  1. Thank you for your reply, my pea Protein tasted horrible so I returned it, I bought the GENEPRO, hopefully it comes when I leave the hospital. I am now getting ready for my surgery. I was called last night 3 times and my surgery was changed from 10am to 12pm to 9am, I have to be at the hospital at 7am, and it is now 4am. I am feeling very ready and nervous, I left packing for the last minute and I also haven't slept. I figured i'll get enough sleep later. Good luck to everyone having surgery today, I will update later on how it went.

Here is my preop photo 10/07/14

  2. Lmfaoo@ good I lived, aww that's great. @@living well I think the 6 week class is good, because I see a lot of revision patients at my center and I honestly feel they weren't prepared, my mother being one of them. She lost 80lbs and gained back 100, she never followed her diet and now she wants a revision done and we are all scared for her. I wish she would of been in a 6 week class and I'm hoping they make her do a workshop now. When you guys woke up were you extremely thirsty? I had a dream I woke up and was dying for Water and I really wanted to drink so badly and then that 1oz cup came and I wanted more and more, I'm wondering if its my mind telling me I won't be able to gulp down drinks anymore and to get ready.

  3. Omg you guys don't know what I went through today!! My surgery almost got canclled due to a mistake. I called on monday because I was told I'd be called in for preop a week prior to surgery, noone picked up and I left a message. I'm always on things and I had a feeling that I should call even though the week before I had called as well as was assured that I'd receive a call when it was time to come in! Sheesh the nerve, so this morning I get 6 phonecalls back to back at 9am! And when I finally pick up its the secretary telling me that I need to hurry and get down to the office asap before 10am to be able to have my testing done and take my preop class, and that if I don't come I'll have to be rescheduled for a later day! I was livid!!! They forgot to call me! But I managed to get to the office within 30 mins and had all my testing done and took my preop class and quiz, surgery is still in effect for 10/07! @@amylynns today I received a sheet that basically says, sugar free Jello, sugar free Clear Liquids, Proteins shakes, and broth. I'd love for you to tell me what menu ideas are on your sheet! As for everyone else, Wow seems like we do have a lot of libras and a lot of people getting surgery in october, good luck to all of us and let's stay in touch! :-*

I hear you but I had a horrible experience with metro plus and would never go back.. There customer service when u call for stuff is horrible and plus the doctor office that I go to now they don't accept metro plus so I would of been stuck going to some rinky dink doctors office in queens and where I live the doctors r horrible..

So now I have health first love them and I go to the only doctors office in my area that does their job and I love it.

Thanks hunny but I'll stay and do my six months...

    Which surgery are you getting?

i hear you! i was with healthfirst forever but i didnt want to wait the 6 months because i was actually dieting for a year just not supervised. i plan on changing back to healthfirst after surgery because there's a 3 month grace period after my effective date of september to go back. i've heard metro sucks but i really needed to get this done asap. im getting gastric bypass. good luck with everything, i went to the seminar at presbytarian in july, just took a different route because they only accept healthfirst there and thats a mandatory 6 months.

  5. I lost enough weight during my 6 weeks of classes that I wasn't required to go on the 2 week liver-shrinking diet that many of my classmates did. For those 2 weeks if I'd have had to do it, we'd have been required to have 2 meals that consist of an 11oz Protein shake and one meal that was 4oz of lean Protein with no starches or carbs.

Since I got to skip that part I only had to partake in the 3 day clear liquid diet for the 3 days pre-op. In that we were allowed one bottle of Isopure (clear protein drink) and only sugar-free, calorie-free, caffeine-free drinks for 3 full days. This is the same diet we had for the first week post-op so it really just got me into the practice.

As for how I felt - I went into it planning on being a grouchy, irritable mess. Luckily it wasn't bad at all and I was so pumped up for the surgery getting closer that it was more about counting down the hours than dealing with the diet.

