrect lol
  21. I think they could do it again they also talked about surgery to the valve to replicate the botox.

Just curious ticker still correct???? are you working right now??? were you able to file/collect disability???? i think i can speak for others in saying that we are allll concerned about your horrible situation since surgery receiving weekly updates would be great if nothing new to report that is ok to hear too just nice to see your smiling handsome face continued best wishes feel better, plllllease kathy Love the long note lol. Here goes to answer questions. Wife is doing well and is down 84 lbs in just over 3 Mos. I'm down 77 lbs since surgery 4 plus months ago. I've stalled pretty much for last couple of weeks. Don't know why as can't eat much. I've missed some work time here and there since returning about 7 weeks ago including 1 week when tube went back in. I don't think I drink enough as its hard, probably around 30 Oz a day but try to drink mostly powerade zero. I can tolerate most any food but in small quantities. Even had a bit of alcohol at a social gathering and get buzzed after a small amount buy buzz goes quickly lol. From a few bites I get uncomfortable, burp a lot, feel like I'll throw it up, start salivating, etc.. So somedays I don't get in much nutrition or protein. I feel nausea is getting worse lately so maybe botox is wearing off. Not sure. Surgeons now are wait and see approach. I haven't thrown up in weeks but close to it more and more last few days with some heaves, again I think nausea is getting worse. I haven't dwelled on what happens When botox wears off but now in my mind with increased nausea. So far nothing has prevented me from living life. I acting normal and doing normal things. Still think I am weak and need to try and exercise more. I am very tired by 8pm when used to stay up until midnight. Well hope that answers most questions. Maybe a new thread will be good, but I know a lot on here are following this one so that makes it easy. I cannot express my feelings for the wonderful support you folks have given me and will always be grateful you got me thru the toughest part of my life. Thank you to everyone!
  23. I get sea sick. So have tried everything for that. I can control motion sickness with dramamine or patch but this nausea is different. I had tried the seabands before
  24. Quick update. Still holding my own. Nausea has been bad but am able to eat and drink. Maybe botox is working or stomach finally coming online. Just need to manage this nausea
