    Question About Family Support

Yeah. It's been rough for me too. I think my wife is trying to sabotage me. She knows I was having trouble quitting smoking and several times after she had stopped also she lit up in front of me. Also she said she would do the preop diet with me even though her surgery is 4 weeks after mine. But like last night orders in pizza and donuts. I'm doing perfect on my pre op diet. Surgery is in 9 days. I had a few smokes 4 days ago and my preop testing is this Thursday. I'm drinking a gallon of water a day to try and detox. I know it's my fault that I gave in and had a few and couldn't fully stop sooner part in thanks to the lack of support at home. I'll just die if they postpone my surgery due to failing a test for nicotine this Thursday

    Started Preop Diet

Good luck. I started mine 5 days ago. What's your diet consist of? I get 2 protein shakes, breakfast and lunch. A snack of 1 protein serving and 1 fruit or starch serving (not much per serving) 1 oz is a serving of protein. And dinner is 4 servings of protein and 1 serving each of vegetables and one fruit like half a banana.
  5. since chicken broth is basically flavored water, anyone see any issues having broth to help satiate the hunger in pre-op diet and help meet water goals? They allow decaf sugar free beverages, so I don't see why broth would be an issue. thoughts?
  6. My pre-op visit/tests are this Thursday, surgery next Thursday Nov 6th. Does anyone know when I should expect to hear from surgeon as for all clear for surgery based on pre-op testing or is it the type of thing where you don't here from them unless somethings wrong. Just nerved, gettin' close.

    Where are the November Sleevers?

November 6th for me and is coming up fast, next week!! I have my pre-op visit this Thursday and am already a few days into my pre-op diet.
  8. Hi. I start my 2 week pre-op diet this Friday. I have to replace Breakfast and lunch with a Protein shake in either Water or fat free milk (I'll put it in the milk) Amazon is convenient for me, anyone have any brand and or flavor suggestions? My guide from surgeon says sugar free, at least 20g of protein per serving , under 200 cals per serving and less than 10 carbs. There are plenty of powders out there but not many that say ugar free but meet th other criteria better than the few sugar free ones. Most are low carb, lower than the sugar free but have like 1-2g of sugar listed on the label is that ok? otherwise not much to choose from, plus spendy. Any advice? flavors, brands? thanks, getting close!!

  12. Hi folks. I have seen some good tips so far for setting myself up before surgery and was wonder if others had tips for things to or get in place before the surgery. A couple folks mentioned a recliner. I did buy a digital food scale too and some Protein isolate. I know there's there's a bunch more I have to do. Ie clear out the cupboards , fridges, freezers , shop for preop diet and post op diet etc.... just looking for tips or things that may not be obvious but will be a big help pre and post surgery. Thanks all.

    Waiting for surgery date

    Congratulations. I'm a November sleever too !
  15. I had done some research and heard anywhere from a size 32 french bougie to a 40. 40 being larger. My surgeon uses a 40. I'm just concerned it may not be as restrictive. I don't really have a choice but was curious of others experience and successes with various sizes. Also I am 298 lbs and the surgeon said he'd be disappointed if I didn't lose 100 lbs in a year and not surprised if I lost 100 in 6 months. Is this possible? Other lose that much in 6 month's? Any tips for success .I would be thrilled to lose 100 in 6 months.being 5'6" my ideal weight is around 140. I'd be happy with 160. I'd be happy to see the 100's again. What's folks regiment post op for exercise ie: 1 week out 1 month 3 month etc... Thx
  16. Excellent link. Thank you. That gave some great insight!
  17. @motherof5. How much have you lost in the 6 weeks if I may ask with the 40 bougie?

Crap I hope surgery can be moved up

Yes. Worst case you can get COBRA to Continue your insurance for a few months. Of your have to pay the COBRA premium but much cheaper than the surgery. Good luck

    December 4th!

Yeah. I have BCBS and mine was less than a week. My wife's was around 10 days. In both cases I reached out and spoke with the case manager. I thought it helped checking in on the approval and just seeing if they had the paperwork. Good luck

    Waiting for surgery date

Congrats. Yeah I was on pins and needles after the EGD cause was last step before getting a date. Good luck you should hear soon on your date options. Now for my surgeon they don't set dates before EGD results. Point of EGD is the clear you for the surgery and make sure no issues or blockages etc