I don't even recall the mask going on though. I'm pretty sure the IV they started while I was waiting had something in it to help me relax as I barely remember walking back to the OR and hopping up on the table.

what a 6 week class? wow. i only have to do a 2 day diet. im glad everything went smooth for you guys...i had a csection last year and i kind of love being put to sleep. im looking forward to it. im not looking forward to waking up in pain though.

  6. He said he rubs in the preparation h im sure really good then applies the vicks vapor rub then wraps in plastic wrap, he said he started with the large rolls from Walmart of wrap then found it was cheaper to go to lowes or home depot and get the moving plastic wrap he said it covers more area and is more comfortable.

then he goes to bed and removes it all before showering, i would imagine though if you are home a lot that you could do this during the day as well, i haven't got that far in my surgery yet but i will be trying it down the road.

did he use the generic kind or the regular preparation h, because a tube is expensive, just wondering because im going to stock up just in case.

  7. I trying to figure out but i cant find it anywhere, does health first ny require a 6 month supervised diet????

i had healthfirst on my first visit in august, i changed it to metroplus and now im schedule for surgery oct 7th :), change your plan hunny!! all i had to do was psych, abdominal, 2 support groups, and ekg!

  8. Hello ladies-

I am at the beginning of my journey towards a healthier life. Next week I have my first appointment with my surgeon! Everything looks good for me- my weight qualifies, my insurance covers, my family supports. The only real fear I have at this point is being disqualified for STUPID past behavior.

6 years ago I have a 6 month bought with bulimia. I stopped on my own realizing I was being ridiculous and putting my life at risk. I never had the true urge to throw-up, it was only a desperate try to loose weight, which ultimately failed anyhow.

I wouldn't even be concerned about it except it is in my medical records, as I sought treatment for at "eating disorder" later on. Again, hoping that would help me lose weight! I didn't and now this little fact of my bad decisions is on my permanent records.

I am so terrified the doctor or my insurance will say no way because of this period of my life!! So unfair, I can't even say how awful that would be.

I haven't had even a second of bulimic behavior in the past 6 years. I received intensive counseling on the subject and put it in the past. For being overweight I am actually a pretty responsible eater, I just have major problems with potion control and yummy sugary things.

Have any of your wonderful ladies gotten approved after admitting a past eating disorder to your doctors? Do you ladies think this will disqualify me?

I am really scared it will.

Would love and appreciate your insight!

i have a similar story to yours, i omitted that on my psych evaluation because i was never diagnosed and i wasn't addicted to it, i just thought it would make me thinner which it did. i was 16, so about 7 years ago, and i stopped on my own and never did it again. since you say that its on your record, i would be honest but if not i'd keep it to myself unless you felt you would do it again. my honest opinion. i hope everything works out for you.

  9. liquid diet going great. Paid surgeon my part. Paid hospital my part. Bring on Oct. 7th!!!!!

Awesome!! omg its approaching fast lol. i just bought some Vitamins, yogurt, Jello, crystal light, and my Protein. i actually made a shake today and it was good, i got a sample from chike. how do you feel on your diet? what Protein powder did you buy? i bought one thats made from peas.

  10. Hi everyone.

this is my first time posting and very new to this support group. I have my surgery (RNY) scheduled for November 5th and set to start Optifast on October 15th. I'm so excited a little nervous too but I'm going through this little phase where I think, "last time for this, last time for that," thing. Like eating at my favourite restaurant for the last time, having a girls wine night etc.. I'm hoping I'm not the only one that has done or who is doing this? I think it's a pretty realistic thing to do considering the massive changes up ahead. Anyone with me here? Lol

I love the way you named it "the lasts", because i have been feeling like this too, i was a little sad about not being able to eat holiday food too. I will not lie, i have been eating my favorite meals lately because i know that once i get this surgery i wont be eating those things anymore. my birthday is 3 days before surgery and i am going to drink the night away as well. i am saying goodbye to all my bad habits too.
