  1. Good stuff. All on similar paths but some are eating better than others but we all seem to have our trigger to not gain it back ie: so many pounds from goal weight or tight pants etc. I hit my lowest today as have been trying to be more conscious. Sent from my Z970 using the BariatricPal App
  2. I love my instant pot and make healthy nutritious meals in minutes. Love a good Soup or stew.. Or frozen chicken breast to fork shreddable in 20 Mins. The speed in which I can cook good for me meals has helped curb the urge to order take out many a time. Just curious if others have found a pressure cooker beneficial in the weight loss journey. 3. Well I did work a it harder and happy to say this morning I hit my lowest weight. But if I look at my logs in MFP I can see over past 3 months I have pretty much leveled out. So I have to be more mindful of choices and the tool we got has done it's job and it's my time to make sure I learned the trade from the sleeve Sent from my Z970 using the BariatricPal App
  4. I seem to "tank" my day at night with Snacks. Have my low Cal egg beaters for breakfast, low Cal Protein at lunch, somewhat sensible dinner, but I find I snack right before bed. I need to work on that or get some healthier snacks at night. I'm down today though within 1 lb of my lowest Sent from my Z970 using the BariatricPal App

  7. Agree on alcohol. I can overdue it sometimes. Never did shots in my life now kind of regular when we go out. But I have been tempering that back. Not good in general but also a lot of empty calories. I'm living life but also need to remember the life I used to live and not get back to that place. Trying to hold a rule that if my size 32 jeans which I used to wear 52, ever get tight, I need to not buy a bigger size but watch my diet and work off a few lbs. That's my alert system for gaining back. Sent from my Z970 using the BariatricPal App

    Debbie Downers...

I agree with others. Just tell them this is Your decision to take back your health, you have made an informed decision and you appreciate their support, if not, you do not need their negativity and it's not welcomed. If they are friends or family and care about you, they will support you if not, they aren't worth a relationship. You understand and appreciate their concerns but again you have made your choice and now just need them to accept it and support you. Good luck

The positive which relates to WLS, is they caught it on the standard liver biopsy they do during these surgeries. Her rare cancer usually goes undiagnosed for 5 to 7 years unless they catch by accident. So her bypass helped us catch it much earlier. Even after they caught it on the biopsy they couldn't find it and went 8 months without finding primary tumors which were in original scans when they did her surgery but oncologist missed it. Could only imagine had it not been for catching it by chance in standard WLS biopsy how long it would have been or developed before diagnosed. As even after they were tipped off by chance took 8 months to correctly diagnose and find the cancer. So the fact she has cancer sucks, but without the WLS could have had a far less chance of survival.
  12. My original goal was i would be happy at 180. I have achieved that. Not trying to lose weight anymore. Can eat pretty much anything I want. But I have used this "tool" to live a healthier lifestyle. Yeah I will splurge here and there but I eat much healthier now even though I am at a point I could eat garbage and gain weight back. Subtle changes for long term, like I eat egg beaters, third the calories of regular eggs, no little debbies persay, but 40 Cal Popsicles or 60 Cal sugar free chocolate pudding with a hint of whipped cream if I want something sweet or a couple low-fat Graham crackers. More fish and chicken. If u like frozen pizza, Palermo's has a thin crust line that's delish, and like 750 calories for whole big pizza compared to typical which is like 1500 and no I don't nor can't eat a whole pizza, but can still enjoy food but in moderation and healthier versions. I use Splenda not sugar in coffee, spray butter not real butter etc.... 40 Cal per slice honey wheat bread slices, 40 Cal Hebrew national all beef fat free hot dogs, plenty of Kraut and remove a third of the bun etc... Anyway lifestyle needs to change in this process but not life quality . As many readers know I went thru HELL for 3 Mos post op, but I am approaching 1 year since my complications went away and in hind sight and everything I went thru, it has been worth it. I've got into using mapmywalk app lately for 5k walks and even some brief sprints during walks so exercising more. Didn't exercise much the year after surgery but past few months I have been doing more. The things in life I can do now that i couldnt before are amazing, being able to go into any store and buy clothes is a blessing. From XXXL shirts to mediums, and from 52 waist pants to 32 is wonderful. Hope all are well on your journey and remember and hold dear all the support I recd here when I was going thru the complications. Don't get much time lately to be online but I don't forget this great group or journey/bond we share. Be well all and happy healthy New Years. Thx AL

Thanks. My wife was officially diagnosed with stage IV cancer a few months ago. They removed 2 primary tumors but it's in her liver. We are now a wait and see approach with regular scans and trying to live our lives for as long and as best we can. Ty for asking/remembering

  17. As some of you may remember from my ordeal, when my wife was getting discharged from her WLS they told her they found some cancer cells in the routine liver biopsy they do during WLS surgery. She went for scans and tests in December and January and they couldn't find any primary. So basically she has to get scans every 6 months just in case. So she had her 6 month scan in June and cancer specialist said they didn't find anything and he thought original pathologist misread biopsy after her surgery and he'll do one more scan the end of this year and no more if all still looks good. I asked specialist if he could send original biopsy out for second opinion so maybe they could definitively say they weren't cancer cells and all is good. We'll 2nd pathologist said they were cancer cells. So cancer specialist sent us to better specialist. Had appt today and this specialist found the tumor on the scan from January that our original cancer specialist ordered and missed. So angry right now as we have lost 8 months. She has tumor in small bowel and the lymph nodes there and of course there was evidence of cancer cells in her liver in December. She goes in for a focused scan next week and then they will tell us about the surgery and treatment she will need. Your prayers helped me with my rough time so figured can't hurt to have some more for my wife. They say the WLS can bring folks together or tear them apart, but we have grown much closer after surgery and my ordeal and it pains me she has to go thru this now. Thanks all

    Before and After Pics

I want my husband to do it with me but he doesn't want to give up beer and food.... which you have to sever your relationship with food. Do you guys have a YouTube???My wife was determined to get the surgery but i wasnt on board for me until my back went out again and went to back surgeon who said if i didnt get weight off surgery would be pointless on my back as would happen again. So that made up my mind. My wife chose gastric bypass, i went with gastric sleeve so if i wanted in moderation to have a beer or some fries etc i could and not get dumping syndrome.. So your husband "could" in theory enjoy some of his favorite items down the road as treats in moderation, but my relationship with food has changed for sure. I eat much healthier choices now, but also not afraid to have some treats. Like every diet in the world, its all about calorie intake and how much you burn. So if i have a treat or drink, i still try and stay under my daily calorie total. Even if you read my horror story and what i went thru post op, im an advocate to others to get the wls surgery and improve their health. Was still worth it for me. Good luckWhere do I read your story? Not sure how to paste it but you can search by posts made by me.. Will be one with over a 100 comments. I think titled prayers needed or something started late last yearI tried to find it but couldn't. Oh well. Did you have bypass? http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/325654-Heading-back-to-ER-again,-prayers-please
