  1. nausea is a bit better this afternoon. My big issue is in the middle of the night or morning when I wake up from sleeping so I'll see what tonight brings. I'm doing a bit better today I think. So thank you
  2. yes ty. Got Zofran last night, pharmacy didn't have antacid in Stock so will be later today.
  3. Thanks folks. Especially since I'm haven't been doing so well I am not going to push it. I couldn't even tolerate pudding last night. Thx for your input.
  4. Was wondering who your surgeon is. Mine is Dr Gonzalvo

    Anyone from Central Florida?

how was your experience there? Mine wasn't so good with several of the inexperienced nurses
  6. I am 3 days post op. When should I start using gasx strips? I know it doesn't help with air from surgery but should I start taking now? Will that help with burping and tummy gas? That throw up feeling I get from having to burp, will it help that? How often and when do intake them? I'm doing well just a lot of pain from gas and soreness in abdomen. I am walking as much as I can.
  7. I have a binder I got from the hospital but the 2 times I have worn it seemed like it made my pain worse. Besides gas pains my main pain which has been bad is my right side. Any pressure on it seems to make it worse

yes he did mine on Thursday. I'm doing so so. Nausea is my biggest issue as making it tough to hold down liquids. They just called in Zofran so I will get that later. So did you have it at Tampa general? We're you in the Barbieri program there? My hospital stay was it the best but surgeons were good. I pretty much only saw Dr Roberts, Gonzavlos fellow after the first day.
  9. Surgeons were pretty good. Their staff at their office who run the bariatric program are not very good and even if u have an issue only number they give u is main number for the whole program so most times you are on indefinite hold. Should at least have number for post op care. So hard to reach someone to leave message for the surgeon. And as stated the hospital is not very good as they rely on textbook nurses who are furthering their degrees beyond a BSN but was evident that these 4 year degree clinical nurses had no life experience and scary the incompetence a few had to the point I almost wanted to discharge myself. There were pockets of good nurses too. Heck the first night after surgery took 3 hours for them to "make up my room" so was stuck in a holding area and then stuck me in what they called, the overflow ward. As they were overbooked. This was scary too as I supposed to be in the specialized barbaric section. My wife was a good advocate for on that. At 3am after enough complaining they moved us to a private room in the bariatric ward. That room too over 3 hours to make up supposedly. My wife who is a nurse read between the lines and asked questions and found out it was taking so long because my room they were putting me in had mersa. So that made it extra scary.
  10. Yeah. I'm home now just feeling miserable and wondering why I did this to myself. If in could get rid of the nausea and subsequent gas may not be so bad. Pain is bad but I can tolerate that, the nausea I can't

    Just home from hospital...

What you do for nausea, that's my biggest issue as its preventing me from getting fluids down
  12. No he didn't give me anything for nausea. They were injecting Zofran up until prior to discharge yesterday but sent me home with nothing. I even asked discharge nurse about something for nausea but she just said they didn't prescribe anything. I left a message a bit ago with one of their incompetent staff to let the surgeon know of my issue. Would not recommend using this place. Unfortunately my wife has her surgery there in 3 weeks. Was outright dangerous staying in that hospital. It's a teaching hospital but they had some young nurses attending me where for instance one had to read the instructions on how to use the thermometer, another didn't know how to secure my Foley/catheter Andy wife who is a nurse had to show her how to use the sticker with the clip. Another was giving me pills to swallow 1 day post op. I could go on and on. Another I told I needed help cleaning myself and they just stood there dumbfounded then finally aided but did a very poor job. I even mentioned it and they said it's all good. So they let me stew in myself etc.... Just a nightmare. At least when my wife saw first hand that even substandard care she stayed overnight a couple of times. Just a nightmare there.

    Just home from hospital...

I'm also curious outside of gas pain where does everyone have their surgery pain or soreness? I have bad paid and tenderness on my right belly/abdomen. Nowhere else. How long before that goes away? See at its worst today

    Just home from hospital...

Yeah it seems like walking helps me burp but not with the stomach pain/gas. I get doubled over in pain when I lay down or on recliner leaned back then while trying to resr I can't as I have to go to the bathroom when I get those cramps. Isn't days haven't been able to just relax when I sit. That when the gas starts moving around on me
  16. I'm still in hospital, I should be going home today. Rough few days. Pain was very bad between gas pains and soreness one right side. I didn't sleep for 2 days finally got some rest last night. I am having a hard time getting the required fluids down. Every sip burping gas wants to come back up but then I have trouble burping. Any suggestions
  17. nurse wont let me take gasx strips. whatdo others do, just take w/o them knowing?
