  1. 37 pounds is awesome! Nice job! Here's hoping that it doesn't take long to hear back from the insurance and it is a go for the surgery! Hopefully you can stay strong on the sweets. I never ever thought I could go this long without them. I have the Fitbit myself. I log my food in there and as well as a spiral norebook. Exercise is where I am really hurting though. I can't get myself to get out there on a consistent basis. My exercise is usually walking. That is great that you bike that much.
  2. "I would highly recommend keeping a list of all the reasons you are doing this and all the amazing things you will be try to do post surgery on you at all times. That way when things get super rough you can take some time and read them to remind yourself it will be worth it" I guess I better get to writing then. I was told I will be doing 4 weeks of liquid diet just prior to surgery yummy. I am just beginning my journey. I started my 90 day medically supervised weight loss program 10 October and probably won't have my surgery until the end of February. Thanks for sharing your story Joe and good luck as you continue your journey!
  3. I agree that It is absolutely your right to tell or not to tell or somewhere in between. I am telling everyone now and I am just starting my pre-surgery weight loss program so my surgery won't be until maybe the end of February! Out of all the ones I have told I have gotten many success stories and I have gotten two stories that were not successes. But every single one has said "I wish you luck". After one of the ones that had an unsuccessful story and I started talking and comparing notes he actually said he was going to pull out his notes where he had been researching getting WLS but got decided it was not for him and start looking into it again.

    Grieving food?

I had my first Nutrionist appointment this past Friday and she mentioned mourning food: 1. Sit down and really think about this food. Maybe even write down how it taste and how you feel. 2. Then either burn it to say good bye or leave it out in the yard never to come back in or simply throw it away. It is a good idea to figure out how to mourn that stuff (whatever your triggers are) now.
  5. Hello and thanks bluedreams86. I didn't see that hospital on the list of Center of Excellence list I got so I will have to check them out. I am planning to have an initial consultation with Dr Maozzez this Friday at Inova but I have not decided if I will stick with that group yet. The seminar answered some questions my wife and I had so that helped. Good luck with your insurance and let us know what happens.
  6. Thanks Beni! I will look into those and another I heard about, Shady Grove which is 71 miles away. I hate going so far but the odds are better at a COE and they are not close to me. Almost exactly a month to go for you. Great luck and keep us posted on how it goes!
