Anyone stop all Thyroid Rx post op?

I have Hashimotos and I'm hypothyroid. I was told not to take meds until 2 weeks post op. I started taking them after one week because I felt horrible. I switched from synthroid to Armour about a year ago. My endo didn't want to see me for at least 2 months after the surgery. I've lost 37 lbs so far, so I'm assuming my dosage will be lowered. I was also told I would be on meds for the rest of my life.

    Telling about surgery

I have been very open about having the surgery. I'm only 5 weeks out, so there's not a HUGE difference yet, but I'm a teacher and everyone knows at my school. I told my students I had "stomach surgery" and left it at that. My surgeon told my mom that people who have a diseased appendix, have it removed, people who have a diseased gall bladder have it removed, some people have stomachs that don't work properly or are "diseased" and they need help to get to a healthy weight. That really stuck with me. I have 2 boys that I need to keep up with and I want to be healthy for them. I have tried every diet, hypnotherapy, counseling, and acupuncture. I feel like I made a great decision to get my life back. =) When something good happens to me, I want to use that to help other people. =)
  4. Yes, and I'm single...........that's a problem!!! lol
  5. I am 5 weeks post op today...........I skipped the 3 week stall, but I'm having it now. I've lost 30 lbs so far but the scale hasn't moved in 4 days. I'm ok with that since I read about the dreaded 3 week stall.......I guess I'm just slow. =) I'm not able to get in 60 g of Protein yet. All Protein shakes make me gag. I am great with my Fluid intake though. I'm good with taking all my Vitamins. I'm working on getting the protein in. I feel like all I do all day is eat because I can only get in a couple bites before I feel full. This is definitely a process. =) You're doing AWESOME!!!
  6. I'm freaking out a little. I don't remember my NUT or doctor telling me I can't have ibuprofen anymore. I just read it here. I took it 4 days last week because I had a horrible headache that wouldn't go away. Have I ruined something? My surgery date was Oct. 7, 2014. :-/

    Finding my groove

I was sleeved on Oct. 7. I'm sooooo sick of pureed foods. I'd rather not eat. Protein shakes make me gag. I'm living on scrambled eggs, tuna salad, chicken salad, and chili. I'm so ready to be able to actually chew my food. =) I do feel great though. I'm glad you're doing so well. I can do this!!! I haven't tried bread yet....I'm going to hold out as long as possible. I really want a steak. lol

    10 days post op and...

Have you taken your vitamins and B12? I can't stand the protein shakes either and I am having trouble getting in 30 grams of protein. I'm just making sure I'm hydrated. I'm on the pureed phase now, but it's not much better. They have dissolvable B12 and I think that really helps me. I hope it gets better soon.
  13. I am 3 weeks post op today. I'm having a hard time getting my Water in. I can drink unsweet tea fine but I would love to squeeze a lemon wedge in my water for a little taste but I'm afraid about the acid and my new stomach. Should I wait until I'm not at the pureed stage anymore?

    Calling all October Sleevers

I was sleeved on Oct. 7, 2014. The first 2 days were miserable due to nausea. Everyday is better than the previous. I'm having a hard time getting my Protein shakes down. They make me gag. I'm doing well with Water and iced tea. I can't stand anything "sugar free", so I'm sticking mostly to broths and cream Soups. I'm ready for soft foods. I have a horrible taste in my mouth. I haven't weighed yet. I go for my first post op visit on Thursday. I am focusing on a life style change and not what the scale says. I've decided I will weigh once a month. I did have a couple bites of my son's scrambled eggs yesterday and thought I was in heaven. =)
  15. I am 8 days post op. I feel great. I can't stand the chemical taste" of sugar free items, so I've been avoiding them. Problem is, that leaves me with my protein shakes, water and different broths. I'm dying for something different. Any suggestions?
  16. I'm having a hard time getting my Protein in also. My doctor told me the first 2 weeks post op I am to focus on healing and hydrating. I stopped all pain meds on day 2 because I was so nauseous. I can't stand anything "sugar free", so my liquids are pretty much Water, some gatorade and I added unsweet iced tea yesterday and felt like I was in heaven!!! =) I'm definitely not getting in my 30 grams of protein yet, but I'm trying. Hang in there!!!!

    Protein...You're making me sick.

I was sleeved Oct. 7th also. I can't stand the Protein shakes. I've tried several kinds also. I'm trying so hard to get in my 30grams a day. I'd rather drink Water. I guess because we've been stuck on liquids, puree sounds fabulous!!! I can't wait to have a scrambled egg with cheese or an avocado. lol I hate this nasty taste in my mouth!!! Hopefully, I can go to puree next week after I see my dr. Hang in there...........I feel your pain!! =)

    A little late...

I was sleeved on Oct. 7th. I'm having a hard time getting in my protein. The protein shakes make me gag. I'm doing ok with water and soups. I know I'm not getting in enough calories. I hate the horrible taste in my mouth!! ???? Everyday is better though. Taking it one day at a time. I'm going back to work on Thursday, Oct. 16. I'm a teacher, so it should be interesting. :-)
  19. Other than calories, why is sugar free so important? I have always hated the taste of artificial sweeteners. I am 5 days post op and I'm sticking with water and decaf tea. I can't stand the taste of crystal light or any other sugar free drinks. Any suggestions?
  20. I'm so glad I read this post. I am 5 days post op and I have NEVER been able to handle the taste of sugar free. It all tastes like chemicals. So the regular Jello isn't going to kill me?
  21. I am 5 days post op and have a horrible taste in my mouth. I can't stand any of the sugar free drinks. They leave a chemical taste in my mouth. I am able to eat sugar free jello. I am sticking with decaf tea and water. I'm having a hard time getting my protein in also. Any suggestions? Could I add frozen fruit to my protein shake and blend it very well?

    Horrible taste in my mouth

I've been in ketosis before and I'm sure that's what it is. I'm hardly ingesting any calories at this point. I'm trying to get in Protein but everything else I'm drinking is calorie free.
  23. It's the day before my surgery. I'm ready to start the rest of my life.........any advice or suggestions.....all are welcome. =)
